00:00Hey guys, this is Triple Threat.
00:01I'm Laurice and I'm here with my girl Channing and Rae.
00:04Today we're talking all about red lipsticks.
00:07We brought some of our favorites.
00:08We're going to be applying them and talking about some of our cult favorites.
00:11We just want to see if they're really going to work for all different skin types, so this
00:14should be fun.
00:15So before we get into these red lipsticks, make sure you subscribe to the channel down

00:19I really only go for red lipstick if it's like a big deal.
00:23I'm a very extra person, so I wear red lips literally with everything.
00:27I did a thing where I jumped way ahead when I was in high school.
00:30I used to wear way too much makeup and I would do the full winged liner and a red lip
00:34every
00:35single day.
00:35It was so dedicated.
00:36It was a pain.
00:37My first encounter with red lipstick was my mom's.
00:41I went in that drawer and took her little wet and wild red lipstick and was like, okay, I
00:47think I can try this.
00:48My first red lipstick I feel like was MAC Ruby Blue because at the time it was so popular
00:55and I forget the actress that wore it.
00:57It might have been Gabrielle Union, but I was like, our skin tones are similar.
01:00I know that I can pull this off.
01:02When I went into middle school, MAC was all the craze.
01:05I went straight into Macy's at my local mall, got my face done at the counter and I took
01:10home the Russian red that day.
01:11I just found a new favorite and it is Fenty Beauty, the Stunna Lip Pink.
01:17When I got it, I put it on and my mom is not really a fan of red lipsticks and
01:22she was
01:22just like, that looks nice.
01:23And I was like, okay, is that a compliment?
01:26Okay.
01:27But I wore it all day.
01:30I didn't have to do any touch-ups.
01:31I ate, I drank.
01:32It does bleed like a tiny bit, so I have to be mindful of what I'm wearing or where my
01:36hands are.
01:37Yeah.
01:37But other than that, I think it's pretty perfect.
01:40Look at the applicator.
01:41Ooh, yeah.
01:41That's nice.
01:41So yeah, the Dough applicator I think is really helpful, which is probably why I don't use
01:44a liner because I can line my lips and then apply it.
01:47You shouldn't have to dip it back in to my cheek and just do it like that.
01:51What?
01:52That was just, wow.
01:54It went everywhere in the bottom lip.
01:55That was amazing.
01:57Now see, mine's not going to look this way.
01:59I know.
02:00I'm like being sold over here.
02:02I'm all in her mirror.
02:02See, and look, I'm done.
02:03I like it a lot.
02:04Rihanna did it.
02:07You get me.
02:10Do you guys ever feel like you need to use a straw when you have a red lip on?
02:13Yes.
02:14I do, but not with this one because then I feel like typically when you don't use a straw,
02:19you get that weird like middle thing that like peels off down there.
02:23But not here.
02:24I hate the way those cups look though because like I'm the person who like if I'm drinking
02:28a coffee, I'll never like, or like even a cup of tea, like a mug, I never put my lips
02:34in the same place so it's just like lit.
02:36Yeah, it's everywhere around the cup and it's just a mess.
02:39So I typically use a straw.
02:40It's just like...
02:41Oh, that's a good point.
02:42It's just like how many people have been drinking my coffee cup.
02:47I guess it's my turn.
02:49Dun dun dun.
02:50So this is just my little NYX Extreme Lip Cream.
02:53I really only wear red lipstick if I'm like going to a carpet or like, I don't know,
02:59maybe I have a date or something crazy.
03:00It is a little darker, but when it does dry, it's a little bit lighter.
03:04And this one I typically do have to like dip it back in.
03:08This one also bleeds.
03:10So I never try to get it to the top of my lips either.
03:13Wow.
03:14And he's done.
03:15Yeah, you're going to a carpet tonight.
03:17Right?
03:18A little date.
03:19A little date, a little something.
03:20A date with my desk after this.
03:22I like it because it's kind of smooth.
03:25It does have a gloss like consistency.
03:28So it is like that little bit of stick, but it's never like tacky.
03:31I'm going to go with my everyday kind of look.
03:33I don't have anywhere to go after this.
03:35So I'm going to choose my more pared down red.
03:39And I'm going to do the technique.
03:41Guys.
03:42If I don't use liner, the lipstick tends to like get down towards my chin.
03:47And I have like a weird red line there after a few hours.
03:51I do such a focus on my cupid's bow area to make it super pronounced.
03:56I do a dab.
03:57I do not do a swipe.
03:59I do a dab.
04:00I probably learned that from my like 1950s era grandmother.
04:03Did you ever do that trick where you put your finger in your mouth and you pull it out?
04:06Yes.
04:06I don't know it did.
04:08I just felt like I was sucking my thumb.
04:10Yeah.
04:11It's supposed to, I guess, take the lipstick color off of the parts that would touch your teeth.
04:16Oh really?
04:16Yeah.
04:16Yeah.
04:19It worked too because it's some jump on mine.
04:21Yeah I got everything all over my thumb.
04:23Ooh.
04:24Romantic.
04:25Ooh.
04:26Ready for working guys.
04:28It looks so nice and clean.
04:31And I really like your cupid's bow.
04:34Okay now we're going to try a few cult red lipsticks and we're going to start with an
04:37option from the drugstore, Red Blonde's Fire and Ice.
04:40And we'll see how that looks on each of our skin tones.
04:43I don't like this.
04:44I want more drama.
04:45I don't like this.
04:46Meanwhile I'm like, this doesn't sound bad.
04:49It feels really buttery.
04:51I will say.
04:52It feels great.
04:52The texture is actually amazing.
04:54It does feel like lip balm.
04:55The formula is great.
04:56The color is just not for me.
04:58It's always so hard shopping for a lipstick especially at a drugstore unlike at a makeup
05:01counter because there really isn't an option for samples.
05:04Yeah.
05:04Yeah it's just a bit too pink I feel like for me.
05:08For the next drugstore lipstick we're going to try it's this Maybelline one.
05:12The color is Red Revival.
05:14Ooh it's a really deep red.
05:17It's good not great.
05:18Yeah.
05:18I really like the color.
05:20I just think I'm a little caught off guard but it has shiny it is.
05:23Wow it's really luscious on your lips.
05:26It is.
05:26But I put on like three coats.
05:29Because it was like spotty.
05:31But I really do like the color.
05:33It was just like okay that's not enough.
05:36Yeah.
05:37Next.
05:42Okay so we tried the drugstore.
05:44Now we're going to do something a little bit more upscale.
05:47Not quite there yet.
05:48But it's the famous Ruby Woo by MAC.
05:51You all know this girl.
05:52Hey old friend.
05:54Yup.
05:56That's her.
05:58It's so classic.
06:00It just feels like the red.
06:03Yeah I agree.
06:04I still love it.
06:05You look so cute today.

06:08Because the color really does look amazing on you though.
06:11It's so satiny on your lips.

06:15This face was made for red lips.

06:20One thing I always liked about this one was the finish.
06:23So it's not super super glossy.
06:25It's like a casual kind of thing.
06:27I was okay with it on my face until I saw it on Channing's.
06:30So I was like wow okay that's what it looks like when it looks really amazing.

06:34I have lipstick on my forehead.
06:36That's how you know you're doing worse.
06:37Yeah I know.
06:38We're gonna stay on the MAC train and we're going to go with the second classic from the
06:43brand which is Russian Red.
06:45It feels exactly how I used to apply it.
06:47I would over exaggerate my bow a little bit since it sort of has this rich color to it.

06:57I hope it looks that good on me.

07:01It does feel good going on.

07:03Sorry Ruby I think I might be a Russian Red girl now.
07:08I was ready to hate it because it felt a little shiny but I do really like it.

07:16That is the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me.
07:18I still like that it's not as dry as Ruby I'm sorry but it's like it feels good.
07:24It feels balmy almost.
07:25Ruby Woo is a retro matte lipstick.

07:28As opposed to Russian Red which is just a matte.
07:32I don't know if that has any difference in the formula.
07:34I'm assuming so since we kind of felt it.
07:36But whatever that difference is I like it.
07:39Yeah.
07:39It makes all the difference.
07:41I like the way Russian Red feels.
07:44But I like the way Ruby Woo looks.
07:47Oh.
07:48For our final Colch lipstick that we're all going to try today.
07:52It's going to be Chanel's shade Empirate.
07:54Which I guess is the one to try from this luxury line.
07:58And you pop it like this.
07:59Which sounds fancy.
08:01I like it.
08:03It is really tiny though.
08:04The actual stick itself.
08:06It smells expensive.
08:08It smells like perfume.
08:10I think you have to use it on it's side.
08:12Oh great call.
08:13That makes I think a lot of difference.

08:16Nah you're struggling.
08:18No it's this user error right here.
08:22When I put it on it's not so much that it's better.
08:25There's just a like softer touch to the appearance of it.
08:29I like the shade.
08:30I like the way it looks on my mouth.

09:03Ruby Woo and Pirate but I think they're different vibes.
09:05Ruby Woo is like my no fail all the time.
09:08But this one is like.
09:09When I'm trying to be like a grown up.
09:12Like when I want to be dressed up.
09:13Cult lipsticks versus my own lipsticks.
09:15I think I would stick with my own.
09:18Just because the only difference between like all of the cult ones we tried.
09:23And mine was the like wand application.
09:26I really really like the liquid.
09:28If these formulas could magically become liquids.
09:31I would be like down to try because I really really love Ruby Woo's color.
09:34But I don't know I think I'm just a liquid lipstick kind of girl.
09:37Right now until I figure out how to like really swipe in one of the cult lipsticks that I tried
09:41and like.
09:42I'd stick with my own.
09:43The difference came down to me where like if I was rushing and I had to do something on the
09:47train.
09:47I could not do the lip paint.
09:50Rihanna's lip paint.
09:51Because I need a mirror.
09:52So I think Ruby Woo is my winner.
09:54So we are done finally.
09:56We tried way too many lipsticks.
09:58But we tried some cult favorites.
10:00We tried some of our own.
10:02And at the end of the day we have to say.
10:04Max Ruby Woo is the universal lipstick.
10:08The universal red lipstick for all skin tones.
10:10If you guys would have picked a different color.
10:13Or a different brand.
