00:06well hello there folks and a very warm welcome as usual back to what's for tea and it's lovely
00:12to see you all again and i hope that i find you very well and today for you i've got
00:17this delicious
00:18chunky beef chili which has been made in the slow cooker and this is absolutely delicious highly
00:25recommend you give this one a go so let me show you how i made this and as usual all
00:30of the
00:30ingredients will put on the screen as i use them so this is my diced beef here and then to
00:35this i'm
00:36just going to add some plain flour and salt and pepper as well so just combine the three of these
00:42in the one bowl and then we're just going to throw this on top of the beef and just work
00:46it into your
00:46beef nice and slowly so that it's coated all over and this is going to help protect your beef as
00:52it's
00:52frying but it will also you know help thicken your gravy as well so set that to the side go
00:58over to
00:59your cooker you want a nice big pan these are all the herbs and spices that i'm using here so
01:04i've
01:04got coriander ginger i've got smoked paprika as well some cumin some mixed herbs and then obviously
01:11some chili powder i'm also going to add a can of chopped tomatoes and this was my chili powder here
01:18you can use whatever one you prefer but this is a nice hot chili powder i'm also going to add
01:24some
01:24beans so i've got some kidney beans and also some mixed taco beans so like i said you'll need a
01:30nice
01:30big pan we're going to start this off in the pan and then transfer it to the slow cooker so
01:36just pop a
01:36few tablespoons of oil get that nice and hot spitting hot and then you can add in the beef you
01:42just want
01:43to spread this out and you want to cook this for about 10 minutes just until you know it's browned
01:48all over it doesn't need to be fully cooked because obviously it's going into the slow cooker for hours
01:54but you just want a good bit of color on here once it's browned all over you can add your
01:59onions this
02:00is just one chopped large onion i'm just going to stir this through and let this cook again for a
02:06good
02:06few minutes just until it starts to soften up and i'm going to add some garlic you can mince your
02:12garlic
02:13if you prefer we like chunky garlic and i'm going to add a couple of bird's eye chilies as well
02:18but again you can add whatever chilies you prefer if you don't like them quite as hot as we do
02:23add the milder ones just let that cook again for a couple of minutes and i'm going to add in
02:28some
02:29tomato puree or tomato paste and just make sure this is well stirred in this is going to help give
02:35you
02:35a lovely rich red color and i'm just going to pop in my herbs and spices and again just make
02:41sure
02:41these are well stirred into your beef and let that cook again just for a couple of minutes and then
02:48to this i'm going to add some worcester sauce as well so throw this in and again just make sure
02:54it's well stirred through and nicely combined and i'm going to add some beef stock or beef broth
03:01as well this is just an oxo cube with some water and again just give this a good
03:06stir it around to make sure everything is well combined and then i'm going to add my chopped
03:12tomatoes so just throw your tomatoes in including the sauce or the juice as well the sauce the juice
03:18so give that a good stir around as well just to make sure again everything is nicely combined and you
03:25want to bring this up to a simmer and then transfer this into your slow cooker just like this so
03:32that
03:32it's nice and warm when it gets added i'm just going to push the beef down just to make sure
03:38it's
03:38underneath that liquid pop the lid on and you want to let us cook on high for about five hours
03:45and then
03:45come back and i'm going to add a couple of chunks of dark chocolate you don't need to do this
03:50but it
03:50really does add something delicious to this recipe so just stir this around to make sure it's melted
03:57and i'm also going to add my red kidney beans just make sure that you rinse the beans before you
04:03add
04:04them to the slow cooker and then also my taco beans and sauce as well mind you i'm just showing
04:11you
04:11obviously what i am adding but you can add or leave out what you do and don't like i'm also
04:17going to add
04:17in a small bunch of chopped or torn coriander or cilantro as well and this is more or less done
04:25all you need to do is pop your lid on and let this warm through just to warm your beans
04:30and
04:30everything through for about 50 minutes to an hour and then that will be you done and doesn't it look
04:36amazing i would quite happily eat this just on its own with a chunk of crusty bread but you can
04:42of course
04:42serve this over rice or even with pasta it's obviously completely up to you but it is delicious and
04:49ever so thick and this freezes really well as well and you will get about six really good portions
04:56from this so thank you so much for watching and a huge thank you as usual to the supporters of
