In outback Queensland, there's a tiny town where locals walk their dogs alongside a proud display of antique trucks. And now, "machinery mile" as it’s known - has expanded its collection - with hopes of further expansion in the future.

00:02This town is a museum to Queensland's agricultural past.
00:07We're kind of doing the deeds of our forefathers, you know, in preserving this history.
00:13Almost 200 old farming machines line Ilfracombe's main street.
00:18It's a drawcard for the community, a thousand kilometres northwest of Brisbane.
00:22I'm an old truck driver, and I just come here to relax,
00:25and I walk my dog up and down this Miracle Mile every day.
00:30It's a great achievement to this community.
00:32It's dubbed the Machinery Mile.
00:34Every place I stopped, either for a coffee or a fuel fill-up,
00:38people came out and asked about it.
00:40Four 1930s tractors from the personal collection of earth-moving entrepreneur Bert Teese
00:46are the latest addition, a donation from the Queensland Museum,
00:50now finding a home in the outback.
00:52They look quite small to our eyes, you know, with our perspective.
00:56But, you know, in the day, they were definitely, yeah, the machines for the job.
01:02Curators hope to extend this 800-metre open-air museum in the future.
01:07For now, their focus is on protecting the latest tractors and other machinery from the elements.
01:13We have more space, and we have more ideas about what we want to do
01:17and make it a bit longer, make it a true machinery mile.
