A major search operation is underway after the passenger ferry MV Barima capsized off the coast of Guyana, leaving at least 27 people dead and 83 still missing. Authorities say 69 passengers have been rescued as divers and emergency teams continue searching the waters for survivors. Officials have launched an investigation into the tragedy after the ferry was found to be carrying more people than officially registered. The transport minister also revealed that the captain and a crew member tested positive for cannabis and have been taken into police custody. Survivors described chaotic scenes as the vessel rapidly filled with water.
