00:27So, I'm going to screw my feet to go.
00:29I started the process of trying to advocate for mobile matting.
00:33It's actually an international standard and there's people from all around Australia
00:36that now have mobile matting rolling out.
00:38And I even went and interviewed people off and down the New South Wales coast
00:41and asked lifeguards and they over and over again said
00:45you need to come to them almost daily saying this has opened up the world to them.
00:48They can now ask them to be just when they have a video.
00:50So, I really wanted to bring that to the right.
00:52So, I've worked with council.
00:53I'm really excited to see that this has come to the reason today.
00:56It won't just benefit people in wheelchairs.
00:59It will benefit elderly who need to walk on a flat surface.
01:07It will benefit blind people and mothers with friends.
01:14So, it's not just something for disability.
01:18It's something that can benefit the whole community.
01:22This mobile matting is a product of some quite intense lobbying from people in and around our community
01:27to do something to increase access to the beach area.
01:31So, we've obviously put in some money to fund a trial
01:36and now we have a four-week trial of ensuring people can get access to one of our pristine beaches.
01:41I've always had an appreciation for people with mobility issues.
01:44I think getting in a wheelchair last year and going around the CBD really highlights
01:47some of those small things that could be improved to make a really big difference.
01:52And having access to the beach is something that people probably take for granted.
01:56But people with mobility issues, it's something they've been looking forward to for quite some time.
