00:05Now, Regan, you've just finished 10th in your Commonwealth debut in the high jump final.
00:10How are you feeling?
00:11I'm happy.
00:11I left everything out on the track.
00:14The tank is completely empty right now.
00:16I just want to go home, go sleep, shut it off and then wake back up on Wednesday.
00:21Yeah, because it's been a busy day as well.
00:23You've also had the long jump earlier today.
00:25How did that affect your preparations for this this evening?
00:28Yeah, no one else is carrying that extra weight to go out there and not just go out there.
00:33I went out, massive PV, competing with guys I shouldn't really be competing with in terms of PV.
00:40So to come back in the evening the same day is tough.
00:44But we knew that risk and that's why I came here to do that.
00:48I've spoken to you previously and you've always said you want to challenge yourself against the best, don't you?
00:52And you're up against a good field tonight.
00:56Obviously you had a bit of a frustrating start when you thought you'd cleared your first attempt and the bar
01:01came down late.
01:02How did you manage to sort of respond to that? Because it was a bit frustrating for you wasn't it?
01:06You just have to get to a point where you take the emotion out of it.
01:10Emotion doesn't help, it just gets you excited and you just need to chill out, take it out and just
01:15get ready to go again, shut it all off.
01:18And that's all you really need to do.
01:19That's good. And I saw you were in quite in-depth discussions with the officials at times.
01:24Is everything alright there?
01:25There's some back and forth but that's part of sport.
01:30Yeah, it happens. It makes it more exciting if anything.
01:32And then how did you sort of evaluate the rest of your performance there?
01:35It was good, it was good. I couldn't have done anything else there.
01:39I was at my limit. On fresh legs, who knows, but that's hindsight.
01:44You can always say that, can't you? But it doesn't mean anything.
01:47It looked like it was a tough bar out there as well.
01:49It was quite unforgiving for a lot of the athletes, wasn't it?
01:51Yeah, some people seem to get some good bar look, unfortunately I didn't. Maybe I used my look this morning.
01:57Yeah, looking ahead to Wednesday then, so you've obviously got the long jump final. What are your thoughts on that?
02:02I'm really excited. I think sky's the limit.
02:07Yeah, let's just go and try to shock some people and bring it to them. I'm going to come and
02:11bring the pressure.
02:12Good. And I know you're a very ambitious person as well.
02:15And I think in a previous interview you've mentioned targeting the likes of the Olympics and things like that.
02:20What are the long term plans going forward for the next year or two?
02:24Yeah, this is a stepping stone. I always knew that just give me a chance and I'll steal it every
02:29time.
02:30I just need to be on these stages and I'll do my thing.
02:35Even though today might look as a failure to the outside, that's a massive win.
02:38To come out here with how tired I was after a long jump and to still do two or five,
02:43that's huge for me.
02:44Massive. And you're putting the Isle of Man on the map as well.
02:47I don't know how much you're aware of it when you're competing, but the amount of exposure the commentators were
02:53giving you and hyping you up and stuff.
02:55And as part of that, you were hyping up the crowd as well for a long part.
02:58Yeah, that energy is what carries me and I couldn't do it without the support from back home.
03:04The Isle of Man fans, they do or die. It's huge.
03:09And the help from my family, my girlfriend, my coach Emma, everyone else around is just phenomenal.
03:15Good. Well, you've had a phenomenal start to the year and good luck for the rest of the games, mate.
03:20Thanks so much. Cheers.
03:21I'm sorry.
