Heavy rain and powerful thunderstorms swept across New York City, New Jersey, and parts of Connecticut, triggering flash floods that submerged roads, flooded subway stations, and disrupted daily life across the Tri-State area. Videos shared online showed residents wading through knee-deep water, stranded vehicles surrounded by floodwaters, and emergency crews carrying out multiple rescues. The severe weather also caused major travel disruptions, with numerous flights delayed or cancelled ahead of the FIFA World Cup final in New Jersey. Sporting events were also affected, including the scheduled Yankees-Dodgers baseball game in the Bronx, which was postponed as relentless rainfall continued across the region.
