00:00Hey guys, my name's Kelsey. Welcome to my sweet digs, where my terrace is bigger than my actual living space.
00:05But before you come in, make sure you subscribe below.
00:08Okay, come check it out.
00:10I live on the border of Tribeca and Chinatown.
00:13We pay $4,000 in rent.
00:15I do think that that is a little expensive, but it is New York City and everything's expensive.
00:20I live with my boyfriend Justin and our cat, Little Girl.
00:23He moved in here last July when we first started dating.
00:26And then this year, I moved in in June and put my touches on it.
00:32The total square footage of the apartment is 1,000 square feet, but if you take off the outside terrace,
00:37it's about 400 to 450 square feet.
00:40I think it's really hard to find an apartment with this type of outdoor area that makes the price tag
00:46worth it.
00:47So this is our bathroom.
00:49It was important to me to have a nice bathroom because in a studio, this is the only room where
00:54there's actually a door.
00:55If I wake up in the middle of the night or if Justin wakes up in the middle of the
00:58night, we kind of like come in here and like sit on the floor and work and do emails or
01:02whatever we're doing.
01:03And luckily, it's big enough that I'm not just in here sitting next to a toilet.
01:07I wanted to kind of keep it neutral and calm.
01:10We have a big vanity space, so I'm able to have like all of my jewelry and my beauty products.
01:15Some of my favorite beauty products are the Whey Wave Spray.
01:19I will wake up early, get out of the shower, kind of like do a few like spritzes and then
01:24kind of run out of the house.
01:26Another product that I love is the Caudalie Face Mist.
01:29It's like just a great refreshing mist to have in your purse and it just like helps refresh my skin.
01:36This is the kitchen.
01:37The kitchen faces the bed, so it's kind of the first thing you see when you wake up in the
01:42morning.
01:42Visually, it's really great. It's just really small.
01:45I just recently started cooking.
01:47It was nice to finally be able to cook for two people and not for one, which was always my
01:51excuse before.
01:52My favorite thing to cook is probably Greek or Mexican food.
01:56I love to make a Greek salad.
01:57It's pretty easy. It's something you definitely can't mess up.
02:01My favorite cookbook to cook out of right now is Cherry Bomb by Carrie Diamond and Claudia Wu.
02:06It's both visually really great to look at, but it also has great recipes for two people.
02:11And this is our bedroom.
02:14So when I first moved in this apartment, my boyfriend surprised me and bought me this cabinet from a furniture
02:19store called White on White.
02:20It's both visually really appealing, but also great for storage.
02:24My most sentimental item is actually a rug that we just bought in Morocco.
02:28We were actually just walking down the street and someone approached us.
02:33And I don't ever recommend anyone to do this, but we went with this man and he took us into
02:38like a secret riad, which had like amazing stacks of rugs.
02:42We ended up finding one at the right price point, the right color.
02:46And I think it's something that we'll have forever and we'll remember the experience of buying it together.
02:50When I first moved in, Justin gave me a full closet for all of my clothing and shoes.
02:55I ended up kind of taking over half of his as well.
02:59Trouble with sharing a small space is when you go to sleep and when you wake up.
03:03I'm a florist, so I wake up sometimes around 4.30.
03:07When those days are happening, I just know that I need to put everything in the bathroom and kind of
03:12sneak out in the morning.
03:13I think like for anyone, having someone move into your space is not easy, even if it's someone you love
03:20and someone you're excited to live with.
03:22He lived alone for forever and I lived alone for probably like the past eight years.
03:26But I think when you really want to be with someone and want to spend time with someone, it's nice
03:31to live together.
03:32We both work a lot, so we really just enjoy having our nights together and our mornings together.
03:38And luckily, it's been a lot easier than I thought it would be.
03:42I'm the owner and founder of Pop-Up Florist.
03:44We're a floral and plant design company based in New York City.
03:48I did fashion design for seven years and when the line I was designing for closed, I kind of started
03:54Pop-Up Florist as a side hustle.
03:57And it ended up turning into a full business and a full-time job.
04:00This is our living room and then this is our desk slash office area.
04:06Our splurge item in this apartment was the TV.
04:10It's called the Frame by Samsung.
04:12As you can see, you're able to put your own photos up.
04:15It's a really fun way to display a TV without it being the focus and centerpiece of the room.
04:21I think the TV was around $2,000, which is a lot for a TV right now, but I definitely
04:27think it's something we'll have for a very long time.
04:29I have an obsession with baskets.
04:31You'll probably see around the apartment, probably only like 20% of them are here.
04:35The rest are in storage.
04:36What do you guys think?
04:37Should I keep collecting baskets?
04:39You can sound off in the comments below.
04:40My favorite home find are these Turkish rug pillows that I actually found at Ikea.
04:47They're made out of vintage Turkish rugs.
04:50I think they're just a really interesting pop of color to the apartment.
04:53And this is our outdoor space.
04:56This apartment, as being a studio, is really a transitional space for us.
05:00I didn't want to spend a ton of money on the outdoor space, so I kind of put my DIY
05:05mind to use and said, let's buy a picnic table, just a plain picnic table, and paint it and kind
05:11of make it our own.
05:12And I think we did it all for under $200.
05:14Owning pop-up florists has really helped with my design eye.
05:18I've now designed two retail spaces.
05:21Going through that exercise has really helped me with the apartment.
05:24I think my home style is definitely bohemian.
05:27I love to mix colors and patterns and textures.
05:31I really like the vibe of it being tropical.
05:34All of the plants, unfortunately, probably won't make it through the winter.
05:38Luckily, I own a plant shop, so when it starts to get cold, I'm going to sell them or give
05:43them away.
05:44I think this apartment was built for entertaining.
05:46I love to entertain.
05:47People really love the space, and I think when people walk in, they see how special it is and can
05:52see, like, all of the energy and hard work we put into the terrace, especially.
05:56Justin and I actually met on Tinder.
05:58It actually works sometimes after you go on a lot of terrible dates.
06:03I walked in, and he was drinking a grapefruit margarita, which is my favorite drink, so obviously, like, we're going
06:10to get married because of that.
06:11Oddly enough, like, one of our talking points was that he was moving, and then he was moving into this
06:16apartment.
06:16We'll always, like, look back at this place and think of it as, like, such an amazing home that we
06:21were able to create together.
06:22I think that it's, like, truly our apartment.
06:24Thank you so much for checking out my sweet digs.
