Waymo will expand fully autonomous ride-hailing to four more U.S. cities, initially serving employees before opening the robotaxi service to the public.

00:03Waymo will expand its driverless ride-hailing service to four new U.S. cities in the coming
00:07weeks, according to CNBC. Alphabet's Robotaxi unit will begin offering fully autonomous rides
00:13in San Diego, Las Vegas, Tampa, and Denver, with the initial rollout limited to employees before
00:18expanding to the public. Waymo currently operates driverless vehicles in more than 10 cities
00:23and had about 4,000 Robotaxis in its U.S. fleet as of May.
00:27The expansion comes as rivals Tesla and Amazon-owned Zuox continue entering new markets.
00:34Waymo also faces operational challenges after some vehicles drove into flooded roads and
00:38others became stranded during 4th of July traffic in San Francisco.
00:42In February, the company raised $16 billion from Alphabet and other investors and plans
00:48to launch service in London later this year after surpassing 20 million autonomous rides.
