Bears interim coach Thomas Brown discusses the restrictions placed on Caleb Williams with audibles and calling timeouts.
Transcript
00:05Very little.
00:06So most of it is based off of being able to have it built into a particular call
00:11or being able to have an alerted play, like I just talked about before,
00:13would it be a run-to-run, run-to-pass, run-to-play-action-pass,
00:18run-to-keeper, or vice versa?
00:20Obviously, from a third-down standpoint, it's a lot more peer progression,
00:24less of coverage-based reads, not a lot of main versus zone alerts
00:28to kind of be able to alleviate some stress off of him.
00:30So this is stuff that kind of shows up in the game when it comes to possible zero pressure
00:34where he has some flexibility to kind of get in and out of certain plays.
00:37But for the most part, not a whole lot.
00:40Yeah, kind of the response of a couple of previous questions
00:43when it comes to what he has control over, what he doesn't have control over,
00:46when he breaks the huddle, my goal is to be able to try to figure out ways
00:50to take the pressure off of him and make the game simpler for him.
00:53So when it comes to timeouts, I'll control those.
00:56I would say pre-snap mechanics when it comes to understanding potential pressure threats,
01:01but also mastery of what happens post-snap,
01:03obviously having a reaction of how they play it out coverage-wise,
01:06what pressures they bring,
01:07but also understanding where all my quick element throws are
01:09if we have an opportunity for that.
01:11I think at times as well, understanding how to maintain proper pocket integrity,
01:16so being able to hitch in place and not run yourself into a potential sack,
01:20but it's an all-11 problem.
01:25Thank you for having me.
01:26A very good one.
01:26I just want to get back to the hands proven ourselves in a Atlanta area.
01:28Sometimes I see that someone in the world where he can handlelane and it's a small amount.
01:28You
