What does or doesn't the Bible say Easter?
Transcript
00:00Hey, shalom brothers and sisters. Welcome back. Thank you again. And today I want to talk about a topic of
00:07the scriptures. Now, is the word Easter in the Bible? Well, that depends on what translation you're looking at. And
00:18actually, the original Easter is not in there.
00:21It was placed in there in a couple of translations by certain church organizations, I believe, in Easter. I want
00:31to read this to you right here to prove the point.
00:38In a careful examination of the scriptures, we discover the word Easter only one time as a mistranslation and is
00:46not as only one Bible version.
00:50It's only in one Bible version, unless you get to the, you know, other new Bibles that add it, you
00:56know.
00:57The account is Acts chapter 12, verse 4, after Herod imprisoned the apostle Peter.
01:04Verse 4 in the King James Version reads, intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people.
01:13Notice how all other versions properly translate this same passage, this exact same passage.
01:21Herod intended to bring him forth to the people, intending to bring him forth to the people after Passover, the
01:26New King James Version Bible, intending after the Passover to bring him out before the people, New American Standard Version.
01:37Herod intended to bring him out for public trial after the Passover, New International Version, with the intention of producing
01:47him to the people after Passover.
01:50James Moffat translation, intending after the Passover to bring him out to the people, Revised Standard Version.
02:08Herod's intention was to deliver Peter to the Jews for execution after the Passover, that's the Living Bible Translation.
02:18Intending to bring him out for public trial, intending to bring him out to the people after Passover, modern language
02:23Bible, meaning to produce him in public after Passover, New English Bible.
02:31Intending after the Passover to bring him forth to the people, the Webster Bible.
02:37Proposing after the Passover to bring him forth to the people, the Amplified New Testament.
02:46Intending to bring him out to the people after the Passover, the New Berkeley Version in modern English.
02:55As the King James Newberry Reference Bible shows, in a side column note on Acts 12.4, the word Easter
03:03in the King James should have been Passover.
03:07Newberry includes the Greek letters for another one, but it's amazing.
03:14Easter is the second biggest religious celebration of the Christian world, yet its only scriptural evidence in the entire Bible
03:23is one mistranslated word.
03:26Clearly the Passover is the proper observance for New Testament believers.
03:32And, of course, you know, as scholars, you know, amateur scholars or seasoned scholars, we all know the truth about
03:40where, you know, Easter came from.
03:43You know, it's just a pagan fertility rite, ritual or whatever, you know, festival.
03:52Festival, you know, instead of Easter, you know, you had Babylon and you had Egypt, you know, had fertility goddesses,
04:00you know, Astar and then, you know, the Greeks had Diana, you know.
04:06They just had different names throughout different times and with different worlds, you know, different kingdoms and empires.
04:14But I just wanted to read that to you.
04:16And, you know, if you have them Bibles out there, take a look at them, check them out for yourself,
04:21you know.
04:22It's only one little mistranslated word, you know, and that's it, you know.
04:27But Easter is not in the Bible.
04:30It's Passover, plain and simple.
04:33Like it or not, truth be told, that's it.
04:36And with that said and done, thank you again for stopping by.
