00:00The key is you don't want to go too deep down where the blood vessels live because then you'll cause
00:06a lot of trauma.
00:07So when you do it correctly, you know, just taking the needle, pressing through the outer layer of skin, creates
00:14like a microneedling effect.
00:18My name is Inez. I'm 43 years old. I suffer from different health problems. One of them was hypothyroidism.
00:24Your thyroids don't work well and it throws off the balance of your hormones.
00:30And causes you to lose hair. I lost a good portion of my hair.
00:34I had a little bald patch. It took several years to kind of fill in.
00:38I've been seeing Dr. Yates for the last four years for PRP treatments.
00:43And as you can see, my bald patch not only filled in, but my hair is looking really long and
00:48healthy right now.
00:49Sometimes when I wear my hair off to one side, you can, you can definitely see my scalp.
00:55So the micropigmentation should minimize that contrast and give the appearance of a fuller, healthier scalp and hair.
01:04Mrs. Melinda, how you doing?
01:05Hey.
01:06Good, good seeing you.
01:07Looking at the pictures, your hair now looks so much better.
01:11Could you stop here and say, hey, I'm done? Yes.
01:14But why do that when we can make it even better?
01:17Lyda is the lead here with micropigmentation.
01:21So tell Ms. Melinda a little bit about what we're going to do.
01:23So we will be adding pigmentation around the corners here and then transitioning into the center of your hair
01:31so that the pigment doesn't look heavily concentrated.
01:34We're going to have it so that your hair just appears fuller and more dense.
01:39Well, I was a little nervous about the needles being involved and was just curious on a scale of 1
01:46to 10 what I could expect my pain levels to be.
01:49The majority of people usually are on the 1 to maybe 3.
01:54It would be described as a discomfort.
01:56Great. No, I'm really excited to get started.
01:58All right, let's do it.
02:01Upon seeing a patient, typically in the consultation, we'll determine the area that we want to work in.
02:08Once the patient is in the chair ready to begin, I'll clean the area with an antiseptic for the skin.
02:14And this is what we fill with the pigment so that the cup can be placed on my finger.
02:19I go ahead and I proceed with just doing a little test areas to make sure that the patient knows
02:25what to expect
02:25and anticipating the right amount of discomfort or any experience that they may be having.
02:30Then after we do a few tester areas, I proceed with going ahead and doing the procedure.
02:38And then always coming back through, cleaning the area thoroughly.
02:43Everything's done under magnification.
02:45I have different strengths of magnification that are necessary and I determine that based on the individual.
02:52The needles here are spring-based. They're not going to allow me to penetrate so far.
02:57Whereas with a tattoo, they're really working that skin and they're working it and they're stretching it
03:01and they're wiping really hard. With this, I'm just finely placing the pigment, just placing it there
03:08and wanting it to get absorbed over the next three or four days.
03:12We use medical grade pigment and basically the concept with that is that the molecules
03:18are much smaller so that they will maintain the longevity. Tattoos sometimes do not stay true to
03:24color and when you're working with the scalp itself, the skin is very oxygenated. There's a lot of
03:30oxygenation in the scalp so you have to take that into account that that pigment can change its hue and
03:35you have to be able to counteract that and you have to be able to know how to do that.
03:40And initially, I want you to just look from the distance here. See that how full it looks in there?
03:46I can already see the fullness and the thickness and wow, it's pretty immediate.
03:53This just needs no washing of the hair for four days. Benadryl tonight before you go to bed just to
03:59take down the inflammation and then go about your regular business. No heavy workouts, no strenuous
04:06activity, nothing that's going to increase perspiration. That's it.
04:12It was a little discomfort overall. It wasn't painful and it was done quicker than I thought it
04:19would be. Whether you're in sales or not, I just think as a woman in your 40s, you always want
04:26to
04:26look your best. You want to minimize the signs of aging so hair to me is really important. Having a
04:33full
04:33head of healthy hair just makes me look younger and feel better and I think any woman, regardless of
04:40her profession, just wants that overall.
04:43you
04:44you
