00:00Now to baseball, where I think a dying home run derby was revived last night.
00:04I'll go beyond that to say, this was the greatest home run derby in the history of home run derbies.
00:12Cardinals outfielder Jordan Walker hit six consecutive home runs in the final to stun the Philly crowd,
00:18who is rooting feverly for their guy, Kyle Schwarber.
00:22Walker began the first player in Cardinals franchise history to take the derby crown.
00:31Listen, this was absolutely remarkable.
00:35The theater, the drama, and Walker was down to his final swank.
00:41And if any of them didn't go over the fence, Schwarber wits.
00:46And I just love the Philly fans.
00:48I loved everything about the energy.
00:52I loved the boos.
00:53I loved when they were booing Contreras, who was going up against Schwarber.
00:56I loved when they were booing Walker.
00:58The fans were a huge part of this, adding to the drama to make this the single greatest home run
01:05derby we've ever seen.
01:07I picked, as you know, on Shine Time, Kyle Schwarber to win the home run derby.
01:11I thought the best thing for baseball last night would be to ultimately see Schwarber or Harper win the home
01:17run derby.
01:18As it turned out, the best thing for baseball was for Walker to steal it.
01:25It was over.
01:26All he had to do was not hit a home run on one of his last six swings in Schwarber
01:30wits.
01:30I mean, it was done.
01:32And then Walker just hit Homer after Homer after Homer.
01:34Also, they got rid of the clock.
01:38That was huge.
01:39I hated the clock.
01:41Think about old school when you would go with your mom or your dad to batting practice to watch the
01:46big guns hit bombs, right?
01:49And you're sitting there and you just want to see a batter dig in and absolutely mash one.
01:54I mean, for me, I used to love watching, you know, Barry Bonds or Juan Gonzalez in batting practice.
02:01I mean, those were great times.
02:03I don't need a clock.
02:04I just want to see them dig in.
02:06I want to see them get a nice grip, a pine tar, and then just absolutely bash the hell out
02:11of the baseball.
02:12That was the beauty of last night.
02:14And to see Walker do what he did, and that's incredible.

02:19His dad was there.
02:20The fans are chanting for Walker's dad.
02:22You get to learn something about maybe a player that you don't know a lot about in terms of Walker
02:28and who he is
02:28or what he brings to the table for the St. Louis Cardinals.
02:31Man, what a great night for baseball.
02:34That was as dramatic, as pulsating, as wonderful as a home run derby as you'll ever see.
02:41I think that having it in a northeast city, specifically Philly,
02:45where you had a couple of prodigious sluggers from the Phillies in the home run derby,
02:50the fans were such an amazing part of it last night in terms of the drama and the pageantry and
02:56the feel.
02:58Man, and then to see Schwarber's reaction as you see Walker hit the home run and that Netflix shot of

03:05and Harper's right behind him.
03:06No one could believe that Walker just kept hitting Homer after Homer after Homer.
03:10I mean, there are some home run derbies you'll never forget.

03:20I love when baseball's on center stage.
03:23I love when everyone is buzzing about baseball.
03:26I even like when you take flyers like last night of like, here's Will Ferrell, here's Luke Wilson,

03:32It's going to be all the pomp and circumstance you need.
03:34Whether it worked, whether it didn't, to me it doesn't matter.
03:38It's a show when it comes to Major League Baseball.
03:41And I thought last night that was everything great for baseball.
03:46Great passionate fans in Philly.
03:48Drama with Schwarber.
03:49And the fact that Walker was able to do what he did,
03:52six straight bombs to steal victory from my guy Kyle Schwarber,
03:57best thing I've ever seen in terms of those prodigious blasts for a home run derby.

04:06He's going to lead off for the American League tonight in his 12th All-Star game.
04:10Maybe those rabid fans in Philly would like to see him come back and play close to home.

05:18And he said he doesn't like to give people advice on things where he doesn't have knowledge on.

05:24He was always loyal to the Yankees.

05:29So he would be reluctant to give Trout advice.
05:33But Jeter does think staying in one place is special.
05:37And I know that Trout thinks that as well.
05:40I don't think when you factor in injuries and contract,
05:43there are going to be multiple suitors lined up here to trade for Mike Trout.
