00:05Out of the 1,200 firefighters working in Honolulu, Hawaii,
00:09only 17 are women.
00:13Fighting fires and staging ocean rescues is literally her day job.
00:19She's ready for anything.
00:21I am not afraid to climb a 100-foot ladder to save someone.
00:26Your turn?
00:27I am not afraid to rush into a burning building to save a life.
00:30I can climb 40 stories with a hose, with a set of axes,
00:34with 40 pounds of SCBA equipment on.
00:37It's not a problem.
00:38That kind of courage, that kind of dedication to the people in your community,
00:42it's more than just a career.
00:43It's not just a job that at the end of the day I go home and I'm done,
00:47and I'm not a firefighter anymore.
00:48I am a firefighter 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
00:54When you call for emergency services, you are having the worst day of your life.
00:59And we come in with a set of skills prepared to help you.
01:07The look of relief on the faces of those that we are coming to help,
01:10it's a beautiful sight to see the calm wash over them when we come in and we get to work.
01:16And it feels amazing to be able to give back to the community in such a powerful way.
01:22My younger self would think that I am a badass.
01:25You know, running around as a kid in yellow turnouts and pink boots,
01:29this is exactly what my five-year-old self would want me to be doing.
01:33I'm not a badass, but I'm not a badass on.
01:33But I would say, just to see that them who will get into the story,
01:33And if they are hard to get into the story,
01:33You know what I'm doing is family right now.
