01:17The Government of Venezuela released an updated official report detailing the figures on the damage, losses and measures taken after
01:24the earthquakes that struck on June 24.
01:26According to the official report released on July 16, 2026, the death toll has risen to 4,930, while the
01:33number of injured remains at 16,740.
01:36Authorities also reported that 6,462 people have been rescued and the report indicates that 128,324 families have received
01:49assistance and 21,210 people are in temporary camps, while 17,907 families have lost their homes.
01:58In addition, 856 buildings have been damaged and 190 have collapsed.
02:04Relief efforts have included the distribution of 10,063 tons of food and 26,738,575 liters of water, while
02:1735,781 people have received medical treatment.
02:20A total of 2,278 international rescue workers are assisting the country, alongside 30,989 deployed personnel and 31,745
02:32volunteers.
02:33Finally, authorities also reported the establishment of 107 temporary camps and the recording of 1,308 aftershocks.
02:49The Venezuela's Acting President and Delce Rodriguez met with the UNESCO Regional Director and the Minister to discuss cooperation in
02:56education, culture, science and heritage protection.
02:58Following the earthquakes that struck the South American nation on June 24, UNESCO's Regional Office established a technical cooperation roadmap
03:06to address strategic areas jointly based on the principles of respect for national sovereignty and Venezuelan legislation.
03:14Key elements include an emergency plan to ensure educational continuity and the reconstruction of schools.
03:20On Monday, Le Maestro arrived in Venezuela to meet with national government authorities in the private sector and civil society
03:28representatives to carry out an extensive work agenda.
03:38The El Ávila temporary camp located at the Hotel Ávila in the San Bernardino Parish is currently housed in 64
03:45affected families by the June 24 earthquakes.
03:4761 of these families are from La Guayre State and 3 are from Caracas.
03:52The hotel has been converted into a temporary camp that offers accommodations, food, medical care and psychological support to earthquake
04:00-affected individuals.
04:01As part of the Venezuela Rises Plan, the Bolivarian government is preparing additional spaces to provide comprehensive assistance to affected
04:08families while conducting assessments of damaged homes.
04:19In memory of the twin earthquakes that struck Venezuela on June 24, fishermen from La Sorra Port in La Guayre
04:26held a special mass for the Feast of the Virgin of Carmen.
04:29The commemoration took on a solemn tone of mourning as the earthquake severely affected the area by displacing sediments and
04:37blocking maritime access, which brought fishing activities to a halt.
04:41Despite the damage, clean-up efforts are on the way and fishing operations are expected to resume on Monday.
04:47The fishing community remains steadfast in its faith and commitment to the sea while honoring those who lost their lives
04:54and hoping to restore their daily livelihoods.
05:04In an interview with Spanish journalist, Javier Negre, Venezuela's acting president, Elsie Rodriguez pointed to the country's historical process of
05:12self-determination.
05:14Rodriguez emphasized that national sovereignty and territorial integrity remain fundamental principles that define the nation's political identity.
05:22Our history tells the story of the struggle for independence, more than two centuries of independence and sovereignty.
05:29The Venezuelan people are deeply attached to their history.
05:33Because for every square meter of our territory you visit, there is a story to tell about our battles for
05:39independence,
05:41about the campaigns to achieve independence, and the Venezuelan people will always defend their independence, their territorial integrity, and Venezuela
05:51as a whole.
05:52Because it's not just about a territory, it's about the identity and history of a country.
05:59The acting president also outlined a model where economic growth is directly tied to social investment,
06:05arguing that indicators must translate into reduced inequality and better wages for the working class.
06:13It's a necessary investment, because workers' rights should be our guiding principle.
06:20And from there, we'll begin to restore Venezuela's welfare state, ensuring that these investments reach everyone, men and women alike.
06:30They must reach all social strata.
06:34Economic growth is useless if it leads to inequality and poverty.
06:38That economic growth has to reach everyone, not just the elite at the top.
06:43It has to trickle down to the grassroots.
06:45And those grassroots should be workers who feel truly happy and satisfied with the fruits their own country is yielding.
06:53The acting head of state outlined the scope of the national amnesty process, presenting it as an essential step toward
07:00political coexistence,
07:01and as a means of ensuring a long-term framework for social peace with nearly 9,000 people benefiting from
07:07it.
07:10We were able to achieve these extraordinary results.
07:14What do these numbers show? What do they tell us?
07:18They speak to the country's strong will to take a different path,
07:22to bring about the changes Venezuela needs, changes in the criminal justice system.
07:29But not only for those who were involved in political violence or who, as members of political sectors,
07:35were victims of state abuses and its judicial processes,
07:41but also for the citizens, men and women, who are deprived of their liberty and whom I have described as
07:47being subject to the criminalization of poverty.
07:51All these aspects are currently being addressed in a national consultation on criminal justice reform.

08:32The United States government has announced it will impose 25% tariffs on a list of goods imported from Brazil.
08:38The move came eight months after the Trump administration canceled its previous 40% tariff on Brazilian goods.
08:45In Brazil, our correspondent Brian Mir has more details.
08:49On July 15th, the U.S. government announced it will impose a 25% tariff on imports for a series
08:56of goods from Brazil.
08:58Since when the Trump administration levied high tariffs on Brazil in 2025, it ended up hurting U.S. consumers.
09:04Many view the move as political jockeying to support the candidacy of Senator Flavio Bolsonaro for the presidency this year.
09:12Brazil has a trade deficit with the United States.
09:16Our relationship is complementary for both sides in terms of capital and importance.
09:24Consider this. Of the 13 largest products that will be affected by the tariffs,
09:29Brazil is the main supplier to the U.S. for 11 of them.
09:33This means that this will also affect U.S. financial interests.
09:37On May 26th, Flavio Bolsonaro flew to Washington and met with President Trump.
09:42On June 2nd, President Trump shared photos of himself with Flavio and Eduardo Bolsonaro on social media,
09:49then announced plans for new tariffs on Brazil.
09:51Since Trump demanded freedom for Jair Bolsonaro as a condition for removing his failed 2025 tariffs,
09:58most of the Brazilian public immediately blamed the Bolsonaros.
10:03One more attack against Brazil promoted by the Trump administration and organized by Flavio and Eduardo Bolsonaro.
10:14The United States has confirmed a 25% tariff on Brazilian products.
10:23Flavio and Eduardo Bolsonaro are working against the interests of Brazil as veritable bootlickers of Donald Trump.
10:31If the Trump administration believes that supporters of President Lula will switch sides in this year's elections
10:36in hope that a Bolsonaro victory will mean an end to tariffs,
10:40so far there isn't much indication that they will make much of a difference.
10:48Regarding the U.S.'s intentions, I don't have a shadow of a doubt that this is an attempt to interfere
10:52in Brazil's elections,
10:53but I think it will backfire. As the saying goes, it shot itself in the foot.
11:03Polls show that Brazilian voters reject interference by foreign powers in internal affairs.
11:12President Lula will end up benefiting from this, and Flavio Bolsonaro,
11:15by lobbying against national interests, has damaged his own candidacy.
11:20Brazil's presidential elections will take place on October 4th.
11:29In the United States, President Donald Trump reported on alleged vulnerabilities in the nation's electoral systems
11:36as his approval rating hits an all-time low ahead of the November midterm elections.
11:41President Trump delivered a speech on Thursday where he once again revisited allegations
11:46of government's cover-ups and vulnerabilities in the nation's electoral system without offering any proof.
11:52For years, Trump has spread bracelets claims that his loss in the 2020 presidential election was rigged and stolen,
11:59and even accused foreign governments of interference.
12:02However, critics argue that these latest demagogic claims pretend only to divert public opinion away from the Middle East conflict
12:09that has caused increasing opposition to his government ahead of the November midterm general elections.
12:21I'm announcing the immediate declassification and release of critical intelligence, revealing shocking vulnerabilities in our election infrastructure.
12:31This evidence shows that the election system we have dangerously exposes, and really exposes like levels never thought possible,
12:43to hacking, exploitation, and foreign interference.
12:48Just as disturbingly this vital information has for many years been covered up and hidden from you,
12:55the American people, our beautiful, our great American people.
13:00In that regard, Trump called on the United States Senate to approve the Safe America Act,
13:04which has been widely regarded as an unconstitutional bill aimed at stripping millions of citizens of the right to vote.
13:11All voters must provide proof of citizenship.
13:15Are you a citizen of our country, please?
13:18And hopefully there will be no corrupt mail-in ballots, which if you watched California and so many other places,
13:25mail-in ballots are inherently corrupt.
13:29So you would have no mail-in ballots except for illness, disability, military deployment, or travel.
13:39If you're going away on business or vacation, these reforms are urgently needed to stop the vulnerabilities that I've mentioned.
13:48To all Americans, I ask you to pick up your phone tomorrow, call your representatives in the House and Senate,
13:54and demand that they pass the Save America Act without delay.
14:02For its part, China accuses U.S. President Donald Trump of making far-fledged claims
14:07after he asserted that China has compromised U.S. election data.
14:11China's foreign ministry spokesperson in the end dismisses the claims as an entirely fabricated counter-accusing Washington
14:17of conducting global civilians.
14:20Beijing urged the U.S. to stop exploiting China's domestic campaign issue,
14:24warning that the groundless allegations threatened bilateral relations.
14:27Tensions are compounding after Washington tied in visa rules,

15:29The U.S. authorities have escalated in the Middle East with the U.S. attacking Iranian critical infrastructure,
15:34killing at least eight people and leaving more than 20 injured.
15:37The U.S. Central Command said early Friday that it had ended its latest round of airstrikes targeting Iran,
15:44the sixth night in a row of strikes on the Islamic Republic.
15:48According to CENTCOM, the latest wave of attacks, which concluded at dawn on Friday, hit dozens of Iranian targets.
15:54For its part, the Iranian media is reporting that the five bridges were targeted in our Mosgan province,
16:00while U.S. strikes hit areas around Tehran and Semnan province on Thursday,
16:04home to Iran's ballistic missile production and space program.
16:08This comes as President Donald Trump has returned in recent days to his threats to target Iranian-powered stations
16:15and bridges to try to compel Iran to relinquish control over the Strait of Hormuz.
16:26U.S. Marine boarded vessels in the Gulf of Oman on Thursday enforcing the illegal blockade on an alien ports
16:32declared by President Trump on Tuesday.
16:35According to a social media post by the U.S. Central Command,
16:38U.S. Marine boarded the MT Wenyao to allegedly ensure full compliance with the ongoing U.S. naval blockade.
16:45CENTCOM further said it had redirected three commercial vessels sailing in the area
16:50and a U.S. aircraft fired on the end and disabled an unladen oil tanker that tried to break the
16:57blockade.
16:58According to Washington, the blockade is in effect since Tuesday evening,
17:01applies to vessels of all nationalities traveling to or from Iranian ports.
17:06This amid escalating peace violations by the U.S. government,
17:09which led Iranian authorities to close once again navigation throughout the Strait of Hormuz.
17:22Iran's army says it launched the 11th phase of operations ahead against U.S. regional targets
17:28hitting U.S. radar systems and missile launch platforms in Kuwait.
17:32The Iranian army said it will respond quickly and firmly in proportion to hostile warning the United States
17:39against miscalculating Iran's capabilities and resolve.
17:43In the sense, Iran had warned on Thursday that it will destroy infrastructure across the region
17:48if the United States carries out threats to target the Islamic Republic's critical infrastructure,
