00:00DAP Deputy Chairman Nga Kuo-Ming has denied pledging to step down as the Housing and Local Government Minister if

00:08Barisan Nacional scored a convincing win in the Johor state election.

00:13In a statement, Nga clarified that his remarks during a recent interview were misunderstood, saying he only vowed to resign

00:21if former Prime Minister Najib Razak was released early from his jail sentence.

00:27He added that freeing Najib, who was convicted in the SRC International case linked to the 1MDB scandal, would undermine

00:35the country's judicial system and the rule of law.

00:39Nga nonetheless congratulated BN on securing a two-thirds majority in Johor, saying the victory carried a heavy responsibility that

00:49must be handled with integrity.

00:50He also expressed confidence that Pakatan Harapan could make a comeback in Johor in the future.

00:58Earlier today, UMNO Youth Chief Dr. Akmal Saleh urged Nga to keep his promise and resign from his Cabinet position.
