00:00Do you think in any world there's a team that would be like, you know what, we could use Caleb
00:04Durbin, Isaiah Kainer-Falefa, and Andrew Monasterio?
00:08Like, we need all three of those guys.
00:09You should have one of those guys.
00:10And it tells you what the roster is.
00:11So he's now going to spend the year in Puerto Rico making $13 million.
00:15Like, no one has it.
00:15So we don't need to do a sad story for Alex Cora.
00:18He is going to have a great 2026 and potentially 2027.
00:22And I just look at the roster.
00:23I wrote a story for BSJ today.
00:25And I just want to look, if you were in charge of this team, if you were Breslow or Kennedy
00:29or whoever it goes, who on this team do you look at?
00:32And you're like, yeah, they're a part, they're a major foundational piece of our future.
00:36I went through the roster.
00:39There's like seven to ten guys you feel good about generally.
00:42And some of those guys are, you know, of all this Chapman I mentioned earlier, guys that you don't look
00:45at as part of the future.
00:46And some of those guys, it's just based on hope.
00:48Like Roman Anthony and Marcelo Meyer, it's like, well, you hope they end up being foundational pieces.
00:53So you look at the way this roster is built, and it's all bad.
00:57It's a very poor team.
00:59And have they underperformed?
01:01I don't know, a couple games maybe at worst?
01:03Like, I don't look at this team as underperforming.
01:05They are what they are, and it's not good.
01:07And Roman Anthony, too, has taken a dent in my mind, too.
01:10Like, you know, I've had such high expectations for him based on last year.
01:14And once they, you know, trade Devers, he's really one of the main reasons that the team's offense starts to
01:19wake up.
01:19He looked great in the WBC, and it's now you wonder if he has a lingering issue with his back,
01:25too.
01:25Like, I just feel like he's been one of the – another guy that's really done nothing offensively this year.
01:29It's one of the parts of this team being a big disappointment.
01:32Like, how do you – to your point, how do you go forward in finding or building cornerstone players?
01:39How does this – how does – it's amazing that we're here with the Red Sox, doesn't have cornerstone players.
01:44How do they find these players, and how do you bring that in?
01:46How do you go about not just turning around this season, but for the long term, how does this team
01:52build foundational cornerstone players?
01:55Where do they get them from?
01:57Well, that's why this trade deadline, I think, is going to be important because they're in between, right?
02:02If Craig Breslow really believes this is a team built for a deep playoff run, they're in trouble.
02:05Like, they are not going to get the help that they need in these places.
02:10Like, you have to make these trades, and you have to hit on them.
02:11And when you trade, say, I don't know, a franchise cornerstone in Raphael Devers, you shouldn't trade him for a
02:18bag of balls,
02:19and then trade that bag of balls away, and then that bag of balls ends up being kind of good.
02:23Like, you could use Kyle Harrison this year.
02:25You know, you have too many outfielders for – what's his name?
02:28Tibbs.
02:29If it's a good player, and you traded him away and didn't get anything back, like, you are screwing up
02:33and compounding your mistakes.
02:35If it's a good player, it's a good player, and it's a good player, and it's a good player.
02:36If it's a good player, it's a good player, and it's a good player.
