00:03We played Burt Breer earlier, was on early edition on NBC Sports Boston last night,
00:07saying the team and Gonzalez aren't close.
00:09What's the latest you're hearing on the situation?
00:11Yeah, look, I think they're just kind of in a stasis.
00:13And the interesting part of this, as everyone has noted,
00:15is Gonzalez shares an agent with Devin Witherspoon, which we've all known for a long time.
00:18But the GMs involved are also really close.
00:21Like, Elliott Wolfe and John Snyder have an older brother, younger brother dynamic there.
00:25And so I'm not saying that they're kind of colluding in this instance,
00:27but I think they're going to understand how the other guy wants to play this.
00:31And so Devin Witherspoon, in my opinion, and some of the reporting suggests this,
00:34should get a deal sooner because he's not as good as Christian Gonzalez.
00:37And then Christian Gonzalez goes, I'll just sit back and wait,
00:39and then we'll tack on $2, $3, $4 million on top of that.
00:42So we know this is more complicated than just one number.
00:45It's a guarantee. It's average annual value, injury insurance, et cetera.
00:48But it seems like they're in a holding pattern,
00:50and at least Gonzalez is playing nice by being out here on the field.
