00:02My name is Ray Gloster. I've been a mechanic in Underbill for 82 years.
00:09Ray Gloster is where he belongs, working alongside his sons, his grandson and his great-grandson
00:15at their garage in the Mallee town of Underbill.
00:17They often need a bit of help.
00:20At 99 he's probably the oldest working mechanic in the world, as the family wait for confirmation
00:25from the Guinness Book of Records.
00:27Well, that's been started at 1925, yeah.
00:31Ray's father started the business 101 years ago, and five generations later the Glosters
00:37are still servicing their community.
00:39A long-standing family business and we just thought, well, I'll see if I can keep building on it.
00:46Just being able to work with your father, I think it's just wonderful to be able to do that.
00:51I want him to. I grew up as a kid in the sheds with my father fixing tractors.
00:57It's good to work with family, work with my father when we get along.
01:02Frankie Gloster has been working here for just four months, but marvels at the energy of his great-grandfather.
01:07He still runs to the phone faster than us when it rings, so it shows he's still fit.
01:11But the generations before him know how hard it is to keep a business like this running.
01:17I want Frankie to find a more sustainable career.
01:20Mechanicking is getting harder. I don't want them to continue, no.
01:26But AJ Gloster isn't going anywhere just yet.
01:29We've been here all our lives, so I mean it's in our blood and that's what it's about.
01:35So keeping your community viable.
01:38All right.
01:40All right.
01:41All right.
