00:02Okay, so I was thinking about this when I heard this little bit of sound,
00:06a quote yesterday from Luis Arise.
00:10So he is a trade target, possibly, for the Red Sox, in my opinion.
00:16Giants second baseman.
00:18He's on one-year, $12 million contract.
00:20He'll be a free agent after that.
00:22He's not perfect.
00:24He's a lefty bat.
00:25He's not a righty bat.
00:27But this is what he said.
00:28He said, this is a business.
00:30Whatever team wants to give me the opportunity to help,
00:33it's going to be at second base.
00:36I don't want to go back to first base.
00:38I prepared my mind.
00:39I prepared my body to only play second base.
00:42100%.
00:43I'm staying at second base.
00:47So he's hitting 330.
00:49He would provide, I think, a lot of offense for your lineup.
00:52And I think it's going to be hard to find somebody who is a good option
00:57offensively that is going to be a real addition if you want to add at the
01:01trade deadline if they come out of this all-star break and they continue
01:04this momentum.
01:05When you say tough to find because it's going to be a rental player like he
01:09would be?

01:11And also, I just think there's going to be so many pitchers moving.
01:14Like, there's going to be so many teams who are looking to move pitchers.
01:17And if you're looking to add somebody who's really going to add something
01:20to your offense.
01:21Again, he's not perfect.
01:22But when I read and saw that quote, I was like, it does kind of sound like
01:27somebody who the Red Sox sent to the Giants.

01:31I mean, yeah, there was an issue with a guy who didn't want to play first base.
01:35But you got a guy now.
01:37Anthony Siegler, too, who then is playing second.
01:41Well, what I was going to say is you got a guy right now playing first base who was
01:46willing to make a change position-wise, go from a catcher to playing first base.
01:50And absolutely was happy to do it and willing to do it and love doing it.

01:55So there are guys out there who don't mind.

01:57For those that were arguing the Devers point a long, long time ago here.
02:01But I just, you got to either be all in or all out.

02:08And you can't half-ass it.
02:10So if you're Craig Breslow, that when it comes to the deadline, which is, what
02:14are we, a week and a half away, you cannot half-ass it.
02:18You just got to be, and if it means that you got to go and get rental players and
02:22you got to give up prospects, who cares?

02:50And I think they believe in this team because they've already, they've told us
02:54multiple, multiple times the talent is better than what the record is.

03:02They believe this is a good baseball team.
03:05And they believe this is a team that built off of a team that got to the
03:08playoffs last year.
03:09So I think they're going into it going, all right, this run that we're having is
03:15not like lightning in a bottle.
03:16Like we're not getting lucky.
03:18This is who we've always believed this team to be.
03:21If to get a legit bat, a veteran bat, you have to give away Roman Anthony,
03:29Marcelo Meyer, Christian Campbell, if anybody wants it, whatever.
03:35Do you, are you concerned about that?
03:36Or are you?

03:38Like Roman Anthony, right?
03:40Campbell, Meyer, you could take those guys.

03:46The question becomes, and this is the issue that we've had this season long.
03:51We don't know who Roman Anthony is yet.
03:55We have very high expectations for him because of what we saw him do at the end
04:00of the season last year.
04:01And then he did in the World Baseball Classic.
04:05But then when he got into the regular season this year before the injury, he wasn't performing
04:10at the level that you go, wait a second.
04:12This guy's supposed to be the face of the league.
04:14And I think he had one home run the whole time that he was playing and healthy.
04:19So, the question becomes, do you roll the dice on a guy that potentially could be the player
04:26you expect him to be?
04:27Or?
04:28Go for it.
04:29Go for it now.
04:31And, like, who cares about the future?
04:33Or you keep him around and he's not the player you expect him to be.

04:59I don't think it's going to be that easy for them to find bats.
