00:00Sometimes it takes you 22 years to realize that all you want to sound like is one thing
00:04and this is it.
00:05Open D6-9 tuning, Open D6-7 tuning, just kidding, that's for the internet, you know?
00:35Hey everyone, I'm Sean from the band Glom.
00:38We are on tour right now and so I'm here with Digital Tour Bus to do a rig, Gear Master's
00:45rig rundown, okay?
00:47So let's start with the guitar.
00:49This is the main one for the tour because most of the songs, I play in two different tunings,
00:54actually four different tunings total but there are only two guitars on stage.
00:57This one is a 2025 Gibson Les Paul Custom.
01:02I got this in Nashville from Gibson.
01:06I love it.
01:07I've always wanted one of these and as you can see it's getting kind of a, there's some
01:11wear going on right there but this is a, it's heavy, it's very heavy in a lot of ways.
01:17Right now this guitar is in C, open C so it's without the capo, you might be able to not
01:24pick this up but it's just open C.
01:26And I have these right now with a, like a custom 11 set.
01:32So like the top, the bottom here is very heavy and then the top goes up to 11.
01:39So I have mostly the guitar dimed so it's always at 10, 10 and then it's usually on the rhythm
01:44pickup only.
01:45I never really go to this, it's too bright.
01:47I don't really like that.
01:49This is the second guitar and I actually just got this one used before the day the tour started.
01:55So I was playing a Les Paul, that was a Custom Shop Les Paul, it was an R8 and I
02:01decided that
02:02if I broke it I would be really mad.
02:04So I sold some stuff and got this and this is a 2019 standard.
02:08It's pretty beat up already.
02:11That was not for me but it's, you know, some grime on there.
02:13Some of it could have been from me but the pickup cover was already popped off.
02:17So this one is currently in open D6-9 tuning, open D6-7 tuning, just kidding, that's for the
02:24internet, you know.
02:25Open D6-9 tuning and so it's like that.
02:30I learned that from a Fleet Foxes song when I was in high school so I've been using it
02:34ever since.
02:35These are just standard 10s.
02:37So basically there's two different things going on here.
02:42When I say two different things I mean there's only one thing going on and it's just loud,
02:45as loud as possible.
02:46So the amp is already loud, this is a JCM-800 but everything starts with this strobe tuner,
02:54this Peterson strobe tuner.
02:55I also have this tuner.
02:56It's not plugged in, it's for backup.
03:01But they both kind of don't work.
03:03So it's one of those, it's a risk, it's a risk, everything's a risk, every day's a risk.
03:07This is a whammy pedal.
03:09I have this set at the octave up and octave down so playing at the same time.
03:15So it'll have the actual guitar and the octave up sound.
03:20That's my favorite sound, it's like my iron lung sound which is kind of the basis
03:26for what I want my guitar to sound like a lot of times.
03:29And then I have a Tube Screamer.
03:31So let's get into the real weeds with this, the Tube Screamer.
03:35I heard about this hack because I was obsessed with Slayer when I was in high school and still,
03:41even though the band doesn't sound like that at all.
03:44And I was reading that they would like hot rod their Marshall JCM 800s with Tube Screamers specifically on the
03:52album Rain and Blood.
03:54And so this was the setting that I had read online where it's just volume all the way up, drive
03:58all the way down, tone all the way down,
04:00and then into that and it just makes it louder.
04:02And that's what I use it for.
04:03And then this is the Hizomitis.
04:06This is my favorite fuzz pedal I've ever had.
04:08It is a, it's the Boris Guitar Player's signature pedal.
04:13It's based off of a specific, I think it's like a triangle Big Muff, Bermuda Triangle Big Muff, whatever you
04:23want to say.
04:23And so that's why I like that.
04:25It's loud.
04:26It's the loudest one I've ever had.
04:27And then lastly, but not least, I'm obsessed with Keith Richards and he used a phaser.
04:35And so that's why I have it.
04:38And that's it.
04:39I used to play a much bigger board, but now I think that like it kind of got to the
04:43point where I didn't want to make it sound too different from the amp.
04:47So now it's just like, it sounds like an amp.
04:49So this is by JCM 800.
04:51I'm obsessed with it.
04:52I had a real phase last summer where I,
04:57I get into phases where I buy a lot of the same thing.
05:01As you can see that last summer was an SG thing.
05:03I had a lot of SGs, but now they've been traded.
05:05They've been, there's my assets are floating around, you know, nothing's locked in.
05:08Nothing's too locked in.
05:10So I have two JCMs right now.
05:11One of them is a combo.
05:12And then this one is the head.
05:14And so this is a 2203, I believe.
05:17And it is from 1986.
05:21And it's my favorite amp.
05:23It's the best.
05:23This is, I realized that sometimes it takes you 22 years to realize that all you want to sound like
05:28is one thing.
05:29And this is it.
05:30And this is what I've been wanting to sound like since I was a kid.
05:32And I found it.
05:33So there you go.
05:34To be honest, like when we were touring with it last summer, I had to have the presence and the
05:38treble all the way down.
05:40But that was when we were playing with, when I was playing with SGs.
05:43I think SGs are just like a little bit brighter.
05:45And so it was like popping way more.
05:47And also I was playing through a one by 12 cabinet instead of a two by 12 cabinet.
05:51And so it was like a really bright sound.
05:53That wasn't great for what we were doing.
05:56So I, now that there are less pause in through a two 12, I have the presence kind of like
06:01really, it's at nine o'clock, like kind of low.
06:06Then like just boosted mid, mid and base.
06:08And then realistically speaking, like, I don't think that you can like physically have it above two in any size
06:16room.
06:17So it's at two and the gains around like two 30 or sorry, not two 30.
06:21I mean, uh, nine 30, nine and nine 30.
06:24It's still really loud.
06:26Like we're just, this is literally like at like 1.5 on the, like, it's literally like right there.
06:32And it's not, it's, it fills the whole room.
06:34So I don't know how people were playing with like multiple, like Jay Mascus or whatever, but like, it's loud.
06:40It's a loud guitar sound.
06:41I like these a lot.
06:42And I've been playing with the same two this entire tour.
06:45So Dunlop, these are the one millimeter.
06:48This is my favorite pick.
06:49I've been playing guitar since I was 11 years old and I'm 33 now.
06:53So this is the, this is the pick for me.
06:55This is the only pick I've ever played.
06:57So.
06:58So if you want to follow Glom, uh, any of the artistic endeavors that are going on with this project,
07:04you can go to, uh, at New York Glom on every platform or, uh, Glom.World and the music is
07:09streaming everywhere.
07:10So thank you for watching.
07:11Cool.
07:11I've wanted to do a rig rundown my entire life.
07:42Cool.
07:43Yeah.
07:45Let go.
07:47Let's just pray.
07:48That's a great intro.
07:49Bye.
