Farmers Jana Foster and Clint Winter have been left outraged by the increases.
Transcript
00:00We're outside the Woodenaw District Council offices this morning, waiting for their council meeting to begin.
00:05We are disappointed ratepayers who have experienced an average rate increase of 50%.
00:11Our roads are in a terrible state.
00:14We are winners of Ag Town of the Year, and we're just here to let council know that they need
00:20to be accountable to their ratepayers,
00:22and that a 50% increase with very little consultation won't be accepted.
00:27I think a very unfair increase in our rates.
00:31Mine personally have only gone up 38%, but from what I have heard across other farmers that are here, some
00:37well over 50%.
00:38It's a massive increase that we think is unfair.
00:41If they had spread that out across, say, three years, maybe it would be an easy pill to swallow, but
00:46that's the main reason we're here.
00:48But another part of the council that is frustrating to me is misallocations of funds.
00:54You see it in the, I guess, the progress report.
00:58There's certain parts where they're just, money is hemorrhaging, and I'm just sick of it.
01:03You know, you're not proud of it.
01:04That's right.
