00:00Krista, a valiant effort against a, I'm going to say, world-class field tonight.
00:04Yeah, it's crazy. Not the typical kind of race that I'm used to.
00:09Yeah, I kind of select the races that I do because you think you'd be competitive in them.
00:14Obviously, with a very late call up to this, my prep's been very limited,
00:18and literally competing on a stage such as big as this with literally world-class athletes.
00:26Yeah, it's a great experience. Probably first and last time I'll get to experience it,
00:31so literally soaking up every minute of it has been great so far.
00:34Let's just go back three, four weeks now. When you got that call, what did you think?
00:40Yeah, so when Steve called me first and he was like,
00:44there's a chance you might have to, or you might have the opportunity to step in, how would you feel?
00:49And I was kind of like, yeah, that sounds kind of attractive.
00:52And then it kind of went away for a few weeks, and then I got the official call saying,
00:55yeah, how do you fancy it? I was like, 90% yes.
00:59But obviously, I have my reservations because it is such a big thing.
01:04And yeah, as I say, competing with the world's best, I knew I wasn't going to be competitive.
01:09I wasn't going to be in a race with them.
01:11But the opportunity to come out here and have a good run, you can't really say no to that.
01:16I think it's just getting the doubts out of my head quite early on, and the mental preparation was all
01:21I kind of needed.
01:22So I slept on it, and yeah, a few weeks down the line, here we are.
01:27Can we reflect on your running journey, as it were?
01:30It only started relatively recently, five years ago.
01:32To get to this point is phenomenal, really, isn't it?
01:35It's crazy, yeah.
01:36Everyone keeps saying what a whirlwind it's been.
01:40Even stepping out there today, it felt like it was a dream.
01:42It didn't feel real that I was actually there.
01:44Even when the gun went off, I was pinching myself, like, is it really happening?
01:49Because, yeah, 2022 was when I first started, and never in my wildest dreams did I think I'd be on
01:56a track,
01:57let alone rubbing shoulders with these girls.
01:59So, yeah, it's just been a whirlwind, really.
02:02And just looking at the race briefly, how hard was it not to sort of get swept up with the
02:07occasion
02:08and go with the quicker girls today?
02:10Yeah, I was just saying to Rob, there's a few conversations I've been having with my coach
02:16and Ollie and David, the guys who ran the other day, and the temptation is because you're fresh,
02:23you've got fresh legs, you kind of want to go, and your head's telling you to go,
02:26but, yeah, you just can't get carried away.
02:30If you blow it in that first kilometre, that's race ruined.
02:32And I've seen one girl come off after, I don't know, about one and a half K.
02:37I'm not sure what happened there exactly, but, yeah, I could have fully seen myself in that position
02:42if I didn't run sensibly and quite proud of the way I executed it, to be honest.
02:46And you're always quite busy. What's next?
02:50Literally always busy.
02:51So tomorrow I fly out to Billen, and I have a race on Saturday night on the road,
02:57which would be pretty cool.
02:58So, yeah, no rest for the wicked.
03:00Well, I hope it finishes in time so you can watch David.
03:03Yeah, just on that, I've got European tickets to go and watch David in Birmingham in a few weeks,
03:10so I'm really looking forward to that on the finish straight,
03:12so I'll have my Manx flag out to support him.
03:15Well done, you did the island pride as always.
03:17Thank you so much.
03:18Bye.
