The AgForce two-day tour was a direct effort to show city policymakers the practical realities of everyday land management.

00:00Producers at the end of a long day don't want to come home
00:04and do an honest amount of paperwork.
00:07You know, they're not experts on the environment.
00:10I would argue that they're doing the environmental stuff good,
00:13but are they an expert on the law of the environmental law?
00:19No.
00:20Should they need to be?
00:22They shouldn't need to be.
00:23Producers already comply with 130 bits of legislation already.
00:30We don't need to add another burden, a layer of that,
00:33and that's what we're trying to do today to make sure that it's simple,
00:38it's easy to manage for people who necessarily haven't got the knowledge in that area
00:44and or, you know, extra compliance and cost.
00:48We do have a framework that allows for us to make this simple and easy for producers
00:54and to minimise the actions they need to take
00:58by avoiding impacts that are significant for matters of national environmental significance.
01:03But we have to make sure that we're providing clear case studies
01:08and we're making that as easy to interact with as possible
01:11and busting some of the myths that are there about what it means.
01:15When you're sitting around in a city trying to discuss this stuff,
01:19it's very hard to get the message across because, as you know,
01:24a picture's worth a thousand words and these people are out there,
01:27they're touching it, they're feeling it, they're seeing good management,
01:30they're seeing invasives, they're seeing what they do.
01:33And, yeah, it was a good day.
01:36I reckon it was a great day of good communication.
