Jesus Vs. Joshua.
Transcript
00:00Hey, Shalom brothers and sisters, welcome back. Thank you again for joining me.
00:04Today I want to talk about a couple mistranslations in the New King James Version of the Bible that I
00:10want to point out to you.
00:12Yes, you know, they have, you know, all these different translations.
00:17They might have deliberate or undeliberate mistranslations in names or words or places or things like that.
00:25But I just want to point out two of them for you right now.
00:28And anyways, even though it's in the New King James Version, in the New King James Version, they corrected them
00:37in these two instances I'm going to explain to you.
00:40And in the Bible I use, you know, it's corrected too.
00:44And I just want to share this with you.
00:47So if you get your Bibles out right now and join me in the Book of Acts.
00:51The Book of Acts, and it's going to be chapter 7 and verse 44 to 46.
01:00And it reads here.
01:04Our fathers had the tabernacle, the witness in the wilderness as he had appointed, speaking unto Moses that he should
01:14make it according to the fashion that he had seen.
01:18Which also our fathers that came after brought with him Yeshua into the possession of the Gentiles, whom God drove
01:29out before the face of our fathers unto the days of David, who found favor before God and desired to
01:38find a tabernacle for the God of Jacob.
01:42Now, I'm reading from the King James Version, and the mistranslation right here is the name Yeshua.
01:48Yeshua, it should be Joshua.
01:51You know, Joshua in the Book of Joshua, it should be Joshua.
01:55The thing is, the translators got it mixed up, because Joshua and Yeshua with Jesus are the same.
02:05It's the same, the same name.
02:07But in English, you know, they separate Jesus from Joshua.
02:11But, you know, the Book of Joshua, his name is Yeshua.
02:16You know, Yah says.
02:18But the translators in this King James here just put Jesus down.
02:24And it confuses people because you think they're talking about the Messiah.
02:27And it's not so.
02:28They're talking about, you know, Joshua from the Old Testament, you know.
02:32You know, he was one that took over Moses' spot.
02:37You know, when Moses passed away, you know, Joshua took the children of Israel into the Promised Land.
02:42And that's who he's talking about there.
02:45And that was, this, in the Book of Acts, this chapter was when Stephen was explaining to, you know, the
02:53Pharisees and then the religious establishment.
02:55You know, giving a little history about things before he, you know, before he was actually martyred for, you know,
03:02his beliefs in Yeshua, the Messiah.
03:05And anyways, I just wanted to show you that one.
03:07Now I'm going to go to the Book of Hebrews.
03:11I'm still in the King James Version, of course.
03:13And now I'm going to go to, let's see, I'm on chapter 4.
03:19And I'm going to go to 7 to 9.
03:41And then verse 9 says,
03:53So, the thing is, again, they replaced Joshua's name with Yeshua, or Jesus, Yeshua.
04:01And they're both Yeshua's.
04:02But, you know, the Messiah, Yeshua, is, you know, the New Testament one.
04:08The Old Testament, Yeshua, was Joshua.
04:10You know, so these are two, two of the scriptures, verses I wanted to explain to you that were mistranslations.
04:21Like I said before, the New King James Version corrected it.
04:25And, you know, everybody talks about the King James Version being, you know, the best translation around.
04:31But that's really not the case.
04:34And, you know, the New King James Version, when they came around, they corrected that.
04:39But not only that, you know, the old, you know, was it 16th, 17th century wardings, letters,
04:45and the wardings and phrases and everything were out of date.
04:49You know, that was English words and English phrases back then.
04:53And they tried to modernize it and everything else.
04:57But, yeah, I just wanted to share this with you, you know, if you never, you know, picked up on
05:04it or noticed it or anything.
05:07And, yeah, this, of course, this is, you know, going to be just a small little lesson.
05:12But hopefully you've learned a lot from it, you know.
05:15You know, just beware of it and beware of all Bible translations, as a matter of fact.
05:21And that's all I really wanted to point out.
05:24And I thank you again for joining me.
