00:00Way to go, right?
00:01Like this was for him to be considered he had to win this summer.
00:05Now that box is checked, makes a cut at the U.S. Open, finishes top 25.
00:09That's a really good start in itself.
00:11But I think, you know, when he's John Deere was his first start and missed the cut.
00:17So I think initially I'm thinking, all right, maybe playing as a professional is going to be a little bit
00:23too much to start.
00:24He'll kind of find his groove and then he'll eventually start to get in contention a little bit more, kind
00:28of work his way up.
00:30And then you start to see and then you see his route on Saturday.
00:32He shoots at 61.
00:34And I'm thinking, oh, boy, he's here.
00:37I know this place is a shootout.
00:39I know this golf course is considered to be one of the easier ones.
00:43There's no wind.
00:43It's hot.
00:44Greens are soft.
00:45And they were tearing it up.
00:46Michael Kim shot at 59 on Friday.
00:49Kuyvan shoots at 61.
00:51And then I think the coolest part about this storyline heading into today was just that Scotty Sheffer was kind
00:58of within shouting distance.
01:00Got off to a good start.
01:01He was like 300 through five holes.
01:03And Jackson got off to a good start.
01:05And I'm just thinking to myself, man, this is, you know, this is a 21-year-old kid.
01:10It's got the world number one with all the crowds out in front of him, hoping that Scotty Sheffer is
01:15going to come to their town and win the golf tournament.
01:17Meanwhile, Jackson Coleman's like, nah, I'm going to stiff it at one.
01:21And what I looked at is I've played this tournament a couple times.
01:25And you would go and play it and you would think, OK, like I can see how they shoot that
01:29on, you know, like when they have no wind and the greens are soft.
01:35But they're perfect greens.
01:37But there's tons of water out there.
01:39Like I've played this place like when a cold front, like a cold front has come through with, you know,
01:4520, 25 mile an hour winds.
01:46And that golf course gets a little like kind of dicey, like with some of those.
01:51I mean, there's pause just about on 13 of 18 holes, I think what it is.
01:55Yeah.
01:56I mean, well, we're going to have our staff, Minnesota and Jackson Brown chime in with 3M minutes.
02:02This is the second we're calling this at the end of the show.
02:04Yeah.
02:04I mean, I think it's I mean, to your point, like there was low scoring out there.
02:09There was a 59.
02:09There was Jackson Coivin, 61.
02:11But it's another thing to do it when the world number one's chasing you down on a Sunday, the crowd
02:17saying Scottie's coming.
02:18He posed 63 and you're still out there.
02:21And, of course, with a ton of water.
02:22I mean, I think that the the most nerve ridden tee shot we saw in 18 was that like 245
02:28yard sort of chunk left to stay safe in the water.
02:31But to close, you know, on a course like that, where even if playing easy with no win, there's still
02:36a lot of ways to get in trouble.
02:38That says something about your competitive drive.
02:40And, you know, he talked a little bit after the round about just, you know, the mindset of of dominating
02:45and trying to kind of take it deeper, not just protecting a lead.
02:48I thought that said a lot about him.
