00:00All right, some news coming from the Astros is they are off today
00:09and they'll get ready for a big series against the Tampa Bay Rays.
00:13But Christian Walker, he did leave the game yesterday with a back issue,
00:17had back stiffness, doesn't seem to be all that concerned about it.
00:22Walker thought it was just general fatigue
00:24and said he plans to be in the lineup on Friday.
00:27And then Ray Nail, Delgado, he left the game after taking up a ball
00:33that had a bad hop in his right hand.
00:36I think there was even thoughts that he dislocated the pinky finger with that,
00:41but the trainers were covering his hand immediately with a towel,
00:45so we'll see a little bit more on what's going on with him.
00:47A little Boogerman-Farlane pinky thing with pointed sideways.
00:50I'm going to tell you, the Christian Walker thing scares me.
00:53Yeah.
00:54The Christian Walker thing scares me, and it has nothing to do with the player.
00:57I'm not worried about Christian Walker one bit.
00:59He'll be back.
00:59He'll be fine.
01:00He'll continue to rake.
01:02He'll continue to rake, and he'll have a good year.
01:04A great year, really.
01:07The Christian combo.
01:09When a guy like Christian Walker cites Jig as a reason why his back tightened up
01:18or whatever happened, happened, boy, that just gives Joe a spot of the green light,
01:22doesn't it?
01:24Load management, boys.
01:25See, this is why we do it.
01:26Oh, yeah.
01:26This is why we do it.
01:28Load management.
01:28Oh, yeah, this is why we do it.
01:30He's one of the guys that likes to play more than he doesn't like to come out at all.
01:33Yeah, he wants to play 155 of them.
01:36He's, yeah.
01:36See, this is why.
01:37This is why we load manage right here.
01:39That's the scary part here.
01:41Not the player, the messaging to the organization, the decision makers.
01:46What if they give him tomorrow?
01:47Oh, yeah.
01:49Now I wonder.
01:49I guarantee you somebody's going to be off tomorrow.
01:52No, not off.
01:53They had a day off today.
01:55They'll all be in there.
01:55Do you think?
01:56Only one that you look at.
01:58Double up the off days, man.
01:59Take advantage of it.
02:00Not against the Rays.
02:01This is a big series.
02:02This is the, with the swoon that the Yankees have had.
02:07They've lost, what, seven straight?
02:10It just excites Tyler.
02:11I got a message for those Yankees turds.
02:14It's a smile on my face, man.
02:16They've lost seven straight.
02:17And with the horrificness of the American League, they are still clearly games ahead with the second-best record in
02:27the entire American League.
02:30But the Rays are now in first place, and that's who they're, the Astros are about to take on.
02:35So it does, this is a big series.
02:38And so I think all hands are on deck to kind of get through this.
02:40They have won five straight series.
02:42Now they're going to try to get back and win another series.
02:44By the way, if I'd have told you this about a month ago, three weeks ago, been like, all right.
02:55Playing the best team in the American League with the best record, who's the three you want to run out?
03:01Spencer Getty, Hunter Brown, and Big Pete Lambert.
03:05All right, let's go.
03:07Right now, that is the three best that they can throw.
03:12So, we got to pull up here a little bit on Spencer Getty.
03:16Oh, well, I thought you had another injury up there.
03:19No, no, no.
03:19This is Spencer Getty.
03:23This is getting a little dicey.
03:26I mean, his overall number, still, you'll take Clint.
03:29He's 7-4, 72 innings.
03:32ERA right at four.
03:3475 strikeouts, 37 walks.
03:36Clint, his ERA on June 3rd, five starts ago, was 1.94.
03:42It's climbed a bit.
03:44It has climbed to four, to a four-even ERA.
03:51And in his last five starts, fellas, Spencer Getty is 0-3, 25 innings, 25 earned runs.
04:01With 24 strikeouts, 11 walks, and he's given up seven home runs in those five starts.
04:07Eight earned in his last start.
04:09Easy, easy.
04:10In his last start.
04:11It is, like, this isn't now just a, you know, oh, all right, tough start, man.
04:15He has given up, like, big numbers here, five consecutive starts.
04:22That is, they desperately need him to get back.
04:24Because he was, I mean, we're going to stop all-star inside a young conference.
04:28He was 7-1 with an ERA at, like, 1.3 when we were in Michigan.
04:33Yeah.
04:33And now it is going here.
04:37So, like, this is, this is, to me, a flash and light, like, all right, now we've got to
04:42look at this.
04:42He may, he's not pitching, like, the second or third best starter.
04:47This is, this is the concern with everybody not named Hunter, Hunter Brown.
04:51I mean, this is, this is the concern.
04:53Now, I'm in no way, shape, or form getting off the Spencer Eric Getty train.
04:56Again, I think he's a, I think he's a three starter and a good start in rotation, potentially.
05:01That's where I think he's going to live, ultimately.
05:03But, you know, it's been a rough stretch, no doubt about it.
05:06But, but the, the, their, Tampa Bay is getting the best that the Astros can roll out there
05:12right now.
05:12And, and, you know, I believe all three of these cats are going to give us a chance to win.
05:16Yeah, I'm not, I'm not, I'm, I wouldn't say you walk away from hell.
05:21You ain't got no choice.
05:22I mean, you're not a choice.
05:24But it's not just that, it is, I mean, he started to make you think, get a little excited.
05:30Yeah.
05:31Like he started, I mean, we had the conversations on this show of like, one of the things with
05:37this, during this Astros golden era that apparently last week we decided ended, uh, of the golden
05:44era was they always had, it seemed to have a one, two punch at least at the top of the
05:50rotation.
05:51And we started thinking, man, Hunter Brown comes back like, all right, Spencer's not
05:56just holding his own.
05:57He's, he is pitching like a, at like a top of the rotation guy.
06:01And have they just all of a sudden stumbled on a one, two punch that matches some of the
06:07one, two punches they've had?
06:08Cause it was an eight, nine start sample size.
06:12Now, now we, now, now I'm with you.
06:17Just a solid starter in the league.
06:21And you got to at least get back to that because he's, I mean, he gave up eight runs in
06:24his
06:25last start.
06:25That's, that's Homer Mike Ville.
06:28That's, that's EMI territory of just like your starter comes out and gives up eight runs
06:34and doesn't make it through like three.
06:35That that's, that that's, that's, that's, he's got to pick that up.
06:38He's got to get better at that.
06:40Cause that is, that is something that they definitely leave.
06:42Well, again, I hate to keep going back to the Christian Javier thing, Ron, but this,
06:46this is beyond Hunter Brown.
06:48This is why I think it's, I think it's important that Christian Javier, like I know this is a
06:54little bit of an outlier and it's been off the radar because he's been hurt for so long.
06:57But like, if, if this team's going to make a legitimate run, it's probably going to hinge
07:01on Christian Javier to some degree.
07:03And I'm not talking about out of the bullpen.
07:05I mean, do we really, I like Peter Lambert.
07:07Do we think Peter Lambert is going to be, going to be, I mean, is he landed?
07:10Is this, is this who Peter Lambert is?
07:12I don't know.
07:13But Pete, Pete looks like Pete's got to have a, a hell of a sample size to fall out of
07:17this
07:17five.
07:18Oh no, no.
07:18I'm not going to fall.
07:19I'm talking about if we get down the stretch here, we got a chance to get into the playoffs
07:23and we do get into the playoffs.
07:25Like to think that, that Spencer Arrigetti is going to get, get it together and be the guy
07:29he was, you know, a couple of weeks ago, or Peter Lambert is going to continue to be the
07:34guy that he's been all year long and be nails and give you a real chance.
07:37Or am I is going to strike, you know, straighten it out and figure it out.
07:40Like I, I just, you mentioned Christian Javier's like his experience, his, his, his experience
07:46in big moments, big games, playoffs experience on the team, on a team, right?
07:50You got to think that that's that in, from a 30,000 foot view, I don't even, I'm not even
07:56drilling down a 30,000 foot view.
07:58If you're the Astros organization, you're thinking if we're going to have a real shot, we're going
08:03to have to lean on Christian Javier's stuff as well as his experience in big moments.
08:08At some point, that's going to be realistic.
08:12And I want to make that clear, starting pitching experience, right?
08:16Most experience, not like Altuve, the old tired team, like starting experience.
08:21I mean, to be honest, even more than Lance.
08:22Lance has been here longer, but Christian has pitched in more big playoff games.
08:26You know, we lost Lance for about four years, so there's that.
