00:00Eating out at lunchtime doesn't have to mean paying full price.
00:07Newcastle's NE1 is encouraging people back into the city on Tuesdays with its lunch club,
00:12bringing together a range of restaurants and cafes, offering special lunchtime deals.
00:18So NE1's lunch club is back. It's an exclusive lunch offer that has taken place across over 30 venues in the city.
00:25People are a little bit sad that restaurant week's over.
00:27It's a great opportunity to get back out and enjoy some more foodie spots.
00:30So it's running every Tuesday for the foreseeable.
00:33So it's a great opportunity to leave the lunch box at home and get yourself some nice food on your lunch break,
00:38meet up with some friends, whether you want to go on your own, loads of ways to use it in a fun way.
00:42It's a great opportunity as well to support some local businesses.
00:45We've got lots of independent cafes involved and some nice venues.
00:48So lots of opportunity to try some new different places out.
00:51So we've got some returning favourites like Meat Stack, Acropolis and Olive & Bean joining the offer this time.
00:57We've also got some new people like Flight Club, which is a really exciting one,
01:01and also the dispensary to get some pancakes.
01:03And it's a really great opportunity to try the offers out on the Tuesday
01:07because you can't actually get those offers at any other time during the week or the year.
01:10So they're exclusive to the scheme.
01:14So yeah.
01:16With dozens of venues involved, anyone hopes the Tuesday Lunch Club will boost midweek footfall
01:21and support city centre businesses.
01:24So originally we started Lunch Club because I think a couple venues had come to us
01:29struggling with some midweek lunchtime trade.
01:31I think with a lot of people working from home now, that has kind of dipped.
01:35So we took that back, reflected on it and tried to figure out how we could help these local venues.
01:40So that's where we came up with Lunch Club.
01:42So it's a great opportunity to get workers, people who are in the city,
01:47to actually dine in the restaurants in town rather than bringing in their lunch box
01:52and have something a little bit more exciting for lunch and support local.
01:56It's similar to Restaurant Week.
01:57People can try it out at a bit of a lower risk.
02:00You know, you're not spending a fortune, you can try somewhere new.
02:03If you love it, brilliant, you can go back as many times as you want.
02:06And if you don't, try somewhere new next week.
02:08It's really fun.
02:10I think it's going to help a lot of venues just boost that lunchtime trade,
02:15where it otherwise would be quieter.
02:17It's giving people in the city an opportunity to do something a little bit different to their norm,
02:23leave their lunch boxes at home and come in and visit and spend in those venues,
02:27which is really important for keeping them open and keeping the city open.
02:31You know, we want venues to stay open.
02:33And this can be a real lifeline to kind of help venues get the kind of business that they need.
02:38It's similar to Restaurant Week.
02:39People can try it out at a bit of a lower risk.
02:42You know, you're not spending a fortune.
02:44Anyone's Lunch Club takes place every Tuesday,
02:47giving people the chance to explore different places to eat at lunchtime.
02:52Organizers say it's about supporting hospitality while encouraging more people into the city during the week.
02:58Which would be the best to support every Sunday,
03:00for alright.
03:01This is cool, this is the same.
03:02I'll go to the outpost where some of them are on-site.
