00:26we are past not lately summer league well not what i said interesting not tons of news coming all the
00:33way brian you love that jordan walsh extension that came so excited me today uh but time was
00:40recording this good deal for him though good deal for him we're still waiting uh got as much per year
00:44as landry shabby i know it's crazy almost almost almost crazy but hey everybody's out here time
00:51was recording it's still waiting on lebron news we will have something on that i'm sure
00:55to talk about at some point but it has been a while since we did a new york got game

01:01so we are going to look at some interesting questions and comments that we've had from the
01:07fans from the people over the last month and a half or so i'd say since the knicks won their
01:13title
01:13first title in 53 years um so we're just gonna get right to it man we're gonna see what the
01:18comments
01:19are we've got eight of them we have not seen any of these comments or questions at all so brian
01:24and
01:24i will just be reacting to this in real time no bs like we have not seen we have not
01:28seen these
01:28this is just what our producers have chosen um that they thought was interesting so you know they
01:34chose hopefully they chose the hopefully y'all brought it with your best is what i'm saying
01:38hopefully that has happened and hopefully the best ones were selected we hope the best ones were
01:43selected all right let's get into it what is the first question comment that we have from the people
01:48this is from erizzo5 okay this one this one looks good this one okay so the knicks have the best
01:53chance to go back to back since the warriors last did it whoa all right no why it's not because

02:00have the same players minus mitch it's because they generally love playing with each other and
02:05sacrifice for one another alvarado shaman and clarkson each didn't test free agency to go to get the
02:10biggest deal they could find and if they did we wouldn't even blame them as you only have a finite
02:14amount of years in the nba they settled with as much as the knicks can give them to stay they
02:20will
02:20fight for each other as much as i want to savor this championship i can't wait for next season
02:28so interesting erizzo i think there's a lot of good things that you said here can we leave this up

02:32a little bit yeah it's a long one i have to process i think there's a lot of good things

02:37it's a well thought out comment though i'll say that much i i agree can we get to the first

02:41can we just start with the first part of what he says yes we have to the knicks have the

02:44chance to go back to back since the warriors last did it i want to say that i thought that
02:51the thunder last year had a really good chance to go back here's the problem dex we've been doing
02:56this every year for the last few somebody's gonna break it though yeah no no no what i'm saying is
03:01like the celtics had the best chance the nuggets had the best chance the thunder had the best chance
03:06we didn't do it with the warriors in 2022 we had no one thought that the warriors were gonna repeat
03:09i don't think do we even do it with the bucks in 21 no probably not yeah no uh i
03:14don't think we
03:15did it with the lakers either but the last three champions prior to the next i agree everybody said
03:19we and and there was reason to believe that because denver's like they just whooped everybody and they
03:24have the best player boston's like they have the best team they have a machine they can't miss from
03:29three and then okc has the runway of all the picks the youth the two-way play and all these
03:35different
03:35things and look they got hurt last year so like we don't know what would have happened if they played
03:40the knicks in the finals uh that i like that you said that health is such a factor yeah health
03:44is a
03:45huge factor this is something that like with the knicks after four deep playoff runs you're like okay
03:50can you be healthy for a fifth and if they are healthy for a fifth then i think they can
03:53win the title
03:54i don't know about best chance i don't think that part of it matters i think they have a chance
03:58though they do have a chance to repeat obviously yeah i i i think of these teams that have recently
04:04won i would have said i thought if you if i just take everybody team at their roster i think
04:08the
04:08thunder going to last year i would have said had the best chance because i think they had the best
04:12roster out of all and the deepest roster and the highest and talent out of all these teams and then
04:17denver would have been a close second for me before boston now i probably will put the knicks over
04:24boston because i like their depth now they've lost some of their depth well i trust the way they
04:29play more than the next yes well okay that's a great point i think that matters a ton too yes

04:36you play and then to e wizzle's point that he's bringing up here playing for each other culture
04:42culture so look at you out you out here using the culture word i i think you know when i
04:50talked to
04:50steph about the steph of stephan bondi i asked him this a couple weeks ago i was like you know

04:54you think this matters to the culture of the team that people want to stay right yeah i think it
04:59does
05:00so i do think that matters to e wizzle's point um and i understand his excitement for next season
05:05yeah save for this championship look it's a good summer in new york people it's a real good summer
05:10in new york the vibes have been good minus the floods you got a couple even people who are not
05:14knicks fans are telling me ah the vibes have been good i talked to a nets fan who i was
05:19at the
05:19barclay center yesterday he was like man i was watching these next games and i couldn't even hate
05:23he was like he was like i was here like these comebacks were great he's like i couldn't even
05:28hate he's in that season ticket holder i've known him a long time um i was talking he's also a
05:32liberty
05:32season ticket holder and i was chatting it up with him and i mean well you got more optimism there
05:37oh he we talked about that too that's a whole other story yeah but sabrina's waking up a little bit
05:42but what i will say is i do think the connectivity of this team is going to matter i do
05:47think the
05:47playoff battles they've been through is going to matter i do think they just know how to win
05:50that's how you can keep a window open but brian you mentioned the thing about with okc and all
05:55the stuff you can have the best chance and think you have the best chance and you might think they
05:59have the best chance since the warriors or whatever fine if you ain't healthy ain't none of that gonna
06:04matter and it's like all the other teams that we just talked about it's just incredibly hard to
06:09repeat now because think about what denver had to go against that year after they won a championship
06:15so that was the first okc year where they became a playoff team they became you know best record and
06:22all these different things uh dallas ended up going to the finals that year because minnesota was the
06:26team that was built to beat denver and they did that and then it was like oh wait we need
06:30to do
06:31something about luca don just setting up all these quarter threes that pj washington keeps making
06:34and then also uh uh gaffley the combination of daniel gafford and derrick liveway just playing out there
06:41for 48 minutes uh in total um because you had like a really good center rotation like all these
06:46different things and then boston won their title and the knicks were built to beat the celtics which
06:53was something that was mocked all year because it didn't look that way at all and then they beat the
06:58celtics but then you weren't necessarily somebody built to beat the knicks well here's the thing
07:04well one we need to see like what else happens in the offseason uh two i think pistons fans would
07:09say
07:10that the pistons are but they need to get there first and i need to see what their roster looks
07:13like also um well look we didn't get the playoff series last year um i don't think the pistons
07:22would have won it i don't either i think it would have been more interesting than the south the the
07:26cav series that we got um but i think with with the east though as we've talked about there's just
07:31so
07:31many teams now there's like 10 teams that want to win games in the eastern conference and there's
07:37going to be like a pool of legitimately competitive basketball coming out of it once we get there
07:42between the pistons and the pacers and the celtics and the heat and uh the hawks who actually took
07:49some steps and the calves it's like we can go on down but there's like orlando there's like a lot
07:55of
07:55teams that are trying toronto if they get kawaii they're interesting like there's just a lot of
07:59teams that you're gonna have to navigate yeah but if you're a knicks fan i think you should feel
08:02confident you should i'm not i'm not saying not to feel confident but i just understand like it's
08:09it's gonna be very difficult it's it's not not to mention whatever comes out of the western i'll put
08:15it like this the way the knicks are constituted with their playoff experience um now having won
08:20a championship and i'm sure brunson will have the guys motivated again because he knows there's going
08:24to be the doubters i i think the knicks standards is disappointing if they're not at least in the eastern
08:31conference finals i feel like that's a disappointment yeah yeah i would put it that way that's the way
08:36i put it if they're not in the conference finals battling for a chance to get a championship you're
08:40assuming health though assuming health yeah yeah obviously if you're not healthy you're not healthy
08:43you're not healthy and that's it yeah that's all right good one eriz 05 we appreciate that yeah

08:52next let's see what we got all right this is from marvin lassi i hope i got that right for

08:59uh the new york knicks overcame all their weaknesses with their strengths which were heart
09:03there goes a lot of heart again uh no josh hart cohesiveness and 80s lakers like fast break
09:09finishing layer performances and very good perimeter shooting performances um
09:17here's the thing for me one i don't 80s late 80s lakers like fast break before finishing
09:22late performances it's a bit much they didn't kind of you know it wasn't magic uh passing a worthy
09:27and finishing on the break uh i would necessarily say there but the knicks did a good job of taking
09:33advantage of things in transition when they needed to i think if we went into the playoffs i think a
09:39lot and we talked about this um the knicks strengths we knew what the knicks the knicks could
09:46be a really good offensive team they were top five offensive team the defense got better through
09:50through the year i think that's the biggest key for me in the postseason the defense got better
09:54and then they found ways to maximize their offensive potential when using cat as the hub
10:00but not even just that they were able to always have as brian would say a counter to the counter
10:06yeah and when there was something that the other teams tried to take away they were able to adjust
10:10and i think so much of that had to do with mike brown's adaptability throughout the regular season
10:14and that's where it mattered in the postseason so their weaknesses i think if you were going into the
10:19postseason and being honest about it was how are they going to hold up defensively right and then
10:24i remember before the postseason we had a guy gerard hector on from true hoop and he said to me
10:28well if
10:29the knicks can just play towards a defensive level they played towards the end of the season when they
10:33were in that top seven eight ish range of defense in the nba and their offense can become even morally
10:40and this goes to your point marvin about the perimeter shooting performances that you got
10:46from og and obie who was fantastic throughout the playoffs right that you got from michael bridges
10:51when he came alive after his pitiful first three games of the playoffs right and he really came up
10:57when they needed landry shaman they were even able to survive a finals where deuce mcbride
11:02couldn't hit a shot so yeah that mattered too i think what they were able to do on the perimeter
11:07but i just think they felt comfortable in their offense and everybody understood their role
11:11and i thought that mattered a ton brian i think the main thing that helped them just overcome
11:16all their weaknesses with it was just the fourth quarters and how whatever whatever the situation
11:23was you just felt like they could put enough together to win in the fourth quarter because
11:27as we said they were the best fourth quarter team all season long in the regular season then they
11:31proved it in the playoffs once again and i think the the main thing that really helped them was just
11:38whatever happened in the third quarter in the second quarter in the first quarter whatever happened
11:43in the 36 minutes beforehand just you wipe it away just men in black style just you don't even
11:48remember it at that point and then you just go into the fourth quarter with this new mindset of
11:53desperation and i think their desperation being greater than everyone else's their urgency to execute
12:01down the stretch um and just whatever they were able to do in the fourth like that's generally what got
12:07them over the hump and i think that that's the story of this team to me is just being the
12:12best team
12:13when it mattered the most even if they weren't the best team necessarily for all 48 minutes all the
12:18time but when it mattered the most they came through more than anybody else did yeah the resiliency part
12:23mattered to me a ton with this team and i think that when you think of this championship that's the
12:28word that always come to mind for me is resilient and we said it a bunch of times in the
12:31post-game shows and during the lives is resiliency that that's what i think you'll think about with this
12:36and um adaptability is probably the second word i'm talking about because the adaptability to me of
12:42what what they were able to do from the regular season to the postseason and you can kind of see
12:47it
12:47coming at the end of the regular season but it just mattered the process of what they went through
12:52and i really really really hope that going forward fans can understand like this is why you can't get
12:59too crazy about a veteran team that's been through regular seasons and or coaches that are willing
13:05and why it matters to be willing to experiment during the regular season when you have these
13:10veteran teams that are knocking on the door of a championship this stuff matters and i think it
13:15mattered a ton for the knicks um in this championship run all right next up what we got
13:21got another question from the people this is from says him uh future they passed on the future early in
13:29the draft like idiots nickels ain't nothing special i think he means tyler nickel uh spelled wrong you
13:35gotta stop and admit leon failed this offseason failed how what are you talking about why i'm not
13:42even here like being a super leon rose or putting on the cape for him here's my this comment go

13:50this here's my thing first i have to think that this person is trolling because i don't think they
14:02are i think they're serious how do you there are other people who believe this okay we knew people
14:08who thought muhammad diawara was a bad pick last year i will repeatedly say this y'all don't know we
14:14don't know maybe ty and if and if you're gonna comment and come out with your chest get the name
14:18right
14:19spell it right come on the knicks don't even know like they hope they hope like listen i i i

14:26there's always a thought that drafting is an exact science and it's not that people if drafting was
14:32an exact science jalen brunson would have got picked a lot higher than he did nicole yokich would
14:36have got picked a lot higher than yannis would not have dropped yeah to the team it's not it's not
14:40like 2k where you can just see the overall and all the things you scouted right beforehand and then
14:44yeah i know their potential is going to be at 90s oh you sound you sound like me where i'm

14:482k's 2k's just messed the game up for people just messed things up for people i i just also like
14:54just just flatly i can't say that leon rose failed in the offseason when the directive was
15:01don't go over the second apron right and you got three guys back on bargain contracts like all of
15:10whom landry shammott jose alvarado mo diawara who could have gotten more in the open market and
15:15probably would have if they actually went out and really tested that market but decided to
15:19stay for home down which was on this which was the comment the first comment we heard here which
15:24you generally don't see you know and unfortunately like the players shouldn't have to take hometown
15:29discounts because the players like we can talk about like the salary cap and the issues with that
15:34in terms of players uh making money that you know they're entitled to they should be making more
15:40than that and these players shouldn't have to take discounts if they are but it's a salary cap
15:43regardless i do think that in getting those deals like that's just good salary cap management from
15:53the entire knicks front office not just leon rose and then you have the flexibility of adding six
15:59second round picks along the way that you can then use to maybe shore up your backup center position
16:03later on or or feel like if somebody gets hurt you could potentially feel a need there like like
16:08like i it was not ideal to lose mitchell robinson but you were gonna lose somebody not even just
16:15because of the second apron but because like it's hard to bring back the entirety of a championship
16:21team across any sport the problem is in what you you just beautifully laid out and i agree with you
16:27and all the stuff you did i think leon rose i'm cook might be strong but i think he did
16:32the best that
16:33he could within the constraints that there were around him and getting the six second round picks
16:37and some people say well you didn't address the backup center in the issue i'm not i don't believe
16:42in andre drummond that's fine if you don't believe in andre drummond i don't believe in him
16:45as terms of the knicks answer as a backup center in the playoffs but for the regular season and to
16:50be
16:50fair to be fair to them too they have evidently exhausted some other avenues like they tried the
16:57musa sisse thing they've been in which is a smart offer sheet they've reportedly tried to get eve
17:01misi who's the guy that we've said it should be their top priority have assets as you just
17:07beautifully mentioned with getting the six second round picks who were smart to still address that
17:11issue yeah you need you need this answer by really february right more than right now but that's the
17:17problem that's the problem with this comment yeah right people think the answer always has to be
17:20solved right now and my thing to that is did last season not teach you anything where you're not
17:25paying attention yeah remember last year i'll say this again last year beginning in this point in
17:30offseason where we're sitting right now think back to end of july last year people ah i don't know what
17:37the knicks are going to do a backup point guard and they found the answer at the trade deadline which
17:41helped them win the championship so just calm down just calm down you don't have to have all the
17:48answers today your roster your championship roster does not have to be done on july whatever that's not
17:54how it works you literally just saw this you literally just saw this play out that's why i
18:01can't take says him seriously and that was before they won a title i just feel i feel like i
18:06don't
18:07know i thought winning a title will earn i thought so too but especially this title given this the first
18:12the first one y'all have seen in a really what are you complaining about the team hasn't seen a
18:17title
18:17in 53 years and you're out here leon rose who helped do it and you're like leon rose failed this
18:23offseason what the offseason's not even over what are you talking about yeah and i don't i don't think
18:28it's the worst thing in the world if like if you don't go back to back i don't think the

19:20while i know the point came what came across as clunky to a lot of people but he did say

19:25got clipped there was more to it than that in the segment leading up to it i and the juicy

19:30what made the rounds which tends to happen now with with clip culture so i spoke to vincent goodwill
19:35i hope he's fine with me saying this i'm not going to go too too deep into our conversation
19:40um but i spoke with vincent at the parade um when we were doing our live show uh vinnie was

19:48me doing stuff for espn and he talked about this and basically talked about how the knicks fans were
19:54on his head after this clip and they have went out they have been they have a while like not
19:58even just
19:58for that listen i think some of y'all out there take it too personal and expect reporters to do

20:31forgotten people have forgotten what reporters do and also what like analysts do um and i and i think
20:39there are people this is not specific to this comments or here special spencer 69 um but i do think
20:48that there are a lot of people who just want pundits content creators reporters analysts to basically tell
20:56them what they want to hear often yeah but you'd have talked about now now as far as the actual
21:01point of the comment i don't think that larry o'brien is a participation trophy do i and i think

21:09think viddy has even admitted even in my conversation that like yes the delivery of what he was saying
21:17could have been it was he said it was hyperbolic he was he was hyperbolic and i do think i

21:23this i think he's aware that he enjoys needling i don't think he hates the fan base we know this

21:29not true as a reporter he does not but do i think he enjoys maybe uh some of the needling

21:34yes well if they take if people continue to take the bait then yes like yeah guys will do that

21:44do i think it's convenient some people might say this brian that that comment or the talk around it
21:49came out when it's the knicks i understand where people are coming from right yeah i got that part
21:53i get the defensiveness of it um but look there are people who and i think this would even be
21:59fair to
22:00say about vinnie who do think that the league is better when there are dynasties to chase i'm not
22:06which i think is generally his point right like yeah when there's somebody to chase like when you had
22:12the warriors when you had the heatles when you had which i know that they're not like a dynasty in
22:19like the old sense where it's like you win four in a row whatever but like new age dynasties where
22:25you're dominant for like a stretch and everyone's chasing those teams and then obviously before that
22:30you had like the shack and kobe lakers and things of that nature and earlier than that you had the
22:34bulls but like i don't necessarily think either way is bad like i don't i like the parody and i
22:42also
22:43like the dynasty chasing i just think that you need enough compelling contenders so that fans buy in
22:50so that reporters media buy in like oh we actually have a slew of teams that can win the title
22:55like it
22:56got a little bit i don't know if boring is too strong of a word but it got a little
23:02bit maybe
23:02formulaic when it was just casual when it was just calves warriors and it just felt going into the
23:07season like we're gonna get calves warriors all the time yeah the raptors aren't serious maybe the
23:12rockets maybe okc maybe the spurs but for the most part we know what's gonna happen here because
23:16they're too loaded i think that's that's like a bridge too far and now this may be a bridge too

23:21for some other people where it's like all right now just anybody can win the title but i do think
23:26that's what makes it fun because i don't think the knicks except i hold on i want to stop there
23:31that see i know you're not saying that but that comment to me is ridiculous because anybody can't
23:36just win the title right like the perception the perception is i know you're not saying that but i
23:41think the thought i think the perception of that is ridiculous i do think there are more teams that
23:45can today that's that's a different but that's a much different statement saying that there are
23:50more teams that can win before right now today in this era is but here's the thing it's kind of

23:54good problem to have though but also could we also because like do we do you think it actually
23:59diminishes the champion no and i think but i think knicks fans feel like what some of the
24:04talking heads are saying is like oh because the knicks wanted it diminishes the title and i don't
24:09think you could say that about a team who did what they specifically did in the playoffs no when you
24:14have the historic dominant run that they did and you go 16 and 3 and you're the best fourth quarter
24:19if you're the best team when it matters and if you do that in the playoffs like you are a
24:24worthy
24:24champion right and my thing is like do i say the next fan is i understand where they're coming from
24:28and i actually on this comment and i said this to vinnie i understand the defense is where it is
24:36but you know what you did you know what your team did can't nobody take that away so you don't
24:40have
24:40to worry about what everybody else feels out there you know what your team did we all did we just
24:44talked about the great memories that they had here i personally there are things and i just wrote about
24:48this i don't love about with the second apron in particular yeah that i have issues with but at the
24:55same time i do think different changes there was a good we'll get back to some dynasties it'll come
25:00back around i think people are scared it's going to swing back and forth i think the thing that
25:03people got to look at is you know because sometimes people long for the old days and i'm not one
25:08of
25:08those people all the time the league is more talented than ever was it's just more talent in
25:12the league than there ever has been and so when the talent's more spread around you're and you have
25:18the apron stuff you are going to get a little bit more parity and injuries to somebody's
25:23somebody in this era is going to win back to back and start a little dance maybe maybe it's
25:29the knicks maybe not it'll happen somebody will do it somebody will do it maybe it's the knicks
25:34and if it's the knicks because it can't be anybody else right now right now right but if it is
25:38the
25:38knicks a lot of knicks fans are going to poke out their chest as they should and they're going to
25:42be
25:42like what you got to say now i mean if you thought new york was up before
25:47oh man i i hope that like if brunson listen if jalen brunson goes back to back with two finals
25:56we're gonna you thought the conversations were uncomfortable before oh my goodness i hope that
26:02happens i hope oh my god i hope i let there's gonna be people chanting participation that isaiah
26:08thomas seat is uh whoo it's gonna be interesting that's gonna be a discussion for a lot of people

26:28best things about summer league have been nickels liam robbins and akins i think this comment came
26:34okay i remember what this comment came from this came from the tyler nickel uh breakdown video i did
26:40about how um he might have earned himself at minimum a two-way contract with the knicks uh
26:49i you know we haven't talked since the summer league ryan finished because we did a couple shows
26:54during the summer league we didn't miss a lot after uh tyler nickel was impressive when he did play to
27:02me in moments there were things i did like about his game i see the vision with tyler nickel i
27:06saw it um
27:07i saw and i think people commented on one of the last shows we did where people were like
27:11pretty much like get colic up out of here now now we want the time and i'm like yo i
27:16want a new white
27:17y'all y'all gotta y'all gotta uh y'all gotta y'all gotta y'all gotta chill um
27:23although we don't know
27:25they might get colic up out of here for yeah yeah and then and then you know cahill's really the
27:29reason they wanted colic out of here excuse me nickel nickel was you know they like nickel but they
27:34were just saying i think they're talking about cahill as well too early liam robbins i know some
27:39people liked him uh i he's older than you think i don't think he's got the foot speed enough to
27:44defend in the nba um akins was fine um the biggest thing to me i thought tyler nickels tyler nickel

27:53the uh highlight to me of the summer league i thought his movement off the ball was really good
27:59yeah um if rob if robbins gets a two-way it's like you know i think that's whatever he's 27

28:11makes sense but and liam robbins did play 13 games with the bucks two years ago um four and a
28:18half
28:18minutes a game shot 25 like not much you can make they're probably just mostly garbage minutes i wasn't
28:23overly impressed you know i i thought the two rookies the two players you just drafted i thought it was
28:28about tyler nickel um and jack cahill i thought i thought they were fine they showed some stuff i'm
28:33very intrigued to see what happens with jack cahill i think the moldior didn't really show anything and
28:40then they shut him down after two games yeah which i kind of expected become dadi a oh to be
28:46fair uh
28:47dadi a showed some stuff at times yes now let me see what he does in the preseason yeah i'm
28:53not sure
28:53that fourth year is going to be as of right now i would say no yeah but which we've talked
28:59about in

29:07i thought he did some decent things defensively and then brian and i did that film breakdown we
29:10talked about his off ball movement we talked about certain things that he can do defensively he had one
29:15possession that we had highlighted where he was very active and did some really good things if he can play
29:20that level of defense and compete then i think he's definitely worthy of a two-way spot and i won't
29:26get into talking about rotation minutes i think that's down the road but tyler nickel definitely
29:30to me is the most impressive story coming out of summer league yeah because you see the vision you see
29:34the movement shooting you see how he's moving and trying to complement his point guard trying to just
29:40be a moving target for them uh trying to peel off of screens with like intent like really actually
29:46with his hands ready to shoot not just trying to float over here and just space but like you know
29:53you saw a lot of that you know doing it in training camp doing it in the regular season was
29:57different
29:57but he's absolutely worthy of a two-way spot and then you see from there like i don't know how
30:01much
30:01we'll actually hear from him this year uh barring a significant amount of injuries or fairly significant
30:07amount of injuries but i do think that if he does play at any point i'm confident like i know
30:15what he can do i know what he can be it's just a matter of is he actually going to
30:19be good enough
30:20at the nba level but you can worry about that later yeah it's a it's a good problem to have

30:36talking about diawara is that he looked at steps low on defense he doesn't grab rebounds for someone with

30:58i i thought mo diawara was disappointing in the two games that we saw from him
31:09in summer league am i gonna go crazy over it no i think you saw enough in a sample size
31:17you played
31:18what just under 70 games last year 69 games 69 started seven started seven 9.2 minutes a game
31:24he did good things as a role player i think i think we have to take an account which you'd
31:30want to see
31:30but it's just not his game right now he was asked to be a number one option on the summer
31:35league team
31:35with dudes he has not played with before like that we have to take that into account this dudes have
31:39not played at this level mostly right and so i take all that account in summer league and so as
31:45much
31:45as i said i like things i saw from tyler nickel you know and that's fine and well you still
31:50have to
31:50take things with a grain of salt mo diawara has been playing as a complimentary player that's what he
31:54will do in the nba we've seen him do it already as a rookie in nba yeah teams are going
31:58to key in on
31:59him more next year and he's going to have to make that adjustment but defense wasn't actually a
32:05problem for me watching the summer league it was offense and his ball handling you know in our film
32:09breakdown we showed you know he had some issues with turnovers um what what do you think about
32:14because josh mentions the athleticism here i i've never looked at him as like a a plus athlete i'm
32:22not saying that josh is saying that but i've never i've never thought of him as that type of
32:26athlete i've thought of him more as like a a three-point shooter potential shot creator because
32:31he could do some things with the ball uh we think the handle obviously needs to get tighter as you
32:35mentioned i i don't think of him as like a jumping out the gym type of that if that were
32:41the case he
32:42wouldn't have been picked where he was probably yeah also i think a lot of people you know this but
32:46a lot of people know me is i think generally speaking there is a people of a certain era love
32:55athleticism in a way in the nba that i do not or i don't think same i don't think it
32:59matters as much
33:00you're going somewhere else i don't think it matters as much anymore yeah right so what i look for with
33:06mo diawara particularly when he's playing at the nba level which is what we saw last year it's funny
33:12he said he looks up stolen defense i thought his defense last year was really good i thought he
33:16always looked like but during summer league summer league yeah okay fine i've seen enough tape with
33:22this dude in nba action against higher level nba you'll go off the nba tape i'm going off the nba
33:28tape that's going to count more way more for me and i think he plays well off of better players
33:33and i think as he gets more comfortable and is adjusting and he adds a little to his game and
33:37his handle i don't think you have to be a crazy athlete because i would ask fans like okay on
33:42the
33:42knicks who's the like on this knicks roster who's a crazy athlete on this roster
33:47i think og's the best athlete on the team but okay he's not do you think mohammed diawara
33:52could be in that og athletic range the kind of athletic range you're talking about i mean we
33:59think there are some other things if we probably should prioritize before we get to that point
34:04oh you're talking about with with mo diawara yes yeah i i agree i i care more about can you
34:10actually potentially lead a second unit not even that can you just make an nba rotation because i
34:16i think i think i come away from summer league being like okay he's really gonna have to because
34:21i probably was like all right yeah he's definitely gonna just be in the rotation next year and now
34:27while i think that may still be the case but i do think there's gonna be a competition there
34:31because if i'm mike brown i'm like okay like you have to beat out pocom daddy and pocom daddy you
34:37have
34:37to beat out because you're both playing for basically but that's a good problem like you
34:40both have contracts but you're both also playing for your nba livelihoods like mo diawara's contract
34:45is not long term neither is daddy's at this point daddy has two years left and it really might be
34:49one
34:49and then with mo diawara he signed a short-term team-friendly deal only the first two years are
34:56guaranteed only the first two years are guaranteed so like yeah like you guys are probably competing to
35:02be like one of the main backup i guess the backup wing on this team because if you look at
35:07the
35:07roster construction andre drummond and then you're playing three of the the guards with
35:12shamit alvarado and deuce deuce not to mention you still have jordan clarkson there you still have
35:19tyler colic there so like yeah like that whatever spot it's going to be nine ten eight whatever it
35:25ends up being dottie and mo diawara have to fight for that yeah by the way by the way like
35:32tyler nickel could fight for that too to be honest hey these are good championship problems to have
35:40because all i'm great problems that what i'm what i want competition in training what i'd say with
35:44diawara i think especially with young players the thing for me is again i'm gonna go off the nba tape

35:49saw on him um i thought his rebounds per what do you grab rebounds per game was it about three
35:54a game
35:54he grabbed uh 1.4 but per 36 per 36 he was 14 5 and 3 okay i think the
36:02scoring could get better
36:03there i mean from the field he wasn't great because he was streaky streaky but he a lot of but
36:08to be
36:08fair to him a lot of what he shot were three pointers like the bulk of what he shot yeah
36:13and he
36:13shot 130 of his 213 field goal attempts were from three and he hit 37 of them which is good
36:19you'll
36:19sign for that now people are going to some of them off the dribble people are going to close out
36:23harder on him this year and he's going to have to either put the ball on the floor make a
36:28decision
36:28make the right read that's going to be the thing i'm watching the most come preseason and that like
36:33i think also like let's let his development come along fine he had a good year one let's see how
36:39he counters in year two i'm not i didn't like what we saw from him in summer league am i
36:43worried no
36:44like he'll turn 22 yeah in the first round of next year's playoffs yeah let's we we can we can
36:51maybe second round actually let the kid develop i think he's fine i don't think he needs to be the
36:55jump out the gym athlete that maybe some people want him to be no but thank you bro josh we

45:40like you're enjoying it in the moment but because you're working that they had to go back and really
45:46watch and appreciate these moments again because they just you know i get it you're in it you're covering
45:50it but sometimes you really have to go back and watch these games to really appreciate it and really
45:56take yourself back i re-watched the the mitchell robinson dyson daniels fight um recently and within
46:03the last week or so and i remember looking at the score as it was happening and i was like
46:07damn i forgot
46:08i can't believe a fight happened now why did it happen then we were doing the i think it was
46:12us and
46:13we were doing the watch along and i just i just it just took me back to like wow yeah
46:18it was 72 to 22
46:20like early in the game look nice and daniels tried to fight it out like yo get me out of

48:50to enjoy what's going on enjoy the beauty it's beautiful new york is beautiful this summer right
