The Deadly Labs: Kickin' It project, spearheaded by DeadlyScience founder Corey Tutt, allowed nine young men in custody at Acmena Youth Justice Centre in Grafton, NSW, to take full ownership of creating a STEM kit. This video was created by the participants and DeadlyScience.

00:00First Nation people have used science for over 65,000 years.
00:06Our culture is the oldest in the world.
00:10The first scientist passed on the lessons of the land, sea and sky to the future scientist of today
00:20through stories, songs and dance.
00:24We call this caring for country.
00:27If you care for country, the country will care for you.
00:33This is our story, told by us and filmed by us.
00:38With a little help from Deadly Science.
00:42We're the boys from Ackmana.
00:45Ackmana is a youth justice centre in Gratham, but we're from all over New South Wales.
00:51I'm from out west, so it's pretty dry out there, just red sand.
00:59Yeah, I like the red sand.
01:00Everyone should see it.
01:02At the start, only a few of us were deadly scientists.
01:06Some of us were trying science for the first time, and some of us didn't like science much at all.
01:13I don't know, I didn't really know much about it.
01:15I didn't do much of it, but I've got to do some of it, and yeah, I don't know I'm
01:20not really good at that stuff.
01:22I said I don't know, because I've never done it before.
01:25There's some things that I don't like about it, but most of it's all good, you know.
01:29We yarned with the scientists and each other.
01:32We told stories and made connections, and we all learned together.
01:37But after spending some time with Deadly Science, we decided science was alright.
01:41We're going to show you how Deadly Science can be.
01:45Science is interesting.
01:46When I go back to school, I'll probably learn about it, but I like that kind of stuff.
01:51Science is about looking at the world around you, asking questions and creating experiments to find answers.
01:58We've been working with Deadly Science to create our own Deadly Labs kit.
02:04We're going to send it to boys and girls in centres across Australia.
02:09We had a big task ahead of us, coming up with a science kit that's a weapon.
02:14We came up with the name Kikinit, and it comes with a science experiment, activities, and this film.
02:22We thought a lot about what could go in these.
02:26We had other ideas, too.
02:30As soon as we thought about science, we all thought about explosions, like in Fast and Furious and Mythbusters.
02:37I thought it was like mad, and I watched videos on our TV.
02:41They were like crazy experiments, like fire, like other type of gases and liquids and that.
02:48We'd all seen heaps of videos of blowing things up, so we wanted to come up with our own explosions.
02:55We realized there are explosions all around us, that science is everywhere, like the explosions that happen when you cook.
03:05We tried to answer big questions, like what is life.
03:11We thought about what we need to live, like what keeps us alive.
03:16So we came up with a way to answer that question.
03:20We could put all the things needed for life in a jar.
03:25We started to think about things we enjoyed doing.
03:31We love sport, and we wonder if there is science in sport.
03:37Turns out there's heaps of sport science.
03:40We wondered what is the difference between a basketball and a tennis ball, and if that changes how the ball
03:47is used.
03:49We voted for the most platinum idea.
03:59It was a really close call, but in the end we decided on sport.
04:06We all love sport because we spend time outside, and we do it together.
04:12From these experiments you'll learn about biology, chemistry, physics, and how science works.
04:35We'll learn about biology, chemistry, chemistry, physics, science, and physics.
04:36I wanted to analysis to all technology, I mentioned it on purpose because it is from an architectural match, and
04:36this is from a genre.
04:36It allows you to set the group's cell diagnostic tool for the field of the field of the field of
04:36professionalvised어나ge.
04:36So we would care about local processes for changingещ
