00:00This beautiful lab Lacey was described as morbidly obese and was having a hard time getting adopted.
00:05Lacey spent her life as a puppy mill mom and when she ruptured her uterus and was no longer able
00:11to
00:11have babies, her breeder gave her up. But thankfully, the perfect person came across her pet finder
00:17profile and everything changed. I just saw her really sad look in her eyes. Some people don't
00:24want to get overweight dogs. When I first got her, she was about a little over 100 pounds.
00:30A very sweet, loving couch potato. Had a couple unique challenges trying to get her to exercise.
00:40You would just kind of give up and sit down and be stubborn. Me having to carry my 100 pound
00:46dog a little ways. Jack was determined to get Lacey healthy and show her a good life and she had
00:53already won him over so there was no going back. The first 20 pounds went pretty quickly within the
00:59first year and a half. She definitely was moving a lot more, living a happy, healthy life. She really
01:10wants to hang out with people. Getting her from like 80 pounds to like 60, 65 that she's at now
01:17that
01:17took a little bit longer. She is a beggar. Reflecting on, you know, to help her through her
01:24journey was definitely really rewarding. She was still like 100 pounds, probably wouldn't, you know,
01:30made it like as many years. Watching Jack put so much love, time, and patience into getting Lacey
01:37healthy again has been so inspiring. This story is such a good reminder that rescue dogs aren't looking
01:42for perfect people. They just need someone willing to believe in them.
