00:00It's harder to live with bad teeth than it is to live with fake ones.
00:03And so the people that are still living with their bad teeth, if they don't know that they
00:06can fix it, it's really hard to talk about it because why would you want to?
00:13I'm Alicia, otherwise known as Princess Glitterhead in the internet world, and I am converting
00:18from removable snap indentures on mini implants today to non-removable permanently fixed bridges.
00:24So I'll get my temporary set of those today.
00:27When I turned 18, I moved in with my husband.
00:30We got married young, we were 20, but I didn't start having problems really until I was pregnant.
00:35That's when I lost my first two teeth.
00:37Pregnancy does cause a lot of women to have loosened teeth because it loosens all your
00:41bones and ligaments.
00:41To give birth, it has to do that.
00:43It does that to your whole body.
00:44And I was very young, so I didn't really, I didn't know everything and I know I didn't
00:49take the right steps to correct it or slow it down.
00:52And I remember laying in my front yard, like crying about it, thinking that my husband's
00:56going to leave me because we just got married and I just gave him a baby and she's like
00:59a newborn and now his wife is falling apart and I'm only 21.
01:02And then my fourth baby, you know, I'm holding on to things and I was going to the dentist
01:06and doing what I could, but after I was done breastfeeding her, I started losing my hair,
01:10my sex drive, went to sleep all the time, my teeth were as bad as ever, skin was super
01:14dry.
01:15I was depressed, having heart palpitations, anxiety and nightmares.
01:18I ended up getting back into a place where I wanted to fix myself.
01:21And I actually did my breasts first.
01:24That's how I found my dentist because his brother actually is a plastic surgeon.
01:27So I came in for my first free consultation with Dr. Shatkin and I had my teeth within two
01:32weeks.
01:33Yeah.
01:33So Alicia came in as a regular patient.
01:35We decided to make her new dentures with mini dental implants.
01:40And she's done really, really well with them for these years and she's very happy with them.
01:44But now I think it's time for her to move to the next level, which is getting permanent teeth.
01:48The mini implants are a much less invasive procedure, it's quicker, it's painless.
01:53It's done through a tiny little pinhole in the gum.
01:56So the patients get the procedure done in literally one visit or two visits.
02:00So having permanent teeth where you cement the teeth in gives her a whole new lease on
02:04life.
02:05She can really act like she has her own set of teeth again, and that's going to give
02:09her a big boost of self-confidence.
02:13I know we've talked a few times about the procedure, but let's just go over it one more
02:17time so that you have all your information.
02:19This is pretty much what you have right now.
02:21You have the mini implants with six implants and an upper denture, and on the lower you
02:26have the four implants with the lower denture.
02:28We're going to be adding some implants to your upper jaw and we're going to be putting
02:33additional implants in and then placing a bridge like that eventually.
02:38Today you're going to get a temporary restoration that'll go in immediately.
02:42You'll have that for about two weeks and then you'll get your permanent teeth in a couple
02:46weeks.
02:46These are the temporaries that are going to go into your mouth and there's no plastic
02:50on the roof of the mouth, you know, so they're just the implant bridges.
02:54So I always wonder if something happens and something does get infected like that.
02:58Truthfully, you know, you have much fewer problems with implants than you do with natural
03:03teeth.
03:04So as long as you take care of them and come regularly, you're going to be in pretty good
03:07shape.
03:12I started sharing my story before I even went to my consultation.
03:16I decided I was going to start talking about it because I had been dealing with it for like
03:19literally 16 years and just feeling like I'm the only one going through it.
03:24But my channel is not just about dentures or implants.
03:27It's about teeth in general.
03:29And then the fact that it ties so closely into your mental health.
03:31We're going to show how hot we look, how beautiful we look with or without.
03:36So in the beginning, when I first started taking my teeth out, people were like, what the hell
03:40is she doing?
03:40Like, stop it.
03:41Put them back in.
03:43And then now people are like, but wait, aren't you going to miss this?
03:46Where are you going?
03:46I'm going to miss your videos.
03:47Like, don't leave, you know, and I'm not leaving.
03:50I don't look at things in terms of forever anymore because nothing lasts forever, especially
03:54not in my mouth.
03:55I had kind of just accepted the toothless princess.
03:58That's me.
03:59And I was really happy to be that person and fit that role.
04:02And I can see it helping so many people, including myself.
04:06So it was just unexpected.
04:09It's happiness though.
04:10It's like bittersweet.
04:14I'm not getting permanent teeth because I think there's anything wrong with not having
04:17in your teeth, but it could be what's best for me.
04:26So that's what I have to do.
04:35Getting them fixed is going to be like me having my own teeth back for the first time
04:39in 16 years since I was 21.
04:41And I have not felt what that feels like in a very long time.
04:46So during the procedure, what we're going to do is we're going to numb her up, obviously,
04:49so she's comfortable and she won't have any pain.
04:54And then we're going to plan where we're going to place these implants.
04:57And we're going to plan the location.
04:59So you'll see me marking the spots of where I want to add the six additional implants in
05:04the upper jaw and the six to eight additional implants in the lower jaw.
05:08Then I'm going to use a single pilot drill.
05:11We make a little tiny pinhole in the gum, almost like an ear piercing.
05:18And we go into the gum, through the gum and into the bone.
05:23Through that hole, we then thread the mini implant into the bone and we screw it down into
05:28the jaw.
05:31We'll put all her implants in, we'll put the housings on, you'll see me snapping little
05:35housings on the implants.
05:38And then we use an acrylic to pick those housings up in that temporary bridge.
05:45We're going to take upper and lower impressions and a bite registration of her mouth.
05:50And then we clean it up and we polish it and then we snap it in.
05:55You do your temporaries.
05:57All right.
05:58You're numb now.
05:59Don't forget it.
05:59Your mouth is numb.
06:01Yeah.
06:01Smile.
06:02Wow.
06:03Oh my God.
06:04All right.
06:05So we're going to give you antibiotics, some pain medication, leave everything in place.
06:09You're going to rinse and brush.
06:10We're going to give you a water pick to keep everything clean and we'll see you in about
06:1310 days.
06:14Okay?
06:15Okay.
06:15All right.
06:17Well, we just finished surgery.
06:19I'm still very numb.
06:20I can't feel my tongue or most of my face.
06:24So I can't talk very clearly.
06:25It feels like my lips are really swollen, starting to be in a lot of pain on the top.
06:31Usually it's really, really sore at the first day and you feel like, oh my God, tomorrow's
06:35going to be really bad.
06:36And then you wake up and it's a lot better than you're expecting.
06:40So I'm hoping for the same thing.
06:43Hi, my loves.
06:44We are on day six after my surgery.
06:48I'm already feeling such an incredible difference.
06:50I feel so much less in my mouth.
06:53Like there's more room in my mouth and I do have a little bit of a lisp, which is actually
06:57kind of fun.
06:57I don't mind having it and I'll probably be gone with the permanent ones.
07:01I'm sure it will be.
07:01I enjoy all these little weird things.
07:03It can be sort of traumatic to change your appearance like so suddenly overnight.
07:09But this time I really love these teeth and I'm just so excited to see the permanent ones.
07:16These ones fit like a glove.
07:17And if these could feel so good, then I cannot even imagine how good the permanent ones are
07:21going to feel.
07:22I don't know.
07:23I'm just so excited for everything to feel normal again.
07:26I'm just so excited for everything to feel normal again.
07:27I'm just so excited for everything to feel normal again.
07:35I'm just so excited for everything to feel normal again.
