00:00What up though? Welcome back to another Convos with Kimbrough. I have two very special people
00:04in the building. Moschino Jones, Detroit underground rapper, and my guy Miles Kessler,
00:09his longtime producer. What up though? What up though? Thanks for having us. Man, I appreciate
00:12y'all stopping by. Thanks for having me. It's a pleasure, man. Now, let's get into it for people
00:17who have never heard of you before, Moschino. Tell people who you are. I'm Moschino Jones,
00:23man. I've been rapping for a while now, man. I came up in the Red Cup era, you know what
00:28I mean?
00:30Everybody know those days. I was in a group called True Great Lakers. Well, like I said,
00:37I was before a lot of these young cats time, so we got to do some research in the underground
00:42field, you know what I mean? I've been out here for a while, man. I just love to do it,
00:46so I continue to do it. That's what's up. Miles? Yeah, and I've been producing for quite a while
00:51as well, and then, you know, for a long time, you know, on my own, kind of lone wolf, and
00:59then we kind of found our chemistry. We knew about each other for a while, and then we,
01:05you know, one day decided to work and kind of, you know, take a deeper look at how we
01:11were doing things and kind of re-strategize and really, like, work as a team. So rather
01:16than, you know, a lot of the people, you got a lot of rappers working individually, producers
01:21working individually, they might collaborate here and there, but, you know, just unify
01:25under, let's do the whole operation together, you know, and treat it like an actual, like,
01:33business with strategy to it and whatnot, and then, so that's how, you know, we got here
01:39and made everything a little bit better. Okay, because I was going to ask now, how did you
01:42two first connect, and when did you realize that your sounds, like, blended so perfectly?
01:49Oh, man, we've been working for a minute now, so it's like, what, we got like 10 years in now?
01:56We, I, yeah, I don't know. I mean, because, you know, in the beginning, at least on the
02:02producer side of it, you know, you, you, there were, like, little showcase shows, and I don't
02:07even know if these still take place in the same way that they used to, but, you know, you got,
02:13like, 20 people in a room, a half of them, almost all of them are all artists, just performing in
02:17front of other artists, you know, but it makes you feel like you're kind of getting some experience
02:22and whatnot, so you'll go to those, you'll meet people, you email beats out to people and all
02:27sorts of stuff, have, like, loose songs here and there, so I think we did some work like that in
02:34the past and, like, didn't really know each other very well, but kind of, you know, had
02:39some tracks coming out that way, and then, you know, he continued to work with other people,
02:43I continued to work with other people, and then, I don't really remember what the real
02:50moment was of, like, how it happened, but one day.
02:53I would say 19, 2019 is, like, when we really just locked in the lab together and just literally
02:58was, like, all right, bro, we just, it's just me and you, let's just get it done, let's
03:02work, let's work, and just build a chemistry, and that's what we generally did, and now
03:07it's just, like, we in sync, no, like, whatever he make, I can just, I can rap over it, don't
03:12matter what type of style of the beat it is, like, it's easy.
03:15I remember, yeah, he was working on, he was putting out an album, Hustle Hound 2, and I
03:20had one track on there, and then, and then we actually met up in person after that track
03:28to, like, maybe make some more stuff for, I don't know, a future project or whatever,
03:32and then we just talked about, like, the, the team thing.
03:36I think both of us were, like, at this inflection point where it's, like, are you gonna, you
03:41can keep working in music and keep putting stuff out, but it's, like, you gotta re-evaluate
03:47at some point, like, is this just, like, a hobby?
03:50Maybe, maybe you should quit, maybe, you know, you do it here and there, but with absolutely
03:55no expectation, you're not trying to really get anywhere with it, or you're gonna start,
04:00like, we gotta make something happen, we gotta see some results, and so I think we were both
04:06on the page with that, we, like, you know, that's where we wanted to go, and so I think
04:10that like-mindedness, the sonic chemistry and all that stuff is there, but I think that's,
04:15like, you know, how it all begins and, and kind of what you need, you know?
04:21Now, Miles, do you usually build your beats around Moschino's, like, specific cadence in
04:26mind, or does Moschino, like, pull from a vault of completed tracks?
04:34I think, I think what contributes to us working well together, which is pure coincidence, is
04:42that, is that we don't work with a lot of structure expectations in place, like, I can just make
04:53whatever I feel like making, I can send it to him, and then he's versatile enough, or,
04:59you know, open-minded enough to at least, like, try it, even if it's, like, a departure from,
05:05you know, maybe you have in your head of, like, this is what's hot right now, or this is where
05:09I'm trying to go, or whatever, but, you know, just try this out, or whatever, he's never
05:13been, like, averse to, to that type of stuff, and so I think that just ultimately worked super
05:20well, and, and it helped us, like, find new pockets, new lanes, new things, because that's
05:26ultimately what you need is, you need something that just doesn't sound like everything that's
05:31coming out, you know?
05:32Most definitely.
05:34Now, can you share a time when, uh, you need, both of you can answer this, any time you completely
05:41disagreed on the direction of a song, and if so, how did you resolve it?
05:46Man, we got a lot of disagreements in the studio, bro.
05:49It's like, because he's a genius in his right, and I'm a genius in my right, so it's like,
05:53we always battling and clashing, and sometimes it might be a sample where it's a cut that I
05:59wanted to switch up, or something like that, and he's like, no, because it makes sense
06:02like this, and it's like, no, the way I want to rap is like this, though, and it's like
06:05this, so we really just kind of infuse everything together, and come out with, you know what
06:10I mean, a classic, you know what I mean, everything we do is going to be a classic, so, and
06:14then
06:14it ended up coming out good every time, for real.
06:16Okay.
06:17But it's not a lot.
06:17Not a lot.
06:18Not a lot.
06:19Okay, well, that's good, that's good.
06:20And it's never contentious, like, that's also, I think, a super important thing of how, what you
06:25need in order to, especially, like, producer-artist kind of duo, or any type of relationship, it's
06:31like, you need to be able to, I mean, if you care, if you want to get better and stuff,
06:36you
06:36need to be able to have the conversations with no ego, where it's like, I don't think what
06:43you're saying after, you're losing the point of the song, or whatever, or him saying, like,
06:49like, that, you know, it destroys the kind of, like, groove of the track, you know, that
06:55noise there, or whatever, or this needs drums, or whatever, you need to be able to just be
06:59honest about it, and know that the other person's not going to take it offensive, and if I don't
07:04agree with it, then I could just stand on that and say, like, I disagree, you know, and
07:08maybe that track doesn't work, maybe we just make another one, you know?
07:11Okay.
07:12We work so much in a day, though, you know what I mean?
07:14So we're doing four or five records, so if we go back and forth on one record, and we
07:19don't finish that one record, we'll come back to it later in the week, or down the line,
07:22Yeah, if it was meant to be, and if it's not, then whatever, it's just.
07:26This gold goes in the vault?
07:27Rough draft, yeah.
07:28Okay, basically.
07:30That's cool.
07:31Now, your music frequently references local stables, like Wilbert Ave, Belle Isle.
07:37What makes these locations so integral to your sound?
07:42Man, I'm from Detroit.
07:43You know what I mean?
07:44Like, and Woodward has always been, like, a childhood staple for me.
07:48I feel like I'm a big car freak, bro.
07:51I love old schools.
07:52I love classics.
07:53So me and my pops, we always go to the Dream Cruises.
07:57So it's like, that's my field.
08:00That's my house.
08:00That's my home.
08:01So it's like, I always want to tie into Woodward for some reason.
08:05I just, like, that's where my home is.
08:07That's where the heart is, for real.
08:08What you driving?
08:101968 Revere.
08:11Yeah, Buick.
08:12Yeah, big dog.
08:13That's nice.
08:14Yeah, man.
08:14That's my baby.
08:15Okay.
08:16That's my baby.
08:16But I'm working on a 6-4 Impala right now.
08:19Okay.
08:19So hopefully that baby get, you know what I mean?
08:21Yeah, my cousin, he's into the old school cars.
08:24Me, I mean, I like him.
08:26But I don't have the money or the time to devote.
08:30It's expensive, bro.
08:31Yeah.
08:32It's expensive, bro.
08:32Even storing it is expensive, man.
08:35So anybody who do it, they know, man.
08:38It's a baby.
08:39It's a real-life child.
08:40For real, bro.
08:41I think he has this Trans Am that he's working on right now.
08:44I don't know what year it is, but-
08:46That's hard.
08:46Yeah, it's got the T-top and all that.
08:48All right, man.
08:49Yeah, I want a money with the T-top.
08:51I'm trying to get one of those next year.
08:52I think he has one of those, too.
08:53Oh, yeah.
08:53I need to holler at him.
08:54You trying to sell it?
08:55Yeah.
08:55You trying to sell it?
08:56I ask him.
08:57I think one of our mutual friends knows my cousin.
09:00So we'll talk off-camera about that one.
09:02Say less.
09:02Say less.
09:02Say less.
09:03Say less.
09:04So Detroit has a highly distinct rap sub-genre, of course.
09:09How do you two balance staying true to the raw street sound while crafting a smooth, widely
09:16accessible vibe?
09:17Because the music is a vibe, for sure.
09:19For sure.
09:20Just talking about our lifestyle, man.
09:23Like, what are we doing today?
09:23How I'm feeling today?
09:25What's my mood?
09:27What am I going through?
09:28Stuff like that, man.
09:29Like, I don't really...
09:30I'm not big on social media, to be honest.
09:32Can't tell from the posts and stuff like that.
09:34I kind of keep to myself, unfortunately.
09:36But fortunately, you feel me?
09:38But, you know, I stick to myself and I do what I just talk about how I'm living day-to
09:43-day.
09:43Yeah.
09:43How I woke up this morning.
09:45You know, how you feel when you do beats?
09:46How's the use?
09:47Yeah.
09:48Well, I mean, we've, like, experimented with, you know, trying to put different sonic themes
09:55into different albums and, like, separate it that way.
09:59Where it's, like, you know, this one's going to be, like, a Wavier album and it's going
10:04to have the 808s.
10:05It's going to have all of that.
10:06Or, you know, or this one's going to be, like, more sampled, more old school and whatnot.
10:14And we've also just, like, released singles.
10:15But I think the best thing we've done is just, like, detach from all of that and just, like,
10:22put out singles.
10:23Like, you know, one year we did one single every week for all 52 weeks.
10:31And then, you know, if you try to do something like that, if you put that into practice,
10:37I mean, you can't, you're going to need to, you're going to get a lot of different sounds
10:42out of that and whatnot.
10:43And it's just, you know, it's a lot of work to put together.
10:48And I think sometimes you get surprised by what works and what doesn't work.
10:53You know, you think you've got, like, this one.
10:55Especially, like, with the Detroit sound, you see so many rappers in this area build a name
11:03on a specific sound.
11:04And so you think, if we do that, that's how we, maybe we get the possibility of getting
11:11a feature with one of these people.
11:13Or maybe they find out who we are.
11:15Maybe.
11:16I think that's, like, the level one strategy.
11:19But, you know, eventually you, like, level up to realize, like, that none of that matters.
11:25They don't need to figure out who you are.
11:27That you don't need a feature from this person.
11:29You don't need that sound.
11:31You know what I mean?
11:32You look at, like, mainstream, all the different, like, even, like, mainstream underground, right?
11:38Like, the underground artists that are, like, pretty big, but not necessarily, like, headlining,
11:46you know, a big pop festival or whatever.
11:49Right.
11:50You know, these, all these sounds, like, exist and have big markets, you know?
11:56So, sometimes a lot bigger than, like, the Detroit sound.
11:59Which I love, but, you know.
12:01So we'll make it sometimes.
12:02I don't know.
12:03I feel that.
12:03I try to stay in my lane.
12:04Yeah.
12:04I know my lane.
12:05I try to stay in.
12:06There's a lot of stuff, like, a lot of Detroit artists I listen to, you know what I mean?
12:09Like, they might talk about some stuff that I don't know nothing about.
12:12Right, right, right.
12:13I mean, I don't want to tap into something that I don't know nothing about.
12:15Exactly.
12:15So I just stick to what I know.
12:16And if another artist here that's from the city and want to collab, you know, vice versa,
12:22we can just do it.
12:23Like, you know what I mean?
12:24I'm going to be on the same playing field.
12:25Now, is there anybody that you haven't worked with that you would like to work with?
12:29I want to work with everybody in the city.
12:30Okay.
12:31To be honest.
12:31And I'm the type of guy that just want to do it.
12:33Yeah.
12:34Whoever hit me up to work, I want to work.
12:35I'll reach out to a lot of people, a lot of artists, you know what I mean?
12:38Mm-hmm.
12:38Of course, politics got to get involved in the air nine in.
12:41And it ruins some stuff, but it is what it is.
12:44So I'm going to make sure I always try to reach out to the city for sure to work.
12:47I feel that.
12:47I feel that.
12:48Now, let's get into this latest single, Grab a Coat.
12:51Now, this features a very distinct winter vibe.
12:54Of course, you know, it gets real cold here.
12:56What was the creative spark behind that record?
13:00Other than being cold?
13:01Yeah.
13:02Man.
13:03Just like as a man, man, as I get older, you know, you a man, you know what I mean?
13:08You a man, we go through stuff.
13:09You know what I mean?
13:10We got families.
13:11You got to get a job.
13:12You got to do this.
13:13Your bills got to get paid.
13:14You know what I mean?
13:14It's not all about the weather or just physically being cold.
13:17Yeah.
13:17Sometimes this world can get cold.
13:19You know what I mean?
13:19People around you can get cold.
13:21Sometimes you got to tap into that bag and get comfy and figure it out and make it out
13:26through these situations that come about.
13:28So that's where it really came from.
13:30That's exactly what I was thinking when I heard it.
13:32I was like, grab a Coat and go, man, you better bundle up.
13:34Hey, you got to get out there and get it.
13:36Yeah.
13:36It don't matter what the weather is or what you're going through.
13:38You got to bundle up.
13:40Go get it.
13:41Yeah.
13:41That's how I feel.
13:42So that's where that record came from, man.
13:44Just me having to really suck it up and go out there and get it.
13:47Just grind.
13:48You know what I mean?
13:48I feel that.
13:51Now, that track has a bold, like you said, thing of ambition.
13:58What does the hustle hound mentality mean for your business structure and the label moving forward?
14:04Going to get it.
14:06No matter what.
14:07I don't care what you're going through in life.
14:09You need a job.
14:11You're nine to fives.
14:12I don't care if you're a janitor, radio, anything you're doing to generate some wealth or some money for your
14:18family, that's a hustle hound.
14:20That's the hustle hound mentality.
14:21Waking up and going out there and find your hustle every single day.
14:25I feel that.
14:25You know what I mean?
14:25That's why I came up with hustle hound because I feel like I'm truly a hustle hound.
14:29Every single day I wake up, I'm checking emails.
14:32What's in there?
14:32Who can I reach out to?
14:34You know what I mean?
14:34I'm on my phone.
14:35Who can I reach out to?
14:36What do I need to do?
14:37Oh, this bill is due?
14:38Okay, I can't go do this, so I need to go figure this out.
14:41I need another job.
14:42I got a night job.
14:44What's up?
14:45You got to do what you got to do.
14:46That's a hustle hound, man.
14:48I feel that.
14:48You know what I mean?
14:48So that's why hustle hound has been my label, and that's my stamp.
14:53That's what I'm proud of.
14:54Now, how long have you been having a label?
14:57I have my label for, what, 15 years now?
14:59Okay.
14:59Yeah, 15 years.
15:01I've just been just pushing it.
15:03Okay.
15:03Just pushing it.
15:04Okay.
15:05Now, Miles, do you work for a label as well?
15:08It's my partner.
15:09Okay.
15:09It's my partner.
15:10Okay.
15:1050 partners for hustle hound records.
15:12That's what's up.
15:12Yeah, like, as of 2019, we just went, you know, full in-house together with all the stuff we're doing.
15:21So, yeah.
15:22That's what's up.
15:23Now, let's talk about the song, Quincy.
15:27I was listening to that on the way here.
15:29For sure.
15:30Now, Moschino, you explicitly thanked Miles and called him, like, the beat,
15:37called the beat-making process a therapy session.
15:40Can you talk about using music to process heavy motions and, like, burnout, depression,
15:45and stuff like that?
15:46For sure.
15:47You know, all right.
15:48So, a lot of men, as men, we don't really generally write.
15:51We ain't got diaries.
15:52You know what I mean?
15:52That's more of a female thing.
15:54That may be a whole story right there.
15:55But we don't write diaries.
15:57So, our diary sometimes is music and being vocal.
16:00You know what I mean?
16:01So, Quincy was one of those records where I just wanted to pour everything out, man,
16:06and express to the world what I'm going through because somebody else may be going through the same thing
16:11and it may help them out.
16:13I try to just help people out with depression and all that good stuff because I go through a lot,
16:17too.
16:17I'm stressed.
16:18You know what I mean?
16:18I have my son.
16:20I'm in the – crazy thing is, bro, I was living in the penthouse, man,
16:23and I'm going through all that stuff, bro, and I'm, like, on my knuckles.
16:26You feel me?
16:27Trying to figure a house.
16:28Penthouse in Atlanta, man.
16:29I'm going through it.
16:30You feel me?
16:31With a newborn.
16:32Wow.
16:33It's crazy.
16:33It was, like, it wasn't – me being in that penthouse wasn't no different than me being on seven minor
16:39fielding
16:40with my mom growing up.
16:41You know what I mean?
16:42And she working her ass off and we barely paying rent.
16:44It was, like, the same thing.
16:45So, it was, like, being able to tap into that and get them feelings out, man, on a beat that
16:51Miles got from me.
16:52It was, like, it's music to my ears.
16:54Yeah.
16:54It's music to my ears.
16:55Now, your lyrics heavily feature, like, you know, luxury style, high-end design, self-care, of course.
17:02How important is styling and image to the overall Moschino Jones brand?
17:07Man, as long as I got it, I'm going to put it on.
17:11You feel me?
17:12It's going to be times when you ain't got it.
17:13You got to tap into a Zara bag or H&M bag.
17:16You're going to make it look good.
17:18But at the end of the day, man, I'm trying to – I'm just trying to give people a sense
17:24of the lifestyle that I've been having since I was a kid, man.
17:27You know what I mean?
17:27Me and my pops was a D-boy and had me and my brother in the most fly stuff whenever
17:32he could.
17:32You feel me?
17:33When he could, every time he could.
17:35So, I just put that in my brain every day, man.
17:38Wake up, put it on.
17:40Yeah.
17:40You know what I mean?
17:41You never know who you're going to run into.
17:43That's what's up.
17:44Now, you talk heavily about ownership investments and staying tax-free.
17:48What is the biggest lesson you want independent artists to take away from your business model?
17:53Don't be afraid to try something new.
17:56Don't be afraid to invest in something.
17:58Don't be afraid to take a loss.
17:59Yeah.
18:00You got to learn from them L's, man.
18:02A lot of people think you're going to be 52-0 like Floyd for your whole life.
18:06Like, no.
18:07You got to take them L's.
18:09Mike Tyson took them L's and he's still the people's champ.
18:12You feel me?
18:12So, it's like learn from them L's, man.
18:15Invest.
18:15Take an L.
18:16So, if you want to get into stocks and stuff like that, you want to tap into the market,
18:20tap into the market.
18:21You know what I'm saying?
18:22Sometimes you're going to have to take that loss.
18:23A couple thousand dollar loss.
18:24A couple hundred dollar loss.
18:25Yeah.
18:26You're going to learn from it, though.
18:27You know what I mean?
18:27I learned from a lot of losses.
18:29So, if anything, I just want my listeners to know that you can learn from a loss.
18:33Okay.
18:33You know what I mean?
18:34I respect that.
18:35I also think people need to pay attention to what, you know, like stop paying attention to
18:43what you see other people doing and what's helping them and just pay attention to the
18:50actual process.
18:52Like one of the things we learned, like, you know, in like the first year that we were
18:58all like, you know, getting all this music together, starting to put it out and be a team
19:05and whatnot, we would post the music and then we would like put it on the, you know, Instagram.
19:11We need content on social media and all this different stuff.
19:13And we would have conversations of like, man, we need, we're not seeing the numbers, like
19:20from the music the way we want to.
19:23We need to like, we all need to post like two times a week, three times a week.
19:27Coming up with all these things that you see, all these Instagram carousels telling you,
19:31like, this is how you grow font.
19:34And then the biggest rise we had in music where we actually passed like into the millions
19:41of streams and whatnot, all of that was with no social media posts.
19:46We, that whole 52 weeks of releases we did, we did no, maybe three songs, four songs out
19:54of the 52 have a social media post associated with them.
19:59None of the other ones do, you know, when the song comes out, like personally, him too,
20:05like we'll put it on a story, like the song's out or whatever.
20:08And then that's it for social media because like we were, you know, you think about it
20:15and you go like, okay, that's what everyone tells you to do and that could help.
20:19But then you got a lot of people, even some local people that have like these huge followings
20:23and then you look at their Spotify, Spotify and Apple Music doesn't, but Spotify will
20:27tell you the monthly listeners that somebody has, you know?
20:30So you could see somebody that, oh, this hell of a repost this person and all these people,
20:35you know, they're like in the network, you know, for the, you know, the local sound.
20:42And then you look at, and thousands of like likes and reposts and then you go to the Spotify
20:48and they got like 3,000 monthly listeners.
20:50And I'm not saying that, be proud of it, you know, that everyone has to go through that
20:54phase, but you just go like, it doesn't add up.
20:58And we were able to pass that without, without a 10th of that social media action because you
21:04realize like when you're listening to music, you're not on Instagram.
21:08You're in Apple Music or you're in Spotify.
21:11That's the app you're using when you're listening to music.
21:13Right.
21:14You rarely are doom scrolling and then like go, you might hear a song and add it to the,
21:21you know, now they have the button like add to the Spotify or whatever.
21:25Yeah.
21:25Yeah.
21:26From the social media, but you don't just close out that app and then just have a music listening
21:31session.
21:32So we realized like, where are you putting the focus?
21:35What's working?
21:36What's not or whatever.
21:37And don't like, just go off of the actual, what's actually happening in front of your
21:43eyes, not what you hear other people saying is what, you know, and it's ironic because
21:48I'm saying now I'm a person saying what works and then, you know, I'm telling them to not
21:54listen to people who say what works, but you know, something, something in there, you
21:59know,
22:00it's got to be organic.
22:01Oh yeah.
22:01I just like putting that record out.
22:02Mm-hmm.
22:03The right ear here, you know what I mean?
22:05Who needs to hear?
22:06If you don't, you will eventually hear it.
22:07I don't care if it's two, three years down the line, but you will hear it.
22:10If you like it, you love it.
22:11Cool.
22:12Follow me.
22:13You know what I mean?
22:13There's another single I need to get into.
22:15I don't know whose story it was on, but it's Houston.
22:19Houston.
22:19Yeah.
22:19Yeah.
22:20We just dropped that Tuesday.
22:21Okay.
22:21Okay.
22:22Yeah.
22:22So single I need to get into.
22:23I'm like, wait, this is new.
22:24Like I haven't heard this one.
22:25Yep.
22:26So I'm dropping it every week, every other week, every month.
22:29It's going to be releases.
22:30So it's like, I try to load my, my fans up with that.
22:34Like at least I can do, if I don't give you no content, at least I can do is give
22:38you
22:38the music.
22:39You feel me?
22:40So that's my thing, man.
22:41But I also grew up in the, the, the, the backpack era where you just pulling up, popping a trunk
22:46and selling CDs and t-shirts and stuff.
22:48So getting into this whole social media thing, it's just not, it's not me, man.
22:53You know what I mean?
22:53I feel that, but also, cause I don't post a lot.
22:57A lot of people will say I don't, I should post more.
23:01And it's, it's kind of like a double edged sword.
23:04You know what I'm saying?
23:04Cause you need it to kind of like, I wouldn't say need it in that aspect, but like you need
23:10it to like promote yourself, promote your brand, stuff like that.
23:14But at the same time, it gets kind of draining a little bit.
23:17Especially when you've got stuff going on outside of that world.
23:21Exactly.
23:22You're picking your son up from this, taking him to practice.
23:25Exactly.
23:25You know what I mean?
23:25Your significant other needs some help with this.
23:27You got to do this.
23:29It's a bunch of stuff that come with this.
23:30I can't just sit with a phone in my hand all day and stuff like that.
23:34I was, um, I don't know who, who it was.
23:36It was a streamer or something like that where they were saying that they take a, like a social
23:40media break from like, I don't know, like nine to five or 10 to four or something like
23:45that.
23:46And I'm thought about like, you know what, maybe I should do that.
23:49And I guess he basically like locks himself out of social media, which I'm thinking about
23:55like, you know, maybe I should try to take a page out of that book, at least like for
23:58a couple hours.
23:59You know what I'm saying?
24:01My email is my new social media, honestly.
24:03I wake up and scroll my emails.
24:05That's where all the business is.
24:07Seriously.
24:07Right, right, right.
24:07I mean, you can make some money on social media.
24:10Obviously you can.
24:11Right.
24:12But like I said, I just got an old school mentality, man.
24:14It's right there on my phone.
24:16I'm an email person.
24:17I feel that.
24:17It takes a message to the person.
24:18Hold on.
24:19Let me scroll down and see who hit me up last week about something that I could possibly
24:23make some money today with.
24:24Right.
24:24You know what I mean?
24:25I ain't got time to really build up a whole, I need a million subscribers.
24:30And until I started getting monetized, and it's like, man, that's exactly right.
24:35And I think ultimately, it's kind of a repackage of what I was saying, but based on, you know,
24:40some of the things you just said, it's like, it's also just what you do well, right?
24:45Like if you're good at talking on a camera and you have like a super charismatic personality
24:50and you could just like come up with stuff to say, or you could be super funny, or you
24:55could make a dance or whatever.
24:56If that's your, if you're good at that, then use the social media.
24:59It's just, we realized that like, you know, and some people they take, they take, it takes
25:05them three months to put like two songs together or whatever.
25:09And they put a lot of thought into it and, and, and all of that.
25:13And it just, you know, they're tweaking processes long or whatever the case is.
25:18We just realized that the thing that we're good at, our thing that separates us from other
25:23people is that we can go in and, and make a song like today, and then we can, he can
25:29come
25:30over again in two days and we can make another song like actual, like finished song.
25:35And so we realized like some people can't on both of the sides, the, the recording artist
25:41and the producer side, some people just can't do this or have this flow.
25:46So let's, if that's what we're good at, why don't we just focus on dropping a song every
25:50week and not do the social media thing because we're not good at that.
25:53I feel that in the hopes of meeting somebody too, though, like, you know what I mean?
25:56Like the, our team is open for new teammates.
26:00You feel me?
26:00If anybody out there listening and you see this clip or whatever the case may be, and
26:04you want to reach out and help with content creating and help with our social medias,
26:08come on.
26:09Okay.
26:10Welcome to the Hustle Hound family.
26:11I'll be honest with you.
26:12Like, yeah, I'm, I'm all about playing your position.
26:15You know what I mean?
26:16If I'm a rapper, I know, I know how to rap.
26:18Let me just rap.
26:19You know what I mean?
26:20Miles is a producer.
26:21He's a great businessman too.
26:22He's like a nerd with the books.
26:24So when it comes to that, that's his lane.
26:27You know what I mean?
26:27He's the coach.
26:28He got the clipboard.
26:29You know what I mean?
26:30I'm just a quarterback.
26:31I'm going to just throw these touchdowns and make sure these records are good and complete.
26:34And we could.
26:35I feel that.
26:36You know what I mean?
26:36But if you as a content creator out there and you want to reach out and help, come on.
26:41Join the squad.
26:42I feel that.
26:43Join the squad.
26:43I got a couple more questions before I let you guys go.
26:46Now, I know you're dropping like singles and stuff like that every week and stuff like that.
26:51Can fans expect a full-length album, joint album, maybe soon?
26:57Or what upcoming singles should we be listening out for?
27:01So how we work is when we release these singles, we usually body them all up into making one creative
27:10project.
27:11So right now, everything that you're hearing that releases right now, like Houston, which dropped this week, it will be
27:17a part of the Hustle Hound 3 record that we're dropping, which is a completed, packaged album.
27:23And I think we're going to have 12 records, 13 records.
27:27We may still add.
27:28It could be.
27:29Yeah, we could add.
27:29It gives us the time frame to add records as we go.
27:35So if I say today is 13, if we're dropping a single every week, we may go 15 or 16
27:43weeks and be like, all right, cool.
27:44Because like I said, we make stuff every single day.
27:47Make it even 20.
27:47I can make it 40.
27:48Make it 40.
27:49I can make it 40.
27:50It's a triple album.
27:53One big body, you know what I mean?
27:54Make it a double album.
27:55Why not?
27:56That's a fact.
27:57That's a fact.
27:57Well, yeah, that's how I go.
27:58Everything really is done.
28:00We do a whole project, and then we just release them as singles.
28:03And then by the end of the release for the last single, we drop the whole body of work that
28:09following week.
28:09And there you go.
28:10You got everything.
28:11It's in sync.
28:12You listen to everything one by one.
28:13We saw a lot of good, I guess, success from Meet Me on World War II was an album that
28:22we did together.
28:23Meet Me on World War I was, you know, it was like, I think it was conceptually strong and whatnot,
28:30and it kind of laid the foundation.
28:31But then Meet Me on World War II was quite popular.
28:35So, I mean, we need to make a Meet Me on World War III.
28:38And that's an album that just him and I, the Meet Me on World War II series is just him
28:42and I.
28:42Like, Hustle Hound III is, like, some other producers as well.
28:47Like, it's everyone that we work with.
28:49My boy Cash Made It, man.
28:51That's my brother.
28:52Yeah.
28:52That's how Cash Made It, man.
28:53He got a couple records on there.
28:56Striker.
28:57Striker from Atlanta.
28:58Okay.
28:58He got some records on there.
28:59So, there's a bunch of producers, too, on, like, my Hustle Hound series.
29:04Nice.
29:04Not just Miles, but when we get to, like, Meet Me on Woodward's, that's all my brother Miles.
29:09That's all.
29:10Hopefully, we'll have that sometime this year.
29:13Yeah.
29:13We're working on Hustle Hound III, but then that's kind of working in the background as well.
29:17That's the baby.
29:18Yeah.
29:18The Meet Me on Woodward series is the baby.
29:20We got to take it very carefully and seriously now that that's a trap, you know?
29:25Like, but it's something that's real at the same time.
29:28You see something that a lot of people like, the people in other countries and random people
29:33you don't know are, like, treating you like you're a big deal for the first time.
29:37You know, it's like, you got to kind of take that seriously and make sure you don't mess
29:42it all up, you know?
29:43Oh, yeah, because the sound is incredible.
29:44I don't know where...
29:45That's where Quincy was and some of those songs.
29:48Like, some of those songs are, yeah, some of the more popular ones.
29:51Because I am a huge fan of, like, an old school beat and stuff like that.
29:55I don't know where you pulled these samples from.
29:58Oh, man.
29:59But it was one track.
30:00I don't know if it was Quincy.
30:04Oh.
30:05See, now I got to look on my phone.
30:06I tried to be very deliberate.
30:08I mean, we had conversations, but I was super deliberate about, and I don't know if it's
30:15the case, maybe one of those songs somebody else could say, oh, so-and-so used that same
30:19sample.
30:20So, from what I, and I mean, I've, my listening has, over my lifetime, has been at a huge range
30:31within hip-hop and rap, like, vastly different sub-genres.
30:36I'm pretty sure almost most of those samples are actually, you know, not seen on other
30:45albums or classic albums.
30:47But they feel like classic samples.
30:49Like, so I wanted it to feel like the same feeling you get when you hear, I mean, name
30:55a Jay-Z album, you know.
30:56But it's like, when you hear some of those records and you hear that sample for the first
31:01time and you go like, ah, and it's so soulful and whatnot, but you also never heard it.
31:05Song cry, song cry, song cry pops in my head.
31:07And it's your first time hearing that sample.
31:09Mm-hmm.
31:10I love that, where it's like, ah, how can we do that?
31:14Where it's like, we're not flipping something that somebody else has already, it's that first
31:18time you're hearing it and it hopefully is knocked out of the park, you know.
31:21All right.
31:22Yeah.
31:22All right.
31:23Well, I appreciate y'all stopping by, man.
31:25Like, I know we could talk on and on.
31:28I know Will got some other stuff he gotta do.
31:31He says, you good?
31:32We keep going?
31:33Another 30 minutes?
31:35Say less.
31:35Say less.
31:36For real, though.
31:36But where can listeners, first of all, I know we already talked about social media and stuff
31:42like that, but where can they follow you at on social media?
31:45Moschino Jones, at Moschino Jones on everything, at Moschino Jones and also at Hustle Hunt Records.
31:52Okay.
31:52That's the label, so you can follow the label as well.
31:55Cool.
31:56Miles, where can they follow you at?
31:57Yeah, Miles Kessler or just, you know, the best place you can follow us at is in your streaming
32:03app.
32:03Just go look up Moschino Jones and whatever, Apple Music, Tidal, Spotify, whatever.
32:09Hit the following artist button there, you know?
32:11Because that's where you're going to see the most action anyways.
32:13I mean, we're not going to, maybe tomorrow we start making up dances to the records, but
32:17right now, it's like, we're not, you know, as of right now, you're not really going to
32:21see anything on social media.
32:22I mean, it can help you stay in tune with, like, there's a story drop.
32:27Right.
32:27Or whatever, oh, new song is out, but for now, it's every Tuesday there's a new song,
32:31you know?
32:32So, you'll see it in the app if you start listening, you know?
32:36All right, Moschino Jones, my guy Miles Kessler.
32:38Anywhere you listen to music, stream it, subscribe, all that.
32:44Another Convos with Kimbrough.
32:45We out.
