00:00And the question becomes, and we don't know the full extent of the injury yet,
00:03you hope it's better than it sounds.
00:04He didn't sound encouraged.
00:05Cora didn't sound encouraged.
00:06No one on the broadcast sounds encouraged.
00:08Oblique injuries are bad.
00:10Can the team survive without him?
00:12It's going to be really tough.
00:13I mean, he's been so important to them.
00:15I mean, a lot of times, you know, people point back to the team's record
00:19since Devers was gone, right, since the Devers trade.
00:23Another way of looking at that same deal is the record since Roman Anthony
00:28has joined the team.
00:29And he's hit leadoff, which I didn't expect him to hit leadoff.
00:33Maybe that's something that I'm just, like, sort of fixated on.
00:35But he's been so good, he gets on base all the time.
00:38So even with some of his games where you see him strike out a few times,
00:41all the at-bats are productive.
00:43Like, he gets on base.
00:45He's adding a little bit more power, much to what Fitzy wanted, right?
00:47Fitzy was asking for more power, and he has gotten it.
00:50He's also kind of figured it out in the field, too, right?
00:52The first few games, you're like, I don't know how this is going to go.
00:55But he's sort of figured that out on the fly.
00:56But he's such an important player on the team because you look up and down.
01:02As many runs as they have scored, you have, like, Bregman, Story, and Anthony.
01:08And everybody else, it's kind of, like, matchup-based or moving guys around, right?
01:14And now I know some of it is, you know, William Bray, you hurt, and some of the injuries, too.
01:17But Cora plays a lot of different players, plays them in a lot of different spots,
01:21both in the field and in the lineup.
01:23But the constants have been the left side of the infield since Bregman returned from his injury,
01:28and Roman Anthony.
01:29So if you take Roman Anthony out, that's tough.
01:33Like, I don't think it's a you-missed-the-playoffs tough.
01:36So I don't think so either.
01:38But if you told me he's done for the year, right, he's not playing again, but come on.
01:43I think they would make the playoffs, but I don't feel great about it.
01:47No.
01:48And then they'd be in trouble once they got to the postseason.
01:51Yeah, but I think they'd have no chance once they got to the postseason.
01:54So, again, 2011, at this time, we would have been like, Red Sox are in the playoffs,
01:58and they didn't, famously.
02:00So you don't want to go crazy, but they have a six-game lead over the Rangers,
02:06who are the next wild-card team, right?
02:08So they're tied with the Yankees for, like, the top wild-card spot.
02:11Then they're four-and-a-half up, I think, on the Mariners,
02:14who are the third wild-card spot.
02:16And then an additional game-and-a-half over the Rangers.
