00:03Queensland has currently recorded one positive case of the highly pathogenicity avian influenza
00:10H5 bird flu that was detected in a petrel on Moreton Island. The first thing people should
00:17do if they see sick or dying birds or wildlife is avoid contacting them. We then are asking
00:23people to record what they see. A photograph's handy, a GPS pin, some details about what they're
00:29seeing and then importantly they need to report it please to the Emergency Animal Disease Hotline
00:34on 1800 675 888. All the detections of H5 bird flu to date have been in wild birds. There
00:43have been no detections in poultry and no reports of mass mortalities. It is perfectly safe to
00:49keep eating chicken meat and eggs. Queensland Health advises that the risk of H5 bird flu
00:55flu to people is low.
