The opposition INDIA bloc and the Congress party have intensified their agitational programmes, calling for a protest march of opposition Members of Parliament to the Election Commission of India at Nirvachan Sadan over allegations of vote chori. The march has been planned from Makardhwaj inside Parliament House towards the poll panel's office. Congress party leadership, including state unit presidents and party in-charges, convened high-level meetings to coordinate strategies for demonstrations scheduled for 6 October and 8 October. The move follows days of demonstrations across cities by student organisations and political outfits, leading to numerous detentions by the Delhi Police. With Congress frontal bodies such as the Youth Congress and National Students' Union of India mobilised across different locations, party leaders have instructed cadre to amplify protests and convert the stir into a nationwide movement demanding accountability from the poll body.

00:00We're now getting reports that the India Bloc meeting to organize a protest march of all opposition MPs on Tuesday,
00:06that is tomorrow, October 6th at 10.30 from Makar Dwaran Parliament House to the Office of the Election Commission
00:14of India, Nirvachan Bhawan.
00:16Nirvachan Southern, in fact, has been called.
00:19And on the issue, it is vote chori and the recent revelations regarding this EC.
00:24The Congress held major meetings and has adopted aggressive stance.
00:29Leaders from all state units, state presidents, party in charges will be present.
00:35And we are told that strategies regarding the planned gherao of the Election Commission on 6th of October are being
00:42discussed.
00:43Delibrations are also underway concerning the preparations for the march that is scheduled on the 8th of October and strategies
00:53to bring alliance partners on board there as well.
00:56The Congress aims to unite opposition parties around the Election Commission issue and transform this protest into a mass movement.
01:04So as we speak, that all-important meeting is going on and tomorrow's protest details are being looked into.
01:13My colleague Himanshu joins us for more details on this story.
01:17Himanshu, tell us what exactly are the preparations.
01:30We've had a weekend of protests.
01:33We've had left parties.
01:35We've had student unions.
01:36We've had the Kokro Janta Party in different cities across the country hold protests.
01:41And now the Congress Party also jumping in.
01:44If the Delhi preparations are anything to go by, the police is not letting people go beyond a particular point.
01:50So my first question is, do they have the permission to protest?
01:56See, the parliamentarians would be protesting as on the Makar Dwar.
02:03Now all MPs have permission to go to the Makar Dwar.
02:07Mr. Kargi has told all the Congress MPs to assemble there about at 10.30 a.m.
02:14And of course all the India Bloc MPs would also be present there, Sonal.
02:20And we'll see that they will be apparently going towards Vijay Chowk or perhaps from the other gate towards the
02:27election commission.
02:29Because through the transport bar on the back gate, the election commission is just 500 meters away from the parliament.
02:37So that, and we've seen protests erupt earlier on that stretch.
02:42We'll have to wait and see whether the cops can really allow them to cross that threshold.
02:48But it's going to be a lot of protest, dharma and slogan hearing is what the opposition is gearing upon.
02:56I would request the output in fact to patch me.
03:00If you can see me, I'm standing in front of the camera on live.
03:04So we could in fact have a conversation one on one.
03:10We've got you on live.
03:11How quick the output really responds, Mossmi, to everything that you're saying and how we're listening as well.
03:17Perhaps, so take me through, take me through what exactly is the plan.
03:21Like I said, Delhi police has had enough.
03:22The past three days there has been constant protest and protest.
03:26There have been detentions.
03:27Over 1100 on Friday, several hundred over the weekend as well.
03:31Now, tomorrow, when the MPs jump in, when leaders of other political parties jump in,
03:37and this time it's not a surprise, one outside Prime Minister's house.
03:40This is a planned one for which you need permission, for which you need to ensure that safety is, you
03:46know, kept in mind as well.
03:48What exactly is the strategy?
03:49Are we hearing that they will be allowed to protest and for how long?
03:58So we are right here at Indra Bhavan, and you can see that, you know, there's a flurry of activities,
04:04a lot of netas going in and out.
04:07Now, that is the buzz, or you can say the lull,
04:09before the opposition actually plans that entire political storm tomorrow,
04:15because all the in-charges, the precedents of all the state units are right here with the top brass.
04:23They are being given directives of what's going to happen on October 8th,
04:27how you're going to be a cohesive lot on October 6th,
04:31and that is the strategy that is being planned by the Congress.
04:35Now, remember, earlier the Congress was questioned over whether they're really on the streets.
04:41This time around, it's not just been random, sporadic.
04:45It's been a very planned carpet bombing by the Congress leadership of its youth unit,
04:53the youth Congress, the NSU, I've heard it yesterday, day before,
04:57every hour, every morning, evening, night, we are seeing sporadic protests by these outfits,
05:04these frontal organizations of the Congress.
05:06They don't want to, you know, give that leeway, that it's not,
05:12the Congress is not on the streets,
05:14and that's been a lot of pulling up by the top brass,
05:18specifically Rahul Gandhi, Mr. Kargay,
05:21saying that you have to amplify what we've been saying.
05:25Priyanka Gandhi had specifically said,
05:27Congress kisi ke sahare nahi hai.
05:30That is the, that was in the backdrop of leaders raking up the CJP protests,
05:37whether we need to align with them and stand with them.
05:40Then Priyanka Gandhi said that Rahul Gandhi raked up the vote chori thing,
05:44where nobody did.
05:46So now this meeting is actually a precursor to what's going to follow tomorrow.
05:51At 10.30 a.m. in the parliament,
05:54the parliament is not in session,
05:56but we'll see a full house of the India bloc tomorrow.
05:58So Akhle Shiyadav, the TMC leaders,
06:03Supriya Sule, Mr. Kargay, Mr. Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi,
06:08all these leaders will be there marching towards the EC.
06:12There's an EC girao.
06:14And remember, it has happened in the past,
06:16when you saw Akhle Shiyadav jumping the barricade,
06:19if you remember, a few MPs had fainted,
06:23they were detained in buses.
06:24So perhaps those scenes could perhaps unfold or replay again tomorrow.
06:30All right.
06:31So a couple of interesting days ahead of protests
06:34and a lot of bandubast, as they say,
06:36to be done by the Delhi police in the days ahead.
06:39Like Maasami was pointing out on the 6th,
06:41on the 8th and then on the 10th.
06:42That's the protest that has been called in on the 10th by the CJP.
06:45There are going to be successive, you know,
06:48protests every day demanding the resignation of CEC.
06:51Let's see where this really goes at the moment.
06:54The momentum for his ouster is only building up.
