00:01Due to the network altitude, B-Line trains at this stage will not be departing from Southern Cross.
00:06An early morning shock as commuters arrived to catch trains that never left the station.
00:12It's disappointing because I'm going back to Perth tomorrow morning, I won't see my son now.
00:17I can't go to town yet, so my job has been cancelled today.
00:21A bit sad and mad.
00:23Sad and mad.
00:25At B-Line stations around the state, confusion as frustrated commuters were stranded waiting for updates.
00:33I've been waiting since almost one hour, you know, for some of the communications to happen, but yeah, there's nothing
00:39happened.
00:40Telstra is used by rail networks across the country to allow control centres to see where their trains are.
00:46When they lost that coverage, B-Line said it had no option but to halt all of its 100 trains
00:52in service for safety reasons.
00:54Not to provide that service because of a third party failure is not good for us and it's not good
01:00for our passengers.
01:01Passengers like sail commuter Toby Karras, who missed the first day of her new TAFE course.
01:07Missing out on like all of the introductions, meeting new people, connecting with people, connecting with my teachers and stuff
01:15like that.
01:15So it's been a bit of a day.
01:19Questions are now being asked about how one Telstra outage could bring an entire network to a standstill.
01:25It looks as if V-Line do have all their eggs in one basket as far as telecommunications are concerned.
01:31It beggars belief that we don't have a backup system for one network like Telstra with our V-Line services.
01:38And at the time when they could have been helping people get to work, taxi drivers were stranded by the
01:44outage too.
01:45There was no network, I could not contact the customer and this was like 800 plus job.
01:52V-Line says it will seek urgent talks with Telstra to find out what went wrong and why there's no
01:58backup system to keep the network running.
02:00But it says there will be no special compensation for today's shutdown.
02:04Marc's Carice上 file officer hasstruggled me to estimate his other occupancy.
02:04It also comes to destinations with everyone who Tenning has ever recovered in the job of example.
02:05Players do hiss with land.
02:08Let's continue on, and they also closeơ gulf peak, really.
