00:02Let's bring in ABC National political lead, David Spears, who's in Adelaide.
00:06David, is Labor now treating One Nation as its main opposition?
00:12Jeremy, from the Prime Minister down, it's been clear in the various speeches and contributions
00:17here at the conference that One Nation is now being treated by Labor as a more serious
00:21threat than the Coalition.
00:23And the view is One Nation may slip in the polls from where they are right now, but won't
00:27fall back to where they once were.
00:29This is seen as a more permanent realignment in the political landscape.
00:32And there's broad agreement here amongst Labor that the best antidote to this rising populism
00:37is squarely addressing the needs of frustrated workers.
00:40And that was the aim of the Prime Minister's announcements he made here today.
00:44One involving more government spending to deal with cost of living pressures for allied health
00:48workers.
00:49And the other, this new court to settle workplace disputes, even though the details are really
00:53yet to be worked out.
00:54On the floor of the conference, there's a determined effort to demonstrate that Labor's
00:58a sensible party of government and is united.
01:01So policy arguments are happening, but only behind closed doors, not in front of the cameras.
01:06And so far, those disagreements that are being settled are being done so in the Prime Minister's
01:11favour.
