00:00In fact, I think it's very unfortunate that the United States has had to come to this point.
00:05But Iran has clearly demonstrated what their pattern has been for the last 47 years,
00:10is that they cannot be trusted to do what's right, to comply with international community norms, standards and laws,
00:17and that they, in fact, will lie to the world and violate not only the memorandum of understanding
00:23negotiated with the Trump administration, but attack other countries as well throughout the region
00:28in a demonstration that they continue to hold outright hostility, maintain a revolutionary approach toward foreign policy,
00:36and that they, in fact, want to use proxy groups and others to destabilize the Middle East for the benefit
00:42of their power base.
00:44Right. You're saying trust is a major issue. The Americans do not trust the Iranians.
00:48I think the Iranians might say the same thing, and they don't trust the Americans.
00:52I mean, I'm wondering, with so little trust on each side, how anything can be agreed.
00:57How do you see diplomacy progressing?
01:00I think diplomacy can only progress if, at this point, trust is no longer going to be the issue.
01:05It's actually going to be verification and the actions that each country takes.
01:10Clearly, Iran took steps, and every time when it comes to that MOU that was negotiated, Iran violated it.
01:17And when you look back at their pattern throughout history, Iran has always used negotiations as a period of time
01:24for them to be able to set up how they're going to violate any agreement that they become party to,
01:30whether it's the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, whether it's the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action,
01:35or clearly this latest one where you had the Memorandum of Understanding with the Trump administration.
01:41So I don't think trust is even on the table anymore with Iran.
01:45They're going to clearly have to demonstrate through actions, not just words,
01:49but they, in fact, are going to comply and comport with international law regarding an international waterway in the Strait
01:56of Hormuz,
01:57their nuclear program, their ballistic missile program, and the list can go on and on.
02:02Thank you very much.
