00:02You have to trust your provider because she's literally holding a knife across
00:07your face. One wrong move and you'll get nicked.
00:20Hi, I'm Nina and I'm getting a Dermaplane facial done today. My skin is
00:26really dry normally. I never go out into the sun and it flakes a lot and I have a
00:31lot of whiteheads. My biggest concern really is the dryness and then the
00:37wrinkles flowing around my eyes. My name is Alexa Yance and I am a medical
00:44esthetician at Facile Dermatology and Boutique. I've been a medical
00:48esthetician for almost 30 years now. I have done more Dermaplane facials than I
00:53can probably count. Dermaplane is really ideal for patients who have very dry
00:59dehydrated skin. Patients are really amazed at how much peach fuzz they have removed
01:05from their skin. A lot of people like the Dermaplaning because of the smooth texture
01:11it leaves afterwards. Makeup goes on smoother, your products absorb better, it
01:16just gives an all-over better glow to the skin. I'm mostly concerned about the
01:22blade cutting off essentially the top layer of my skin. I'm going to start
01:26cleansing.
01:42I really try to tell everybody not to talk when I'm doing this because I do have a
01:47straight edge blade in my hand so I don't want to nick you. So no more talking.
01:56Alexa takes the 10-gauge surgical blade and starts scraping all of the dead skin and
02:03the hairs off my face. I can see from the corner of my eye coming off in these
02:10little tufts but it actually feels really good.
02:24We are going to proceed with the red light which is light stim.
02:28Ooh, anti-aging.
02:32Red light therapy helps with any kind of inflammation. It also helps to stimulate
02:39collagen production as well as cut any redness within the skin. It's a great way
02:45to end any treatment.
02:49After the red light therapy, Alexa removes the goggles and then she applies sunscreen to
02:54protect my exfoliated skin from UV rays.
02:57It's like you just took off like so much stress in my life.
03:05After 12 years, dermaplaning has just come very natural to me. I feel very confident
03:09treating patients with that surgical blade in my hand.
03:13One of the biggest questions with dermaplaning is if the hair grows back thicker
03:18or darker and it does not. It typically grows back just as fine as it was within a few weeks.
03:26After dermaplane, I usually recommend that my patients avoid any chemicals
03:32to lessen the sensitivity of the skin.
03:35I'm pretty happy with the results of my dermaplane facial.
03:39My skin feels smooth. It feels heavily exfoliated.
03:43I was definitely not surprised by how much dead skin I have on my face.
03:46I would recommend dermaplaning to anybody that I know who wants a really good exfoliating procedure.
03:54I wish I could have more cleansing, more exfoliating, more everything.
03:57I mean, it's easy to get addicted to getting a life-changing facial.
