00:00Before big event, always celebrities want that sculpted face, which means lifted brows, sculpted cheeks, sharp jawline, hydrated, glowing, bright
00:12skin. Perfect canvas for the makeup artist.
00:16Hi, everyone. I'm Sarah Tan, Refinery29's beauty director, and here in Hollywood, it is awards season, which means the Golden
00:24Globes, the Emmys, and the Oscars, and all of our favorite celebrities are stepping out on the red carpet in
00:30full glam.
00:31So today, I'm going to find out how these celebrities get their skin to look flawless and camera-ready for
00:36the carpet with celebrity esthetician Joanna Cech.
00:40Hi, Joanna.
00:40Hello, Sarah. Great to see you again.
00:42Good to see you. I'm so excited for your signature facial.
00:46Joanna, why is it important to get a facial ahead of a big event, especially when there's cameras on your
00:51face?
00:52It is very important to get it done, but my preference is to start getting ready a little earlier.
00:59If you know the date of your event, let's say if we are talking about nominees, they usually know six
01:04weeks in advance.
01:05I really would emphasize on getting ready then already.
01:10This is the time to do a little more advanced treatments.
01:15And then those final touches, that's, I would say, day to seven days before.
01:21Because I would say Joanna Cech method, what involves different skincare lines and different technologies, different modalities, definitely provides at
01:32least seven to ten days lasting results.
01:35Can you share some of your celebrity clients who you have helped prep for a big event?
01:39Among them are Jennifer Aniston, Anna Wintour, Kim Kardashian, Amber Valletta.
01:44I don't know. It's a very long list.
01:47Yeah, and every one of your clients, celebrity or not, is a celebrity to you.
01:51You give them the same treatment.
01:52This is exactly what I always say.
01:55I want the Joanna Cech special.
01:56The slapping.
01:57The slapping.
01:58The slapping.
01:58I want to get checked.
02:00You will get checked.
02:01Yes.
02:03We're going to start with cleansing.
02:05I'll be using on you today, Sublimash oil cleanser.
02:09Then we will go into massage.
02:11I am massaging deep into the muscles, manipulating muscles, modeling the muscles for about 10 to 15 minutes during the
02:19treatment.
02:20And then those final touches is that slapping that I'm kind of known for.
02:24I keep beating everybody up.
02:26I love that.
02:26When you press the skin and you have a product already on the skin, skin microscopically opens just like a
02:33sponge.
02:33And when you release, the sponge closes and the product gets trapped already right at the surface.
02:40So that's as you would be almost pressing and releasing very fast.
02:44And massage that I do, it is already sculpting, but at the same time, it's a form of desincrustation.
02:50I use pre-cleanse oil and then I follow with clay mask.
02:53Oil works as a desincrustant.
02:55It's going to soften any dehydrated patches and soften any sebum access, anything that any impurities.
03:03And then clay mask is going to detach it.
03:05So by the time I'm going to remove those products, 10 to 15 minutes later with a gauze, your skin
03:11already feels smooth.
03:12After that, I will do some mechanical exfoliation.
03:15This is the moment that skin starts getting ready to infuse the product that I choose for your condition.
03:22I'll be using probably something brightening, something with peptides to strengthen the skin.
03:28And I will be using Lima Laser for that, for faster penetration.
03:32After that, microcurrents, muscle stimulation to brighten the skin by moving hemoglobin.
03:39That's an oxygen carrier.
03:41It's targeted muscle stimulation.
03:43So that's when I will be concentrating on stimulating largest muscle a lot.
03:49Because if frontalis is stimulated, that automatically lifts your brows.
03:54You need to start with lifting your forehead, your brows, then stimulating cheeks.
04:01And if cheeks have micro swelling, then automatically that's what's going to lift your jawline.
04:07And then I will use LED panel with negative ionization with some finishing serums.
04:12Negative ionization, it's quality of air that we experience walking along the beach.
04:17Very calming, very relaxing.
04:19And at the same time, strengthening for our immune system.
04:23Among finishing touches, those final steps during the facial, I use cryogenic air by Zimmer Company.
04:30We get into minus 17 Celsius sometimes.
04:33It's just kind of to seal everything in, close the cuticle.
04:37It just freezes your face into the shape that we created.
04:42Joanna, thank you so much.
04:44My skin feels amazing.
04:45It looks amazing.
04:47I'm so glad.
04:47I'm ready for the red carpet.
04:49You do look great.
04:50You're ready for your red carpet.
04:54Actually, I think you really see results.
04:57You feel great today.
04:59Tomorrow, you will feel better.
05:01Up to seven days, you can see increasingly better results.
05:05What your friends will notice?
05:06Oh, you are rested.
05:07Did you go for holidays?
05:08These are those kind of minimal changes, but they are very noticeable.
05:12Yeah.
05:13Thank you, Joanna.
05:15So good to see you.
05:16Great to see you again.
