00:00So Paul Quarry Hastings Council in partnership with Hasland Constructions
00:04and Lower Current Water will today sign off on one of the largest infrastructure projects our
00:09region has seen. The Kawarra Water Treatment Plant project is an integral element of the future water
00:15security of our local government area which will better service our current community as well as
00:21labour foundations to service the next generation and of course enable capacity growth across our
00:27broader economy when it comes to industry healthcare and also housing. I'll ask our GM to share some
00:34details on the project itself and where it fits within a larger scope of works but today I wanted
00:40to share a few insights from a strategic point of view and they are our region is growing rapidly as
00:46we know our council has responded accordingly and what we are incredibly focused on delivering
00:54is core infrastructure to not only keep up with the pressures of today but enable a stable economy
01:00and capacity in our networks to cater for the next generation as well. So today's about the Kawarra
01:06Water Treatment Plant. Yesterday at council meeting right here in the changes council unanimously supported
01:12an expenditure of more than nine million dollars on the northern arm trunk lane another critical
01:18pipework project as well. We have the Thrumster wastewater project in hand at the moment and we'll look forward to
01:25making some
01:25announcements on that project in due course but over the last five years in particular our council has done much
01:32work on
01:32refining its focus becoming more disciplined in its approach to delivering the core infrastructure
01:38that it should but within the funding sources available. I will mention the support of the New South Wales Government
01:43in
01:44seven million dollars in financial support for this project the Kawarra project through the latest round
01:49of the low cost loans initiative which I'm taking as a good first step in contributing its support for
01:56what is clearly a massive project undertaking for our council. There is more advocacy work to do in achieving
02:02more financial support for the Kawarra project but also the Thrumster project and to ensure our community isn't
02:09left to carry the full burden I'll be relying on the support and asking for the support of our state
02:14members but also the governments of the day to make sure that we are collectively contributing to
02:19the cost burden so it's not fully borne by our community. I do wish our contractors and staff well in
02:25the
02:26delivery phase the people that actually do the work on the ground I wish you well I'm hoping we don't
02:31have
02:31too many weather events that are going to delay things but also really looking forward to turning that first on
02:36as well so
02:40you
