00:09in the nation's capital, an honour guard of the Parliament Police lined up in front of the
00:14Cenotaph on Knock Street within the boundary of the Parliament. Soon after, President Christine
00:19Kangaloo arrived and was escorted in front of the Cenotaph, along with House Speaker
00:24Jagdeo Singh and other dignitaries, to the area where Chief of Defence Staff Don Polo
00:28and Police Commissioner Alistair Guevara were already present. After the national anthem was
00:34played, an invocation from the President of the Inter-Religious Organization, Dr. Ellis Boris.

00:44In a Facebook post, the Parliament recalled that on July 27th, 36 years ago, armed gunmen stormed
00:51the Parliament Chamber during a sitting, taking the Prime Minister and several other members of
00:55Parliament hostage. The Parliament also recalled that during the ensuing days, several persons
00:59lost their lives, including one member of Parliament, Mr. Leo Devines, who died in hospital as a result
01:06of a gunshot wound. Near the Cenotaph, on the 36th anniversary of the 1990 coup attempt, Parliament

01:18who lost their lives.

02:52A moment of silence was observed before the wreath-laying ceremony concluded.
