00:00After many days of terrible air quality and very thick smoke across parts of the Midwest, the Great Lakes and
00:07the Northeast, similar to what we saw three years ago back in June of 2023, it was back, but now
00:12it's gone.
00:13We've seen significant rain. Many areas in northern Minnesota and up into western Ontario that have seen some of the
00:18most widespread fire activity have picked up a good inch and a half or more of rain over the past
00:24several days, and that has really slowed the spread of those fires.
00:28They're producing way less smoke, and the winds have shifted as well, dispersing some of the smoke. Rain has helped
00:33to kind of rinse out the atmosphere as well, so we're seeing big improvements.
00:37Are we done with the smoke? Not necessarily. Later this summer, there may be drier spells that bring more fire
00:43activity again to Canada, and we will still be downstream of that, at least with certain weather patterns, so we're
00:48not necessarily done with the long-term smoke and haze.
