00:05Hello and welcome. If you're just tuning in, it's been a Tuesday of protests on three fronts
00:12in the national capital. As we speak, the Congress party is protesting right at the
00:18doorstep of the prime minister outside his residence. We have the youth protests happening
00:24at Jantar Mantar. It's day two of that. And also protests happening at the gates literally
00:32of Delhi, which is the border of Delhi, where the farmers are protesting. Three different categories,
00:38youth, farmers and opposition, all now demanding answers of the government on different fronts.
00:45Like I said, it's been a Tuesday which has been filled with turmoil, filled with anger and protest.
00:51Let me cut across to the one that is unfolding as we speak. Let's cut across to what's been
00:56happening right across and outside prime minister's residence. Now, in an absolute surprise move by
01:02the opposition, the Congress party landed up at the prime minister's doorstep at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg,
01:09right at the gate there, without telling the media, without telling anyone in a surprise move.
01:15And we have Congress party there, along with their leaders, protesting, sitting on a dharma,
01:21and having these, you know, these wires put across their hands as a way of saying that they have
01:29also been handcuffed along with the students and youth of the country. Now, as we speak, you see
01:35Jitendra Singh also over there, the MOS in the prime minister's office. So what is he doing there?
01:42Right as the protest was unfolding, about 15-20 minutes into that, you had the representation
01:50from the government reach in. Nobody less than Jitendra Singh himself came in. And as we speak,
01:57negotiation is still going on. He's there trying to reason out with Rahul Gandhi that you're standing
02:02at the doorstep of the prime minister and let's try to vacate this high security zone.
02:08But now we are told that the Congress party has put out five demands and without which they refuse
02:17to leave the place, leave the dharna and the symbolic protest that they have going outside
02:23the prime minister's residence. Let me put out those five demands for you. Number one,
02:28they say the HRD minister must resign. This is a demand that is echoing what the youth has also been
02:34saying, asking for the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan. This is leaked to the entire need scandal
02:42and what led to the protest, the violent protest that we saw that became faceless yesterday on the
02:47streets of the national capital. So that's demand number one. Demand number two, they want the home
02:54minister to give a statement on the floor of the house on what happened. I believe this has got to

03:00with the brutality that was faced on both sides. You've got testimonies of injured protesters,
03:07testimonies of injured policemen as well. So the high handedness or the heavy handedness of the
03:14police is what the Congress party is raising and demanding a statement by home minister on the floor
03:21of the house. Remember, parliament is in session. Talking about parliament in session, there is demand
03:26number three, which talks about discussion in the house. Now, what exactly does this mean? We'll have
03:32to get more details on that. I believe the discussion in the house has got to do with the need
03:37paper leak
03:38as well. Then comes in demand number four, students who've been, issues should be heard as well. So
03:45getting a word across from the youth who has been protesting, getting that word across. And number five
03:52demand coming in from the Congress party is an inquiry into yesterday's violence. So the
03:59Kokrojanta party, the CJP had given the government three demands. The Congress party has given the
04:06government five demands. I already see a match of one demand in both. Both are demanding the
04:13resignation of the education minister, Dharmendra Pradhan. Let me cut across to Piyush, who's getting
04:19us all these updates over there. Piyush, the Congress party has put out its five demands
04:24in front of the government. As we speak, is Jitendra Singh still there? Is Rahul Gandhi and
04:30him both in a conversation still? I believe it's been about more than 15 minutes of them
04:36actually negotiating and trying to work a way out of this.
04:45Well, that's right. The Congress party has now decided Sonal to ensure that the actions are taken.
04:50Heads are rolled. Resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan has happened. That's what the Congress party is now
04:57demanding. And my colleague Rahul Gautam also spoke to a few Congress leaders. And the situation here
05:02is now spiralling out. And this could certainly go out of the hand if this situation continues,
05:08if this protest continues. Why? Because this is a very sensitive area. This is the area which not
05:12only houses the Prime Minister's residents, but also high-profile embassies of big countries.
05:18This area also connects Shantipat. But Rahul Gandhi, who just spoke to a few Congress leaders,
05:23let's try to get in a word from Rahul Gautam. Beg your pardon. Rahul, you had a word with Congress
05:28leaders. Rahul Gandhi is sitting here with a lot of MPs here. We can also see a few workers of

05:39party and for how long this protest will continue? Well, as we speak, the dialogue which was started
05:46by Mr. Jitinder Singh with Congress party has remained inconclusive. And the Congress leaders
05:54are saying that they will not be budging from here. They will be staying here, staying put
05:58here. Even if it takes whole night, they are going to stay here. And primarily, there are
06:04four demands that they are putting forward. A, there is no negotiation possible as far as
06:12Education Minister's resignation is concerned. They are saying that Education Minister must step
06:17down. Second, they want that there should be a time-bound inquiry into police action that
06:22happened yesterday against students. Third, they want that Home Minister should come inside
06:28house and should make a statement. And fourth, they want all these student issues should be
06:33discussed in the house. They should be heard patiently. Now, primarily, these are four demands
06:38that they are seeking from the government. I spoke with many leaders. They are saying that
06:44Dr. Jitinder Singh came here only to request that this place should be vacated, as you were mentioning,
06:50that it's a high security area. You know, there's a high threat perception. And therefore,
06:54in fact, these are MPs. They themselves are, you know, are high profile people. So therefore,
07:01at least this area should be cleared off. But Congress is...
07:04Rahul and Piyush, I'm interrupting because we've got more breaking news coming in. So a quick update
07:08for our viewers. We were showing you pictures. We still continue to show you pictures of how
07:12MOS in Prime Minister's office, Jitinder Singh, had reached the protest site where Rahul Gandhi,
07:19along with other Congress leaders, was there in a sit-in dharma, a surprise sit-in dharma.
07:24We are now told that after having spoken with Rahul Gandhi and taken his five, you know,
07:30pointed demands that we just showed you, he has left to meet Home Minister Amit Shah.
07:35So Jitinder Singh now, being the mediator, taking the demands of the opposition, going
07:42to Home Minister Amit Shah's residence to discuss what really is to happen next. All this while,
07:48it's been over an hour, I can tell you. Around quarter to four is when we got the first visuals
07:53of the protest from outside Prime Minister's office. So it's been a little over an hour and a half
07:59that we've got this protest going at outside Prime Minister's residence. Piyush is back with us for
08:06more details on this. I believe Moshmi, my colleague, is also over there. So Piyush,
08:11the job that was done by JP Nadda yesterday to negotiate between the CJP and the government is
08:18being assigned to Jitinder Singh, who's trying to now negotiate between the opposition and the Home
08:24Minister. Yesterday, there were three demands. Now the opposition has five demands.
08:28The government, it's interesting to see how both these demands have one overlap, which is the
08:35resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan. How exactly is the government perceiving this? Give us a sense of
08:41what's going on in the back channels within the government. How are they perceiving all these
08:46demands and the unrelenting pressure that seems to be building up?
08:56Well, Sonal, the government has made it very, very clear that its doors are open. Government wants to
09:01have talks. It wants to initiate dialogue with not only the protesters, but also with the Congress leaders,
09:08not only with the Congress leaders, but also with the entire opposition. And that's why today, when we spoke
09:13to the Union Parliamentary of its Minister, he made it very, very clear that our floor is open. Opposition
09:20must come and have a discussion in Lok Sabha. But what we are now witnessing is continuous ruckas in Lok
09:25Sabha and
09:26Al Sabha. Whenever we have seen a parliament being resumed, opposition continues to raise slogan. They demand that
09:32first, the government must sack Dharmendra Pradhan and then only they are going to further, you know,

11:27Moshmi to try and get more details here. Moshmi, Rahul Gandhi is taking it to another level. He's saying
11:32it's not just me and the Congress party at the dharna. He's inviting now other people as well.
11:38So far, we've not seen any police action. Deployment, yes, but not action against him. But, you know,
11:45after a call like that, that situation could change dramatically.
11:54Alright, we'll just connect with Moshmi, who's also at the site of that protest. In fact,
11:58to give you a glimpse of what really is unfolding. Okay, we have Moshmi back. Moshmi,
12:04I was trying to understand from you. Rahul Gandhi now asking all conscientious people,
12:09including the youth and parents of the country, to join him at the protest at Prime Minister's
12:14residence. This at a time when Delhi is already a fortress right now. There's a protest happening
12:20at Jantar Mantar. There's a protest happening at the borders of Delhi by the farmers and now a
12:25protest over here. This is a nightmare of a situation for anyone handling law and order in
12:31the national capital.
12:40Absolutely, Sonal. If you look at it from the law and order perspective, it is a complete nightmare.
12:47Yesterday, we saw the security and the protesters going absolutely helter-skelter and the Delhi
12:55police and paramilitary really jostling. And then the next day, as there was a complete lull
13:01till the afternoon, nobody knew that this storm right behind me was brewing. And the storm
13:07is that rarely do you see, I haven't seen for a long time, a protest of this sort at the
13:14Prime
13:14Minister's residence. In fact, it is the very first time in the tenure of the Modi government
13:20since 2014 that the opposition has squatted outside the entrance of the Prime Minister like
13:29this. And two LOPs, the Congress party, the entire MP brigade is right here. Saptigari Ulaka is here,
13:37who's an MP from Urissa. And we'll take a quick reaction from him. Dr. Jitendra Singh apparently couldn't break the
13:44ice. He said that we were ready for a discussion. But you were adamant about the resignation of the education
13:50minister. I am told this protest is going into the night.
13:56Definitely it's going into the night. Our main demand has been the resignation of education
13:59minister in Darbinder Pradhan. We want a discussion on this paper leg issue in the parliament. We want a statement
14:05by Home Minister Amishya on the floor of the house, on the lati chaat that happened yesterday, on the innocent
14:09students.
14:10We want compensation to the students to be given. And we want a proper investigation by the police on the
14:15lati chaat that has done to the students yesterday. This is a very fair and simple demand. We've been
14:19fighting for this for over months now, through Chhatra Egoon, through Youth Congress, NUSA and everything. Yesterday, thousands of hundreds
14:26of thousands of young students, they congregated in the state
14:29capital to meet the prime minister and tell them the pain. What is the harm in listening to them? Instead
14:33of that, they've been throwing, doing lati charges, firing tear gas shells and all those things.
14:39I'm really interested in knowing, when did you really come to know that you have to come to the prime
14:44minister's residence? Because I do believe you were all called to Kargeji's residence for a celebration of his birthday or
14:52on the occasion of his birthday. So when did the MPs come to know about it?
14:56See, we were aware of this, but a sudden moment, the walk to the prime minister's house was decided at
15:02Kargeji's residence. And we all spontaneously agreed and we marched to it.
15:06Who mooted that idea?
15:07The leadership, definitely the leadership of the Congress President.
15:10Was it Rahul Gandhi or the Congress President who said, we must go there? I did speak to Mr. Kargeji
15:15in the morning and he said, I don't want to celebrate my birthday over what's happened yesterday. So was there
15:22a sudden think or was it Rahul Gandhi?
15:26Definitely, it must be Rahul Gandhi ji and Priyanka Gandhi ji along with Kargeji. But it was there.
15:31You weren't there, right, at that time when it was decided?
15:33No, they called us to celebrate Kargeji's birthday, but surprisingly when he announced on Twitter that he's not going to
15:38celebrate, we still weren't there.
15:40I was wondering that when he's not celebrating, why is he calling us?
15:43So we knew that we are up to some protests, but this is a very good protest that we are
15:47doing. This is the first time that the Minister of State and the Modi government, they have come to negotiation
15:51with us. This is the first step and I'm sure, like they will agree to all the demand.
15:56Moshami, all the Congress MPs over there have this string that they are holding. I saw Rahul Gandhi also distribute

28:32Remember, there's D.K. Shif Kumar and V.D. Satishan, two chief ministers, perhaps more will trickle in the Himachal
28:39CM or the Tilangana CM.
28:41So this is a show of strength. But what we are seeing is interesting that Rahul Gandhi, you know, taking
28:48his adamance to the streets right there.
28:53In the morning today when we spoke to him, he said, when I asked the speaker that can we have
29:00a discussion on this entire issue, he said, I will ask the government.
29:04And he said, I was pretty surprised that the speaker needs to ask the government.
29:07So behind me, and I'm sorry that we can't go any further because the network would completely collapse.
29:13You understand, there are jammers in place, the network near the vicinity of Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi are sitting.
29:21I can show you the geography of it all. If you look at the entire visuals that are unfolding, look
29:27at the prime minister's security.
29:29They are in those black uniform right there in that porch in the middle.

30:16Piyush is any closer to tell us what exactly is unfolding.
30:19For those who are just joining in, let me give you a sense.
30:23Around quarter to four this evening, we saw a surprise protest by Congress party leadership outside, right at the gate
30:32of prime minister's residence.
30:33This is a very high security zone. Let me tell you, not reporters, not a single car can actually park
30:40themselves for a very long time.
30:41So, this is an absolute surprise that got through in.
30:44Then, between 15 minutes, just at that point is when we saw government intervene.
30:49They came in for a conversation. Rahul Gandhi gave them five demands.
30:52He took those demands to the home minister and now he's back.
30:55Let me cut across to my colleague, Maria Shakir, now joining us.
30:58Any sense of how the government is looking at this and how they plan to respond to these five demands
31:04by the Congress party?
31:06Well, we have to get clarity on that, Sonal.
31:10But the fact that there is a second round of meeting which is happening between MOS Jitendra Singh and Rahul
31:18Gandhi becomes important
31:19because right now he is communicating and carrying the message that has been told to him by union home minister.
31:27Remember, soon after meeting Rahul Gandhi for roughly around 15 minutes, he went to meet the union home minister
31:33with all the demands that has been told by Rahul Gandhi, which also includes a discussion that the Congress warns
31:39inside parliament
31:39on paper leak, the larger issue.
31:42Perhaps the government would be agreeing to that.
31:44You know, the government doesn't really disagree with as far as discussion on the floor of the parliament is concerned.
31:49The Business Advisory Committee could allocate time on that discussion as well.
31:53But we have to get clarity as to what is Mr. Jitendra Singh communicating to Rahul Gandhi even as we
31:59speak.
31:59Because it's almost like two hours now, Sonal, that Rahul Gandhi and Congress MPs are continuing to sit outside 7LKM.
32:08Remember, this Prime Minister Modi is an SPG protectee.
32:12He's the only one in the country who is an SPG protectee.
32:15And hence, this entire area is governed by the Blue Book.
32:18That's why you saw, along with MOS Home, there was Union Home Secretary, Mr. Mohan,
32:25who accompanied Jitendra Singh to communicate to Rahul Gandhi as to the significance of that particular area
32:31where this protest was sit-in by the Congress Party is happening.
32:34But Mariah, that message hasn't gone across because Rahul Gandhi has just tweeted
32:38and he's asking more people to join him right there.
32:41It's a security nightmare for a Delhi police which is already facing a lot of questions.
32:47And today, if you notice, there has been a change in stance of the Delhi police itself.
32:52You know, yesterday we saw a lot of heavy-handedness.
32:54Today, we are seeing police stand-by but no action being taken.
32:58Our colleague, you know, Arvind Doja is saying there is enough police to evacuate
33:02but they are not doing it just yet.
33:04Yes, there has to be caution here, Sonal.
33:07That is what we are seeing right now.
33:09You know, of course, no permission was taken for this kind of gathering.
33:13During Parliament, the entire, you know, Lutians is, Section 144 is in place
33:19which essentially means an assembly of over four to five is not allowed.
33:23But here are top leaders of opposition who are present.
33:27What is now interestingly playing out is division in the opposition rank
33:32with now the Ahmadineh Party alleging that how has Rahul Gandhi been allowed
33:37to carry on with these protests?
33:40Atishi and Sanjay Singh, both of them have put out detailed tweets, Sonal,
33:44where they are questioning as to is there some kind of jugalbandi
33:48between the Congress and the BJP because Rahul Gandhi's protest in front of
33:53the Prime Minister's official residence.
33:55According to the Ahmadineh Party leaders has hijacked and taken the entire attention
34:01away from the Cockroach Janta Party protest, which is happening very close to where this protest is happening.
34:07In fact, to quote Atishi over there of the Ahmadineh Party, she's saying,
34:10CJP and Sonam Bangchuk, one month of protest at Jantar Mantar, Modi government refused to talk to them.
34:15But Rahul Gandhi has been allowed, according to her, to protest outside Prime Minister's residence
34:20for one hour and Modi government starts dialogue.
