00:00DAP Secretary-General Lok Siu-Fuk has downplayed the potential impact of Barisan Nasional's
00:07landslide victory in Johor on the Negeri Sembilan state election on August 1.
00:13According to Bernama, the Chenna Assemblyman said the political dynamics in the two states
00:18were different, with Pakatan Harapan enjoying the advantage of incumbency after governing
00:24Negeri Sembilan since 2018.
00:27He added that PH's focus was to defend the 17 seats it won in 2023 and regain the people's
00:35mandate to continue forming the state government.
00:39Lok, the transport minister, also pointed to DAP winning more than 50% of the vote share
00:45in the six Johor seats it retained as evidence that PH continued to enjoy a pattern of support
00:52in the state.
00:53He attributed BN's success in the straight fights to pass backing the UMNO-led coalition
00:59in seats, not contested by Perikatan Nasional.
01:03While describing the Johor result as disappointing, Lok said PH respected the voters' decision.
01:11BN and PH are expected to contest separately in the Negeri Sembilan election on August 1,
01:17after running as allies in the 2023 state polls.
