00:00The wall can jump, Tillman, oh and it is, Malik Tillman, lightning strikes twice, and the United States has tied
00:09the game.
00:10A few moments later.
00:12Chosar to the byline, gets across, into Quetzalara, rising up, and Belgium retake the lead.
00:18Moments later, Chard de Quetzalara climbs the ladder, his second goal, and the U.S. right back where they were.
00:27Well, it had a moment, didn't it?
00:30They had that moment, man.
00:31I mean, my house went crazy when they tied it up, and Tillman did it again.
00:38Mine went crazy, too, for all the 90 seconds.
00:41You ain't lying, man.
00:42You couldn't even get yourself seated again, man.
00:44I couldn't even go up and fill my drink up.
00:48Next thing you know, they're down there in just an awful turnover that leads to another score, and it's just,
00:53they were just shell-shocked.
00:56And that was a part of it, right?
00:58Right from the beginning, I heard Carly Lloyd, after the game, said it felt like they lost the game before
01:07they even got on the pitch, she said.
01:09She said before they got off the bus, they lost the game.
01:13And 713-572-416, YouTube and Twitch, you can jump in on this as well.
01:18So, I think it is clearly both, right?
01:22We can have both.
01:24But what did you, when you watched the game, did you have the feel that it was more, man, this
01:30is the U.S. choking, self-inflicted, not ready-for-the-moment moves?
01:37Or did you watch it and feel like, man, Belgium's just, they're just a better team, right?
01:43You're just going to lose games to better teams.
01:47Like, I don't necessarily think, let's say two years ago, I don't necessarily think that the Texans choked against the
01:54Chiefs in the playoffs.
01:56I think they just lost to the better team.
02:00I mean, their offensive line was going, you're going to have some problems with Fisher going against Chris Jones by
02:05himself.
02:07But that didn't feel like, last year, I think there was more of a feeling that the Texans lost that,
02:13like, they were the ones, CJ at the helm of it, they were the ones that lost the game.
02:18Where did you feel, how did you feel about this one?
02:21Oh, I mean, I felt like the United States was, they choked, they weren't prepared, they were overwhelmed, the moment
02:29was too big.
02:31I think if anything, like, game-wise, other than not being prepared and other than being shell-shocked and, I
02:41mean, I'd hate to say, take your opponent lightly.
02:45I don't know why you would do that in that situation.
02:47I mean, if anything, I thought Belgium had a significantly better game plan.
02:51I don't know the schemes of the game, but it appeared that what they were trying to do, they were
02:55having more success at doing what their plan was than the United States was.
03:01But from a player perspective, it clearly was a choke, an unprepared, an overwhelmed, and it was that way for
03:10me.
03:11What Tyler just played, the penalty kick or whatever it was, a free kick, I don't even know what the
03:14difference is,
03:15but the score, the goal that they scored, I mean, that was outstanding.
03:20That was big time.
03:21But that was the only, like, I think that was the only, like, legit big moment in this game for
03:28the Americans.
03:29Everything else.
03:30Early on, he had to make an incredible save as they were putting pressure early on.
03:34Yeah.
03:35And that was, but that was just a precursor to, he's going to be under fire.
03:40Yeah, yeah, I just, I mean, look, I thought, I thought that the United States, it appeared that they were
03:48completely outmanned,
03:50but if you really watched, it was Belgium, they weren't significantly better.
03:58It was a bad, bad outing, obviously, for the United States, and what piss poor timing in a round of
04:0416.
04:04Yeah, I think one of the things we heard from experts throughout, and as we said, did you feel, what
04:09did you feel like it was more of?
04:10Because I do think, I think there was some self-inflicted wounds choking, and I think Belgium was a better
04:18team.
04:18They were a better team because I'm guessing the United States probably made some mistakes like this before and didn't
04:26get,
04:26and got away with it against lesser teams.
04:28Right, so Belgium, Belgium, I think there's a little bit of both, but what did you feel like it was
04:33more of?
04:33Did you watch that game and think, this is the U.S. choking more, or did you think, well, they're
04:39just losing to a better team?
04:40And, like, I almost rode through this to a point where I find it hard to blame game plan, not
04:51coaching to an extent,
04:53because, I mean, obviously your guys weren't ready to go out there and compete for some reason.
04:58They didn't play at the level of aggressiveness that they had played throughout the tournament,
05:01so that's got to fall not only on them but some of the coach, but it just seemed like they
05:06were so out of it
05:10or the moment was so big for them that, like, whatever they even talked about seemed like it went out
05:15the window.
05:16Whatever the game plan was, because he was over there drop-kicking water bottles.
05:20He was hitting stuff like, like, what are y'all over there doing?
05:25Right, man, it was, it did, it seemed like, you know, bad nervous?
05:32You know, sometimes there's good nervous before the game that you feel?
05:35They like, they had bad nervous.
05:37They looked like they were like, like, oh, my God, like, they're so much better than us.
05:43We just saw them.
05:44They beat us 5-2.
05:45We're intimidated.
05:45We're going to play different.
05:47So I think, I think, I do.
05:49I felt like the mistakes were preventable.
05:55Like, the first goal was led to three guys who had a chance to clear the ball,
06:00and none of them reacted to touch it.
06:03And the guy from Belgium came in, and that led to the first goal.
06:07It was, I mean, it was a rough watch to a man that all of them said they picked the
06:14worst time
06:15to play their worst game, by far to play their worst game.
06:19Many people spoke.
06:20Well, the interesting thing is that there was never a moment in that game where an American player
06:25stood out as being one of the better players on the field, or the pitch, I'm sorry.
06:31I think we can talk about stars if you want to.
06:34We can talk about injuries if you want to.
06:35But there was never a moment where it was like, yeah, we got one dude that's better than their guys.
06:40There was never a moment schematically where they changed what they were doing,
06:45kicking it around the outside and trying to get a corner kick when Belgium was doubling them
06:51and blocking the entry.
06:53They couldn't even get it in to where you could potentially, you know, have a shot.
06:57At halftime, I think it was 14 shots on goal for Belgium and four, I think it was,
07:02maybe three for the United States.
07:04I mean, it was.
07:06And then you come out.
07:07Before the free kick that led to the goal.
07:09Yeah, and it just seemed like we kept trying the same stuff, which, again,
07:14I don't know what the answer is in soccer, but I know it can't be.
07:17I know you watch other teams, and you watch them try different entries,
07:23entry points, and different approaches.
07:27And it just seemed like, man, the Americans just couldn't, they couldn't complete what appeared to be just simple passes
07:34at times.
07:35Yeah, they, and there's, and that's the thing is, in watching some of the other matches,
07:42they're, like, like Argentina is better than Egypt.
07:47They were favored against Egypt.
07:49But you didn't, when you watch them, it didn't appear like Egypt thought it.
07:55It was outclassed, yeah.
07:56They didn't, like, like, their last, Cape Verde was, was, was, is, they are a lesser team with lesser talent
08:05than Argentina.
08:06But when you watch them play, Cape Verde didn't seem to, to think it.
08:11Man, that, Team USA looked like they knew that they, they were playing in a way that they were a
08:17lot better than,
08:18and just don't, like, that, I don't think that goalie would do that a million, like, a million times if
08:23you get, just that mistake.
08:24I never had confidence in that guy watching soccer.
08:27Like, he just didn't, he didn't seem like a real confident guy to me.
08:29Well, you know what, there may be an issue there, Clinton Tyler, that your goalie is,
08:36or players that you have are, are MLS players.
08:40Like, unless it's, unless it's, you know, a certain, you know, you know, like Messi, who is playing over there
08:50because he's getting paid, man.
08:51Right.
08:52Like, I'm telling you, boy, there's, these guys.
08:54It's like sending the Skeeters to the Olympics.
08:55Yeah, these guys aren't, the great players aren't playing in the MLS.
09:00Like, there's got to be, there has got to be a goalie somewhere around the league that is playing somewhere
09:05else in the United States.
09:06That's better than the, so that, I mean, maybe that's, that's rudeness.
09:10And I don't know if I know soccer well enough to say that, but I would just be like, damn,
09:14I wonder how many other players on the team are playing for an MLS team.
09:18Yeah.
09:19How many of the opponents, you got to have MLS goals?
09:21Opponents or, I mean, or, or the players on the United States.
09:23I wonder.
09:23How many of our guys are playing in the MLS?
09:25I don't even, I don't know.
09:26I know most of the, the, the good ones are playing in, you know, leagues where they can really make
09:31money.
09:31Yeah.
09:31You know, around like, but I don't know.
09:34It was.
09:35Come home, come home and play for less, man.
09:37Get these leagues right.
09:38Get these leagues right.
09:40Play for less.
09:41No, that was, that was, yeah, that was, that was rough.
09:44They just, I mean, they look like they were, it looked like Vander, like I said to you, Vanderbilt football.
09:50Ooh, boy, they took care of South Carolina.
09:52Ooh, had a good, good non-conference win.
09:55They look good.
09:56They look good.
