Proceedings in Parliament faced disruptions as opposition leaders, including Congress MP Karti Chidambaram, questioned police actions during student protests and demanded a statement from Home Minister Amit Shah. Following discussions with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, opposition parties agreed to participate in debate and voting on the anti-paper leak bill. Meanwhile, in Punjab, the political fallout from the NEET paper leak controversy intensified as opposition parties demanded the resignation of Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains over state examination conduct, which Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann defended. In Tamil Nadu, the Madras High Court set aside a state government order providing jobs to Karur stampede victims, recommending skill development training during the active CBI investigation. Additionally, actor Dhanush generated political speculation regarding public service entry following a recent speech and fan club activity. In Karnataka, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar traveled to New Delhi for consultations with Congress leadership as multiple key portfolios remained unallocated more than 50 days into the administration's term.

00:01Hello and welcome. Good evening. You're watching Super 6 here on India Today. I'm Akshita Nantikopalo.
00:06The next one hour while we focus on the big headlines emerging from Parliament and the deadlock that's gone on
00:12for the last many days,
00:14finally breaking with, in fact, a dialogue expected tomorrow.
00:18We're also going to be getting you a sense of all the big headlines from the southern states.
00:22So on the show this evening, the big headline from Tamil Nadu of actor Dhanush looking to be set to
00:29enter politics next.
00:31What's led to this speculation? Well, it's a speech.
00:34In fact, that's led to all of this talk that he's set to enter politics after Vijay.
00:39It could be Dhanush next. We'll decode for you what this means, the timing and so much more.
00:44Also coming up on the show, D.K. Shiv Kumar is back in the national capital in Delhi.
00:49Why? Because there's still been no cabinet expansion.
00:53We've been hearing about it for weeks together.
00:55But 50 days of this government and counting, several, over a dozen portfolios remain unallocated.
01:01We're going to be talking about what's really happening.
01:04Why isn't the high command taking a call?
01:06How is the government running if portfolios remain unallocated?
01:10So these stories, much more coming your way.
01:13We begin with big breaking news.
01:15That's coming in from Tamil Nadu.
01:22The Madras High Court, in light of Chief Minister Vijay's visit to Karoor on July 10th,
01:29has set aside the Tamil Nadu government's order granting government jobs to the families of the Karoor stampede.
01:37Remember, it was on July 10th that Chief Minister Vijay had visited Karoor,
01:41had handed over those job certificates to victims of the stampede.
01:45And now the Madras High Court has said that, no, do not go ahead and grant these jobs to the
01:52families of the stampede.
01:54Why don't you instead train them, provide them some skill?
01:58This is what the Madras High Court has ruled.
02:00Remember that while this case had come up on July 10th, on the day that Vijay had visited Karoor,
02:05at that point the Madras High Court had said they can go ahead and handle those job certificates,
02:10but that these jobs would be temporary and that they would go forward with the hearing.
02:14That hearing has now taken place and the Madras High Court has said,
02:19no, this cannot happen considering that the CBI investigation is still underway in this particular case.
02:28Pramod Madhav is joining us live with more details on this.
02:31Pramod, run us through what the Madras High Court had to say.
02:35Akshita, even before we could actually go to that, right now we also got source-based information
02:39that TVK is now planning to approach the Supreme Court over this particular order.
02:43However, what the Madras High Court Madhav bench clearly stated is that,
02:45like even on the day when the Chief Minister was going to actually hand over the orders to the families,
02:49the court very clearly stated that this is just a temporary relief
02:52and only post the kind of final hearing, everything will be clear.
02:55And it looks like Madras High Court Madhav bench very clearly says
02:58that for such a kind of like, you know, order to be going ahead and the Chief Minister
03:02are giving such kind of like, they call it as orderly jobs,
03:05even for that particular, the government jobs to the families of the victims of Karol,
03:10they need to actually...
03:11With, in fact, the latest coming in, Pramod, just stay with me.
03:13Source is telling us now that the TVK will also file an appeal in this matter in the Supreme Court.
03:19So, after the Madras High Court has gone ahead and said that,
03:23no, you cannot grant these government jobs to the victims of the stampede,
03:26now, in all likelihood, we're hearing that the TVK will appeal against this in the Supreme Court.
03:32The Supreme Court previously, when the DMK had approached them and said very clearly,
03:36we're not going to stop the executive of the state from doing his job from where he's going.
03:40So, the TVK will be counting on some relief from the Supreme Court, from the top court, Pramod.
03:47Suddenly, TVK is actually believing that they will get a kind of relief from the Supreme Court
03:50because the orders have already been handed over to the families of the victims,
03:54that took by the Chief Minister, Rakshita.
03:55And we also saw how the Chief Minister had a kind of fiery speech over there,
03:58claiming that a kind of a memorial will also be constructed at Karoor,
04:02unfortunately, to highlight that particular incident, which he called as a kind of a conspiracy.
04:07The important aspect which I want to highlight is that, like, even on that particular day,
04:11the left parties, be it CPI and CPM, very clearly said that before handing out such orders,
04:15the Tamil Nadu government should go ahead and form a kind of a guide,
04:18some kind of guidelines to make sure that the orders remain valid.
04:21But unfortunately, just like they actually that time went ahead and informed or kind of, like, you know,
04:25warned the TVK government that the certain parties went to the Madrasaikot Madri page.
04:30And now the court has very clearly stated that, like, if this is a way to go forward,
04:34then jobs will also have to be, probably will have to be handed over to road victims,
04:38road accidents with some victims inside government buses.
04:40And what about those kind of accidents that happen in Sivakasi, Cracker Fire Factory, often and all.
04:45So, considering this, the court has went ahead and set aside this on the government jobs order.
04:50Very clearly, TVK is now depending on the Supreme Court right now, Vakshita.
04:53Okay. Thanks, Pramod, for joining us with those details.
04:56So, the legal battle essentially will continue now from the Madrasaikot to the Supreme Court.
05:00The Madrasaikot said that with the investigation underway,
05:03you cannot give these government jobs to the victims of the stampede.
05:06Again, the TVK government, we are hearing from our sources, will be challenging this order in the Supreme Court.
05:20But let's get you all the latest updates coming in from Parliament today.
05:24Another washout, zero business, zero session that took place.
05:28No discussions, no debate.
05:29But it looks like the deadlock has ended.
05:32The anti-paper-league bill that was brought in by the government,
05:36it was introduced, tabled in the House today.
05:38But beyond that, nothing much could happen.
05:41No discussion could take place.
05:42Now, we understand that the opposition is on board.
05:45And tomorrow, we are going to see a discussion as well as voting on the bill in the Lok Sabha
05:50tomorrow.
05:51This comes after Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla had intervened,
05:55urged for consensus for a debate,
05:56had a conversation, a dialogue with the opposition.
05:59And so, finally, a breakthrough has been achieved.
06:02Otherwise, today, once again, it was only chaos and ruckus,
06:07with zero business taking place in either the Lok Sabha or Rajya Sabha.
06:11The opposition continues to demand that Home Minister Amit Shira issue a statement in Parliament
06:15over what played out on July 20th.
06:18And the clashes that broke out, saying that all kinds of atrocities were committed on students,
06:22they want a detailed statement from the Home Minister.
06:25The government, however, says that, look, Dharmendra Pradhan has resigned.
06:29We are bringing a bill that will reform examinations,
06:32that will reform education in this country,
06:34stop playing with the future of the youth.
06:36Listen in to Kiran Rajiju.
06:55Don't you, don't you, don't you, don't you, don't you?
07:00But we are planning toBefore president and not Texas.
07:05We are going to know what to be called on this bill and make an event.
07:05So, one way, there's an event of so many something,
07:08that you will understand through the process of this bill,
07:12so why do these bills leave it to the church?
07:16I've got an idea.
07:45Okay, so you heard that
07:47Kiran Rajiju, he's in fact spoken in both houses
07:49the Lok Sabha and the Rajasabha
07:51urging for the opposition to come on board
07:53for a discussion, it didn't really cut any
07:55eyes, but Aishwarya Paliwal is joining us live
07:57with more details on this, Aishwarya
07:59what did it take finally for the opposition
08:01to come on board, because there were repeated
08:03attempts made while the house was
08:05in session in both Lok Sabha and
08:07Rajasabha, largely by Kiran Rajiju
08:09none of it worked
08:12Well, you know what actually
08:13ended the deadlock, Akshita, was
08:15the Speaker of Mila, because he in fact
08:17what he did was that he called each
08:19and every opposition party, had a
08:21conversation with them and even explained it
08:23to them, that yes, there are certain questions
08:25that you want to ask and what better place than
08:27the floor of the house, so this is why
08:29we are now seeing the opposition party
08:31saying that they are willing to speak about it
08:33but let me tell you, it will not be smooth
08:35because the opposition party, Akshita, will
08:37begin by asking Home Minister Amit Shah
08:39certain questions, the opposition parties
08:41are now saying, and this is where we understand
08:43that they have indeed changed their own goalpost
08:45the earlier goalpost, Akshita, was
08:47the resignation of the education minister
08:49something that has already happened, they are now
08:51saying that yes, there were pellets that were
08:53being shot at students, who gave
08:55that order, there were students who were
08:57being beaten up, who gave that order
08:59these are specific questions that are now being asked
09:01specifically by the main opposition
09:03party, that is the Congress party and they
09:05want the government to give these answers
09:07specifically Home Minister Amit Shah to give these answers
09:09whether we will see Home Minister Amit Shah
09:11responding to the opposition or not, we'll have
09:13to wait and watch, but yes, for now
09:15the deadlock has ended and tomorrow
09:16we will see a detailed discussion
09:18on this new bell, Akshita
09:21The BJP is going to put forth
09:23a number of very young faces
09:24to essentially lead the debate
09:26on their behalf in Parliament
09:28because the messaging they want to send across
09:30is, look, this is to do with the Gen Z
09:32this is to do with the youth
09:33and so we want our young leaders
09:35our young MPs to really lead the fight
09:38Rahul Gautam is also live with us
09:40giving us a sense of really what the Congress' strategy is
09:43in the face of all that's been happening
09:44Rahul, finally
09:46we're seeing consensus
09:48a breakthrough of sorts
09:49and tomorrow there's going to be a discussion
09:50the Congress, we understand
09:52has agreed right now to discussion
09:54have they put forth any terms and conditions for that?
09:58we all know that how Congress has recalibrated
10:02its entire strategy
10:03earlier the target was Darmindra Pradhan
10:06we all know that how he has already
10:09been replaced
10:10and now
10:11the target is
10:13Union Minister Hamid Shah
10:15Congress is saying that Hamid Shah
10:17should come to the
10:19Parliament and should put out a statement
10:21what really
10:22led to violence on Monday
10:24against students
10:25who really authorised
10:26as they claim it
10:28a lethal force
10:29against our students
10:30and also
10:31who was the one
10:33who asked
10:34to authorise
10:35Okay, we're having a bit of a problem
10:36with your connection Rahul
10:37but thanks very much
10:38for those details
10:48And joining us on this broadcast
10:50is Karthi Chidambra
10:51Member of Parliament
10:52in the Lok Sabha
10:52for the Congress
10:53Karthi, thank you very much
10:55for your time
10:56we've been seeing
10:56what's been playing out
10:57in the last many days
10:58in Parliament
10:59the question that's
11:01constantly being asked
11:02is over the weekend
11:03Darmindra Pradhan
11:03has resigned
11:04the government clearly
11:05has taken accountability
11:06for what's happened
11:07there's been a whole lot of talk
11:08about reform
11:09including a bill
11:11being brought in
11:11in Parliament
11:12why then is the opposition
11:14the Congress
11:14not allowing this discussion
11:16this debate to happen
11:21See, there are many issues
11:23which the Congress
11:24and other parties
11:25want to raise
11:26in fact
11:26they had a meeting
11:27of all the
11:28floor leaders
11:30after 2 o'clock today
11:31and obviously
11:33they have not come
11:33to some sort of
11:34an understanding
11:35the Congress
11:36obviously
11:36we want to raise
11:37the issue of
11:38police firing
11:40using AK-47
11:41pellets
11:42on people
11:43who are protesting
11:44against the paper leak
11:45the Samajwadi Party
11:47has got other issues
11:48to raise
11:48the DMK
11:49is raising other issues
11:50it's really
11:50incumbent upon the government
11:52to create the environment
11:53where opposition parties
11:55are allowed to
11:56have their say
11:57the government
11:57has the numbers
11:58they can always
11:59vote us out
11:59why are they so insecure
12:01this has been
12:02the consistent pattern
12:03of this government
12:04in my seven years
12:05in parliament
12:06where they refuse
12:07to allow
12:08opposition members
12:09to raise issues
12:10which the opposition
12:11believes
12:11is important
12:12at that point
12:13of time
12:13not one
12:14adjournment motion
12:15not one adjournment motion
12:17has ever been
12:18allowed by this speaker
12:20in the last seven years
12:21the government says
12:23that the opposition
12:24is shifting gold ports
12:25Kaati Chidambra
12:25and that last week
12:26the demand was different
12:27that Dharmendra Pradham
12:28must resign
12:28now that that's done
12:30there's a different demand
12:31that's been brought
12:31onto the table
12:32and so in such a circumstance
12:33it's quite impossible
12:34to have any sort of dialogue
12:36or middle ground
12:37or discussion
12:41see they've brought in a bill
12:42we're happy to discuss
12:43the bill
12:44and you know
12:44we can
12:45we can discuss
12:45about the passage
12:46of the bill
12:47that didn't happen
12:48though today
12:48we saw only disruptions today
12:50that is why
12:50there is an
12:52hear me out
12:53yes
12:53that's because
12:54the government
12:55refused to talk
12:55about the police firing
12:57that's because
12:58the government
12:58refuses
12:59the government
12:59is being obtuse
13:00why is the government
13:01always
13:02always refusing
13:04to discuss
13:05any adjournment motion
13:06we bring
13:06we bring up
13:07have you ever
13:08asked that question
13:09why have you ever
13:09asked the speaker
13:10and why
13:11maybe you should
13:11invite him
13:12for an interview
13:13and ask him
13:14how many adjournment motions
13:15he's
13:15he's allowed
13:16in his
13:16seven years
13:17in the chair
13:21no but i i have to
13:22you know
13:23the ultimately
13:24and sure
13:24we will put forth
13:25that question
13:26to the speaker
13:26but if you ask
13:27the government
13:27kathi
13:28what's played out
13:29they say
13:30we're open to a debate
13:31good luck to you
13:32we're open to a debate
13:33on neat
13:34they say
13:34they say
13:35we've
13:35so are we
13:36we've said
13:36we've said
13:37very openly
13:37in the house
13:38that we're open
13:38to a debate
13:39and yet the opposition
13:40continued their protests
13:41we said
13:41we want to bring in
13:42a bill
13:42that will help
13:43the youth
13:44of this country
13:44but the protests
13:45continued
13:45in parliament
13:46you're now raising
13:47the issue
13:47of what happened
13:48on july 20th
13:49but last week
13:49the issue
13:50was quite different
13:51i mean
13:52let's
13:54but other events
13:56have overtaken it
13:57there has been
13:57a police firing
13:58in bihar
14:07there is no reform
14:25there is no reform
14:27this bill
14:28this bill
14:28this bill is not
14:28reforming anything
14:29all this bill
14:30is doing
14:30if you
14:31i mean
14:31i don't know
14:31whether you've
14:32taken the time
14:33out to read it
14:33i have read it
14:34all it does
14:35is make the punishment
14:36far more stringent
14:37it does not
14:38in any way
14:39any way
14:40improve
14:41improve the supply
14:42chain of
14:42of preparation
14:43of question papers
14:44and issuing it
14:45on the day
14:46on the day
14:46of exams
14:46this is after
14:48a leak happens
14:48after an investigation
14:50when people
14:51are accused
14:51of leaking it
14:52the penalties
14:53and the
14:54and the imprisonment
14:55is greater
14:56then they have
14:56again come back
14:57to the old
14:58tried and tested
14:58formula of fast track
14:59courts
15:00if you do
15:00even basic research
15:01about fast track
15:02courts
15:03you will realize
15:04that there are
15:04a plethora
15:05of fast track
15:06courts
15:06which have
15:07lacks of cases
15:08still pending
15:08so anyway
15:09let's not talk
15:10this as reform
15:10this is just
15:11making punishment
15:12lot more stringent
15:13but of course
15:14the application
15:14of the law
15:15afterwards
15:15has to be seen
15:17but the whole thing
15:17is this is not
15:18reform
15:19reform is
15:19reforming the
15:20examination process
15:21the examination
15:22leaked
15:23the neat exam
15:24leaked in 2024
15:25and there was
15:26a committee
15:26formed under
15:28the chairmanship
15:29of mr.
15:29Radha Krishnan
15:30nobody knows
15:30about that report
15:31I am sure
15:32your channel
15:32did not report
15:33about that
15:34184 page report
15:35did the government
15:36implement the report
15:37what did the report
15:38say
15:38why
15:39what is the report
15:40why did you
15:41hold the government
15:42accountable for not
15:43implementing the report
15:44no we did
15:44in fact in the light
15:45of what happened
15:46just a couple of
15:47months ago
15:47the paper leak
15:48we highlighted
15:48the 2024 report
15:53but nothing
15:53has been done
15:54you have not
15:54formed another
15:55committee
15:55you have not
15:56even implemented
15:56that report
15:57you have formed
15:57another committee
15:58which will take
15:59a long time
15:59so no reform
16:00has happened
16:01so don't give
16:01credit or reform
16:02to this government
16:03all they have done
16:04is brought a bill
16:05which will make
16:06the punishment
16:06a lot more stringent
16:07and setting up
16:08special courts
16:09but special courts
16:10itself is not
16:10the answer
16:11yes we will
16:12debate the bill
16:12when there is
16:14an agreement
16:15about the issues
16:16we want to raise
16:17and the bill
16:17is brought up
16:18but we will
16:18discuss the bill
16:19but let's not
16:20minimize or
16:21diminish the
16:22issues we raise
16:22we raising
16:23very pertinent
16:24issues about
16:25only a brutal
16:26state
16:27only a state
16:28which is so
16:29insecure
16:29from its own
16:30people
16:31from its own
16:32young people
16:32when they are
16:33raising issues
16:33will use such
16:34brute force
16:35okay if this
16:36was not an
16:36order from
16:36the government
16:37simple
16:37the home
16:38minister could
16:39have completely
16:39come and said
16:40that was a
16:41loose cannon
16:42cop who did
16:43it there was
16:43no chain of
16:44command which
16:45ordered this
16:46and we have
16:46taken disciplinary
16:47action and we
16:48will ensure it's
16:49not happening
16:49again a simple
16:50statement would
16:50have settled
16:51the issue
16:51why does the
16:52why does the
16:52government be
16:53so obtuse that
16:54it refused to
16:55issue a simple
16:55statement on the
16:56floor of the
16:57house why does
16:57it need anchors
16:59like you you to
17:00come and argue
17:00their case to
17:01mps like me
17:02i'm not arguing
17:03their case
17:03kati but i will
17:04say this you
17:05know i heard
17:05about from you
17:06about the
17:07reform
17:07about fast track
17:08hold one second
17:09kati i haven't
17:10heard any of this
17:11in parliament i
17:11would have loved
17:12to have a
17:13discussion a
17:13debate a
17:14dialogue on
17:14this where the
17:15opposition came
17:16out and said
17:16what they think
17:17what they think
17:18about the
17:19legislation what
17:19they think
17:20about the
17:20bill what
17:20they think
17:21needs to be
17:21the change
17:22brought on
17:22ground if
17:23this had
17:23happened in
17:23parliament
17:24i'd have
17:24got five
17:25more opinions
17:25besides yours
17:26which is great
17:27which is what
17:27we need a
17:28healthy
17:28discussion
17:30but we
17:31will yes
17:33but but but
17:34you're you're
17:34you're you're
17:35you're completely
17:35brushing under
17:36the carpet
17:37the issue of
17:38police firing
17:39using very
17:40lethal weapons
17:41do you justify
17:42using ak-47
17:44rifles against
17:45student protesters
17:46do you don't
17:47you don't you
17:47think that that's
17:48a pertinent point
17:49that we were
17:50raising all we
17:51wanted was the
17:51home minister to
17:52come and say i
17:52i'm not even
17:53accusing the
17:54government of
17:54ordering that
17:55firing i i
17:55i understand
17:56how security
17:58forces operate
17:59you could have
17:59simply said that
18:00he was unauthorized
18:01to use it
18:01there was no
18:02authorization
18:03he was a lone
18:04ranger who did
18:04it we have
18:05taken disciplinary
18:06action or
18:06departmental action
18:07against him
18:08we have suspended
18:08him and we'll
18:09ensure this is
18:10not happening
18:10what what prevents
18:12the government
18:12from doing this
18:12a simple gesture
18:14like that
18:14which should have
18:15not taken more
18:15than three minutes
18:16to choose it
18:17100 percent
18:18100 percent
18:19sure there should
18:19be a statement
18:20on this but
18:20the very first
18:2110 seconds
18:22the first 10
18:23seconds of the
18:23house being in
18:24session is disrupted
18:25there are mps in
18:26the well of the
18:27house how can it
18:28function in such a
18:29circumstance
18:29all all all we
18:31wanted was this
18:32no the point is
18:34that the adjournment
18:35motion could have
18:35been admitted the
18:36speaker in all his
18:37magnanimity could
18:38have admitted this
18:39adjournment motion
18:40call the home
18:41minister to issue a
18:42statement matter
18:43would have reached
18:43the quietest but
18:44it didn't this the
18:46honorable speaker has
18:47not admitted one
18:48adjournment motion
18:49in the seven years
18:50i've been in
18:51parliament
18:52okay i hope i hope
18:54that tomorrow we
18:55will see all your
18:56demands met and
18:57hopefully there will
18:58be some discussion
18:59dialogue that
18:59happens because
19:00you know it's
19:01unfortunate
19:01i hope i hope
19:02i hope i
19:04yeah
19:06i hope you will
19:07invite the speaker
19:07and ask him about
19:08his track record of
19:09adjournment motions
19:10look i can invite him
19:11karty i cannot
19:12assure that like you
19:13he would be willing
19:14to join us but
19:15thank you very much
19:16for joining us here
19:18i'm a good sport
19:19i'm a good sport
19:20who comes in i'm a
19:21good i'm a good
19:22sport who comes to
19:23your channel and
19:24answers questions but
19:24why not the speaker
19:25i agree thank you for
19:26that i agree that we
19:27should actually have
19:28the opportunity to
19:29put those questions
19:30across and we
19:31appreciate that you
19:32do join us thank you
19:32for joining us here on
19:34india today let's see
19:34if tomorrow we will
19:36finally see movement
19:38in parliament what
19:39we're hearing is that
19:40the deadlock has been
19:41broken there's been a
19:42breakthrough and that
19:43there's a conversation
19:44that's happened between
19:45the speaker and the
19:46opposition but let me
19:48move on to also what's
19:50been happening across
19:50the country as a
19:52result of the cjp
19:53protest in delhi you've
19:55seen that one big
19:56resignation of course
19:57of dharmendra pradhan
19:58and since then the
19:59political fire has only

22:33But the BJP, Congress and Akali Dal are unconvinced, demanding the resignation of Punjab's Education
22:39Minister.
23:06The people in Punjab have been asked for this government.
23:16Adding another political twist, the BJP has also questioned CJP founder Abhijit Dipke
23:23asking why he isn't demanding resignations in Punjab.
23:47Dipke, who has been associated with Aamadmi Party in the past, says that Punjab is on
23:52CJP's radar and that the organization is planning its next course of action.
24:09One resignation at the centre has reset the political benchmark.
24:13The big question now, will the demand for accountability stop in Delhi or reach Punjab
24:18too?
24:19With Kamaljeet Sandhu and Aman Bhardwaj in Chandigarh, Bureau Report, India Today.
24:28It's been 54 days since D.K. Shiv Kumar took oath as the Chief Minister of Karnataka and
24:34guess what?
24:34There are even now 20 plus portfolios that remain unallocated.
24:39As the Congress dithers, delays, prioritizes everything but a cabinet expansion of Karnataka,
24:44some of the biggest portfolios remain faceless and therefore nothing moves on these portfolios
24:51in the last 54 days.
24:53I'll list out some of them for you.
24:54Urban development, for example, most important for cities of Karnataka like Bengaluru, no
25:00minister.
25:01Agriculture.
25:01At a time in Karnataka, one of the worst droughts and farmers are suffering, there's no face,
25:07there's no minister.
25:08Primary education, higher education, housing, even portfolios like women and child development
25:15and minority welfare remain unallocated.
25:17So amid all the politics and power games, guess what's the number one casualty?
25:22As always, it's governance.
25:24And unfortunately, this is the accepted norm in Karnataka.
25:28Yedirappa ran a one-man government for 25 days in 2019.
25:31And now, 54 days and counting, we're waiting.
25:35D.K. Shiv Kumar makes another trip to Delhi, waits for some finality from the party high command.
25:40If it doesn't happen, well, Karnataka, too bad.
25:44Just keep waiting.
25:55If you thought the Karnataka ended with D.K. Shiv Kumar taking oath as chief minister, think
26:01again.
26:04It's been almost two months since the state got a new CM.
26:07Yet, of the 34 cabinet words, only 13 have been filled so far.
26:12That leaves 21 ministerial posts vacant ahead of the proposed cabinet expansion.
26:19All departments not specifically assigned to ministers continue to remain with the chief
26:23minister.
26:23This includes key portfolios such as agriculture, primary and health education, social welfare
26:29and women and child development that are yet to be allotted.
26:32Chief Minister D.K. Shiv Kumar is now on his third trip to Delhi to finalize his cabinet
26:37with the party high command.
26:38We have to inform our MPs for the first time after I became chief minister, I have called
26:43them.
26:44I have to apprise a lot of issues to them.
26:45They are very important.
26:47After that, I will call an all-party meeting here or so.
26:50There are various senior leaders to be addressed.
26:52As soon as I come back, I will meet them or so.
26:55I will meet the opposition leader, the former chief ministers and all.
26:58Senior congress leaders are expecting several new faces to be inducted into the cabinet.
27:03It's the prerogative of the chief minister and majority of the MLAs and the workers feel
27:10that there is a few new faces should come in.
27:13And let us see what high command does.
27:16But with the ongoing need conflict, the cabinet expansion has been delayed with every passing
27:21day.
27:22Many say that it might be a mix of experience and new faces in this cabinet.
27:28The larger question would be, it's not about the cabinet, but who makes the cut and who
27:34misses out.
27:35With you, Dr. Shumurthy, Sakairaj, reporting for India Today, Bengaluru.
27:38Is Tamil Nadu all set to see another star rise?
27:42We've seen the huge historic success of Chief Minister Vijay.
27:48Has another actor been inspired by that and decided to jump into the political bandwagon?
27:53I'm referring to actor Dhanush.
27:55On his birthday at a blood donation camp, he dropped hint after hint, clue after clue, that
28:01suggests that he's getting set for a new role as a politician.
28:05Maybe inspired by Vijay or not, several questions during the rounds about whether the timing
28:11is right.
28:12Will he taste political success?
28:14What really does Dhanush bring to the game?
28:16What's his ideology?
28:18Is he going to be joining another party, launching his own?
28:20The only indication we have so far is that a week ago, his fan club also launched their
28:26own flag, a symbol of sorts.
28:29Is there room in Tamil Nadu for another actor turned politician?
28:34He's no Vijay, so can he really have any political success?
28:38We'll decode all of that for you, but first details in this report.
28:52Tamil Nadu's culture of actor worship is unlike anywhere else in the country.
29:01But as film stars increasingly make the shift to politics, fan devotion has become even more
29:08intense.
29:14Ever since C. Joseph Vijay became Tamil Nadu's chief minister, speculation has grown over who
29:21could be the next actor to enter politics.
29:28One name now making headlines is actor-director Dhanush.
29:36Dhanush has once again fueled speculation about a possible political debut after urging his fans
29:43to channel their unity into public service.
30:09Dhanush.
30:11Dhanush.
30:14Dhanush.
30:15Dhanush.
30:15Dhanush.
30:16Dhanush.
30:17Dhanush.
30:29Dhanush.
30:42Dhanush.
30:43Dhanush.
30:46Dhanush.
30:48Dhanush.
30:51Dhanush.
30:52Dhanush.
30:55Dhanush.
31:01Dhanush.
31:11Dhanush.
31:13Stalin is no longer in office.
31:15His son Udayanidi Stalin, who himself is a former actor, has taken over as the leader
31:20of the opposition.
31:23Tamil Nadu has witnessed several actors flirt with politics.
31:27Dhanush's former father-in-law, Rajnikanth, also attempted a political entry, but failed
31:33to make a lasting impact.
31:35After all, not everyone can replicate the political success of MGR, or more recently
31:42C.
31:43Joseph Vijay.
31:44Until Dhanush breaks his silence, Tamil Nadu's political circles will keep humming the same
31:50tune.
31:51Why this color very day?
31:53EuroReport, India Today.
31:58What explains the timing of this kind of an indication and if Dhanush chooses to enter politics, why
32:04has he chosen to do it now?
32:06And is there really space for another actor entering politics in Tamil Nadu?
32:12There have been many who have tasted success, tasted political success, but it's all about
32:17every factor coming in together, including timing.
32:20Pramod Madhav is joining us live with more details on this.
32:23Pramod, what are your sources telling you?
32:26Is this something that Dhanush actually could be doing entering politics?
32:29What was with all the indications he gave?
32:32Well, quite a lot of indications are there currently as we speak right now, Akshita, in
32:36this particular matter.
32:37In fact, very interestingly, we saw the speech yesterday.
32:39This is about a kind of victory for him getting the national award.
32:42But he very clearly said that he was supposed to get national awards.
32:45It was estimated that he would get it for Pudupete.
32:48He got it for three.
32:49He got it for Asuran and such, but that did not happen.
32:51So, he highlighted that.
32:52But the important aspect is that he also started saying that unless you win, until you
32:56win, you have to keep fighting.
32:58And that actually, he quoted a line from actor Ajit.
33:00He's calling him as Tala.
33:02So, this is where, like, you know, a light of kind of speculations have now begun.
33:06Wondering if Dhanush is actually bringing all his fans together, asking them to kind of,
33:10you know, go ahead and work for the people in the same way how Vijay Makalaya communicated
33:14earlier.
33:14And also, Akshita, now they have a kind of a flag as well with a star, a red and white
33:19band
33:20and a star with Dhanush's image in between.
33:22So, these were, these are all only concerned right now as a speculation if Dhanush was ready
33:26to test the political waters in the state of Tamil Nadu.
33:29Really, if he is kind of getting a sense of what would be the reaction, if he was indicating
33:35he was going to enter politics, and if that's something that he'll now follow up through.
33:40Remember, he's someone now who's a national award winner.
33:43And so, he spoke on that controversy, but the biggest headline, no doubt, has been the
33:47fact that there is a possibility that Dhanush too could enter the political fray in Tamil Nadu.
33:52And we've been seeing this, a lot of actors inspired by what Vijay has managed to achieve.
33:57Also looking at entering politics.
34:00Most of them though, have chosen more or less to back Vijay to join the TVK.
34:05What will Dhanush choose to do?
34:07Will he join an existing political party?
34:09Will he start his own outfit?
34:11Again, all of this comes to the caveat that he actually goes ahead and enters politics.
34:15Nandakumar political analyst, Dr. Sumansi Raman political analyst with us on this broadcast.
34:20Mr. Nandakumar, to you first, good evening.
34:21What do you make, sir, of the indications made by Dhanush?
34:25First of all, do you think he's going to enter politics?
34:29Actually, there is a great distinction between the speculation and reality.
34:33Because whenever a kind of a senior actor comes on the screen and he talks about the unity,
34:39solidarity, strength and going for welfare measures, everybody speculates around whether
34:44this is another actor coming into the political arena.
34:48So, I see that this is a speculation unless and otherwise he announces on his own like
34:54how Mr. Vijay has announced his political entry.
34:57And of course, tomorrow is his birthday.
34:59I wish him all the very best in his coming years.
35:03And also, if he intend to enter into politics, always in a country, a big democracy like India,
35:11always there is a scope for everyone.
35:13And Vijay has become a role model for everyone to enter into politics with great confidence.
35:19No, but Mr. Nandakumar, I'll tell you why there's all of this talk about whether he's entering politics.
35:24A week ago, you had his fan club launching his flag.
35:28That itself leads to questions about whether he's kind of setting the base for a political party.
35:32Even with Vijay, in the first few instances, there were outright denials.
35:36It was all mere speculation.
35:37Everyone said no way he's going to enter politics.
35:39Where here you see Dhanush not just having this fan club that now has its own identity,
35:44but also making a speech that was very, very politically leaning in the sense of messaging server,
35:50of unity, of being a force that drives change, urging his fan clubs to work together,
35:55and also the body language.
35:57You know, usually Dhanush is not someone who speaks in such an animated manner.
36:01And I think that got everyone talking, that he's projecting himself a certain way.
36:06As you rightly said, this is the first time I too watched him speaking with notes in his hand.
36:11So, it was a very bad speech and he was referring to his document, what was the dialogue written, all
36:16these things.
36:17But having said that, though it is a speculation, we cannot rule out everything.
36:21Even if you take his father-in-law, ex-father-in-law, Mr. Grajinika,
36:25even he also floated a flag for his own fan club.
36:29And later he wanted to come into politics.
36:32He announced the date of entering the politics, actually announced,
36:35and then due to the circumstances of Corona and his physical condition,
36:42he backed up from the politics.
36:45So, though we cannot rule out anybody entering into politics,
36:49it is his own wish and will.
36:51And even he has given a good caption also for his fans club,
36:57that Yenampol Valkai, your life is just all about your thoughts.
37:01It is only dependent on only the quality of your thoughts will be the quality of your life.
37:07So, that's a, normally even my mother used to say that saying all the time at home, Yenampol Valkai.
37:14So, these are all good things.
37:15And as I said, everybody is seeing Mr. Vijay as a successful model in,
37:24not only in Tamil Nadu politics, but also in Indian politics,
37:29because earlier it was Amar B party, but now Vijay has become that role model.
37:34So, everybody wants to become like Vijay.
37:39We cannot stop anyone's ambition, right?
37:41No, that's true. And if he joins, all the very best to him.
37:46The only question I will ask Mr. Nandakumar is, if he were to enter politics,
37:49do you think it's the right time?
37:51And the reason I ask this is, you already have someone wildly successful as an actor.
37:55Many would say much bigger than a Dhanush in Tamil cinema, who is now the Chief Minister.
38:00That void of change has already been filled.
38:03So, do you think this is the right time, if he chooses to enter?
38:06No, this is not the right time exactly, to be precise.
38:09As you rightly said, now the bus has got moved to, that is in the Vijay shed.
38:16The bus is already parked there.
38:18So, just now, Tamil Nadu has taken a greatest democratic experiment,
38:24and we have voted for Vijay to come in power,
38:28defusing both the tall Dravidian parties.
38:32So, he has already missed the bus, unless and otherwise his political ambition is a very long-term innings,
38:39if he wanted to play, because tomorrow he is going to complete his 43rd birthday, I believe.
38:45So, if he could able to, because politics is such a long, sustained journey,
38:50and as Mr. Vijay was also talking before the election,
38:54that is a once in 50 years event, which has happened just now.
38:59Okay.
38:59So, it is not every election we cannot see these kind of dramatic changes in any state politics.
39:06Once in a while, this kind of dramatic change happens.
39:08That's great.
39:08Already this has happened, and so for another dramatic change,
39:12we need to wait for a long time to happen,
39:15and till that time, if at all, Dhanush wants to enter into politics,
39:19he has to be a sustained player, and he has to be politically, ideologically,
39:23he has to be very clear.
39:25He's got some time.
39:25If he chooses to, he's got some time for the election,
39:27so we'll have to see how he bases himself.
39:30Mr. Nandakumar, thank you for joining us.
39:31Mr. Subhansi Raman has just joined us on this broadcast.
39:34Mr. Subhansi Raman, you know, at this point, I agree that it's all speculation.
39:38We don't do just yet if he's entering politics,
39:41but if Dhanush chooses to enter Mr. Subhansi Raman,
39:44do you see him having a Vijay-like impact in Tamil Nadu politics?
39:48Not at all.
39:49Not at all, Akshita.
39:50First of all, he's not as big a star as Vijay.
39:52I agree.
39:52Okay, so let's be very clear on that.
39:55Second, I think that lightning strikes once every 30 or 40 years,
39:59not, you know, so frequently.
40:01After MGR, lightning has struck now.
40:04And MGR too had to work very, very hard for many, many years
40:07before he made it big in politics.
40:10So I don't think that there is no vacancy now.
40:14I'm sorry, that is the bottom line is there is no vacancy.
40:18No, Sudham, why do you think he's doing it?
40:20Why do you think he's doing it?
40:21I'm sure he recognizes that there's been a historic change.
40:25Akshita, if you recall, ever since this whole thing sort of Vijay's success happened,
40:32Mr. Rajinikanth has not been very enthusiastic about it.
40:35Then he had to give a statement clarifying why he didn't wish or did wish.
40:39Yeah.
40:39So Dhanush happens to be part of that family in some ways, you know.
40:45So therefore, I don't know, maybe Mr. Rajinikanth's wife started a movement after Vijay's success.
40:54So we don't know what the actual game is, but clearly there is no vacancy.
40:59I don't think it will have an iota of an impact.
41:02And quite honestly, he's not, you know, he's not even half as big a star as Vijay.
41:06He doesn't have that kind of fan base, that appeal or that, you know, mass image that Vijay had.
41:13So there's no question of him being a Vijay.
41:16In politics, never say never, but it will be a tough, long road if he chooses to go down that
41:22particular track of entering politics.
41:24Mr. Sumansi Raman, unfortunately, that's all the time I have on this particular story.
41:29But we'll track and see what reactions come in.
41:32It's Dhanush's birthday.
41:34And so at that point, maybe there'll be a statement or two that comes in from the actor clearing the
41:38air on the statements that he's made,
41:40whether he's actually intending to enter politics or not.
41:43But speaking of actors turned politicians, remember that Vijay's last film, Jananayagan, released last week.
41:49And since then, you've been seeing all of the viral videos, I'm sure, of the celebrations in theatres.
41:54It did get mixed reviews, but many have been talking about the experience alone of watching Vijay's last film in
42:01a theatre.
42:02And therefore, it continues its dream run in theatres, drawing packed houses while making a strong mark globally.
42:09Jananayagan has crossed the 200 mark in its first weekend.
42:24One last roar, and the box office is listening.
42:37Vijay has already begun a new chapter in politics, but Jananayagan is ensuring his farewell from cinema remains unforgettable.
42:46Despite opening to mixed reviews, the political action drama has refused to lose steam at the box office.
42:57Instead, it has done exactly what Vijay films are known for, drawing massive crowds to theatres.
43:07The film has already raced past the 200 crore mark worldwide, grossing an impressive 217.48 crore rupees.
43:19Interestingly, Jananayagan has also debuted at number 7 on the worldwide box office chart,
43:24registering an opening weekend gross of $21.82 million, underlining Vijay's formidable global pull.
43:39Back home, the political action thriller opened to an impressive 42.7 crore rupees net on its first day.
43:46While collections dipped to 21.15 crore net on day 2, the film bounced back with a strong 28.50
43:54crore net on day 3,
43:55helping it cross the 100 crore net milestone in India within just three days.
44:16The film also rewrote the record books overseas, shattering the previous UK opening day pre-sales benchmarks set by Vijay's
44:25own blockbuster, Leo.
44:37In fact, Jananayagan also completed a remarkable hat-trick of crossing the $1 million pre-sales mark on online booking
44:44platforms,
44:44making Vijay the first Indian actor to achieve the milestone with three consecutive films.
44:51Varus,
44:57Goat,

45:10And now, Jananayagan.
