00:02Authorities say that emergency crews were called to this street in Wiley Park just after 9.30 last night.
00:08But they were confronted with what crews have called a very ferocious blaze.
00:13Now, police were also at the scene.
00:14They helped evacuate neighbouring residents while fire crews were able to get in and then battle the flames.
00:20They say there was quite a few issues that they had getting access to the property.
00:24The fire had started in a granny flat out the back of the home.
00:27And they had to sort of drag their hose through the garden and navigate around a number of items that
00:33were in the garden before they made it to the home itself.
00:35A lot of those items had caught a light as well, so they had to extinguish those before they gained
00:40access to the property.
00:42Once they got inside, they were again confronted by a very intense fire.
00:47There were a number of items that they had to get around.
00:49And once they managed to put it out, they did find the bodies of three people inside.
00:54Now, police are still working to identify those three bodies, but Fire and Rescue Commissioner Jeremy Futrell did speak to
01:00the media today.
01:01And here's what he had to say.
01:03Our fire investigators have worked through the night with New South Wales Police Forensics Officers to examine the scene.
01:11And the process of determining the fire cause and origin is still underway.
01:15The fire investigators and forensics will be working throughout the day to continue that work.
01:21And we're keen to see what they come up with in terms of a cause, an area of origin for
01:27the fire.
01:28To lose three people in one fire like this is an absolute tragedy.
01:32It is devastating for the family of those people that have been lost last night.
01:36It has a severe impact on the surrounding neighbourhood and the community in this area and also provides an impact
01:43on the firefighters and the other emergency responders who attended the scene.
01:48We don't know a whole lot about the victims of this tragic blaze, but firefighters said that it was the
01:55usual occupants of that home.
01:57And police have said that this was a family home where a 50-year-old male, a 43-year-old
02:01woman and a 16-year-old boy lived.
02:03Now, as we heard, crews are now combing through the scene today just to work out exactly how that fire
02:09started.
02:10We've seen dogs brought in.
02:12We've seen the arson squad also investigating, although there is no word on what exactly caused the fire.
02:18They're not sure if there was a working smoke alarm at the scene, but crews have used this as a
02:22tragic reminder to tell all residents just to make sure that their own smoke alarms are working.
02:27Especially during winter, they're using their heaters correctly and they've got a fire safety plan in place.
02:33Some of them have moved already, they've been on fire.
02:34But there were so many describe people's
