00:00It's less disappointing than the Warriors offseason if they don't get LeBron.
00:04Yeah, fair.
00:05And I don't know any way around that.
00:07You know, there's a tough conversation around the Warriors right now, I think.
00:12Because there's a bunch of stuff that's equally true.
00:15And I'm going to declare right now as I sit here with you today,
00:19I am not doing any scorched earth until we know exactly what happens.
00:24This is not done yet.
00:26And until it's done, it's not done.
00:28So I'm not going to go freak out on the Warriors when LeBron hasn't even chosen a team yet.
00:34But if he chooses another team, and in this moment that sort of feels likely,
00:40I still think there are some other things about the Warriors that are unfortunately true.
00:45And they're not excuses.
00:46They are just their realities.
00:51They're so limited this offseason into what they even can do.
00:55Plus, while I know there's a very healthy portion of the fan base that is anxious to trade future assets
01:03to help Steph Curry now,
01:06and I can understand that thought process,
01:09I don't think the Warriors are dumb for saying we don't want to do that.
01:14I think that if they get nothing this offseason, what the Warriors are guilty of is not having a solid
01:24enough plan B.
01:25But I'm not necessarily going to get mad at the plan A that they didn't choose,
01:31which is to just hawk more and more and more future assets out into the world
01:38in order to get more injured 30-something-year-old basketball players with big names.
01:44That does not necessarily feel right.
01:47I know they're going to get criticized and accused of being risk-averse and all of this stuff.
01:53But I don't think that that's wrong, that they don't want to do that.
02:00I get that, and the plan B would be, okay, fire a bunch of picks for Anthony Davis,
02:06and I don't think Washington wants to trade him anyway.
02:08Or you can fire some picks and try to bring in Trey Murphy,
02:12and I'm not sure if they want to trade him.
02:13But right now it does feel like you're kind of just waiting for LeBron,
02:18and if LeBron chooses to go somewhere else, take his talents to South Beach, for example,
02:22and you're left looking at the free agency landscape, and there's no one out there,
02:26and, you know, Quentin Post is being offered $10 million a year,
02:29and you have to decide by tomorrow at midnight, and, you know.
02:32No, but honestly.
02:33Tell you what, I got my decision.
02:35I do too.
02:35I'm going to be Judge Wapner.
02:36I need one commercial break, and I'm coming back.
02:39Yeah, I got my decision.
02:41$10 a year for Quentin Post.
02:43Love ya.
02:44See ya.
02:44That's a lot.
02:45I mean, but as far as a plan B, like, if LeBron announces in the next five minutes
02:49that he is going somewhere else, well, you could pivot to Quentin Post for $10 million a year.
02:55I don't think that they will, nor do I think that they should,
02:57but you start to then look at the landscape, and there's really not a lot out there for you.
03:01I mean, if all you need, you've already got Horford and Porzingis.
03:05I know that they need nights off.
03:07If I need somebody young who is going to fill in at the five,
03:11hell, I'd rather just go bring Bassey back.
03:14He looked kind of fun there the last few games.
03:17Yep.
03:18And your stretch five thing, that's going to be Horford and Porzingis on most nights.
03:23And on the Summer League team, they actually have Graham Ike, the big out of Gonzaga.
03:27So, I mean, I'm not saying that he's the answer, but he might be a guy that you wind up
03:32keeping
03:33and, you know, playing at the five-some instead of Quentin Post at $10 million.
03:36I don't want to sound mean.
03:39$10 million a year for Quentin Post is malpractice.
03:43Well, I mean.
03:45Malpractice.
03:45For this team, if you are.
03:47For any team, with the way contracts are being handed out right now, you're telling me that,
03:54I mean, this guy's making all those guys, Colin Sexton, Anthony Simons, these aren't perfect players.
04:00None of them got 10.
04:02Quentin Post?
04:04Quentin Post.
04:05Hi, this is Quentin Post.
04:06Nice guy.
04:08Right.
04:08You can back up Zach Eadie in Memphis.
04:10Below average defensively.
04:12Better though, getting better.
04:13Getting better, but still below average.
04:15He went from terrible to passable.
04:20And is it me or is his three-point shot actually kind of overstated?
04:24It's overstated.
04:25It's not that good.
04:26I think last year he shot 34% eventually.
04:30That's not great.
04:30Right.
04:31He was hot early and then it definitely came back to earth.
04:34So, I'm with you.
04:36Three and 30, it's not the answer.
04:37But when you start to look at what the Warriors have done and it's more Melton and Horford
04:43opts in and you got Chris Stapps for a couple years, is this really what we're going to wind
04:47up doing if LeBron doesn't come?
04:5033.6 is what it ended up at last year.
04:54Not great.
04:55I ain't paying $10 million a year for that.
04:57I don't care what anybody else is doing.
04:59Yeah, agreed.
05:00Agreed.
05:00And it's just, as you look at it, you're starting to think about LJ Cryer and you mentioned
05:05Bassey and Leons and all these other like summer league bodies.
05:10We're going to wind up stacking the back of the roster with these guys again.
05:12We'll see.
05:13Okay.
05:13And so, that's where I understand.
05:17Like, I get if the Warriors do not want to push a bunch of first-round capital into the
05:24middle of the table right now, I get that.
05:26But there is no escaping, whether anyone's at fault here or not, there is no escaping
05:32that if you come out and bring Steve Kerr back and have press conferences about how you
05:38want to do it different and need to have more players who can play back-to-backs and you say
05:43all of these things publicly and then you literally don't add anyone new to the team at all other
05:50than your draft pick.
05:52That's just not going to go over well.
05:54Right.
05:54There's nothing anybody can do about that.
05:57That's not going to land well with this fan base.
05:59I mean, you could go out there and still add in free agency, but none of it's going to
06:03have the real wow factor of LeBron James and like LeBron or not, think they should do it
06:08or think they shouldn't do it.
06:10He at least provides some sizzle and some excitement.
06:13Whether or not it works out and leads you into the playoffs or not, that's yet to be determined.
06:18But that would be at least something, that would be a thing that you can get excited about.
06:23Can you get excited about Yaxel?
06:25Absolutely.
06:26I mean, this is, I appreciate this text from 707 because I'm one of the people who's had
06:31to put up Dukes about Mike Dunleavy.
06:34Every time, you know, oh, they called on Kawhi and the Clippers said no.
06:39It's like, oh, Dunleavy's a fool.
06:40It's like, what are you talking about?
06:44Like there's, there always has to be two to tango, whether it's a trade, a free agency
06:49situation, whatever it is.
06:51The only place where there does not have to be two to tango is the draft.
06:55And Mike Dunleavy just had his first lottery pick.
06:58So that's kind of the first one that I think you can really say, hey, you better hit on
07:03this.
07:03And we don't know anything yet, but the only returns we've gotten so far are pretty encouraging,
07:09I would say, and then go back to his other draft picks.
07:13I mean, even though I hate the number, if you, he's plucking NBA players out of the second
07:18round, Quentin Post, okay.
07:2010 million a year.
07:21Will Richard, you're on the team pods.
07:25You'd go higher if this, there was a redraft.
07:28So if you hate Mike Dunleavy, I know a lot of you do.
07:33You're, you're putting a big blind spot over what I think is actually the lifeblood
07:38of a GM.
07:40He does not have the power to just unilaterally get Kawhi or Giannis or LeBron.
07:47Just because you want that to happen.
07:49Just because he wants it to happen.
07:50But what he has his hands on outside of the, his pants were around his ankles, Chris Paul
07:58trade two weeks after he got the gig outside of that.
08:03I don't really have a huge problem with any move that he's made.
08:07I don't.
08:08Jimmy Butler tours ACL.
08:09That sucks.
08:10Unfortunate.
08:12And what else are you mad at?
08:14I mean, you're probably not mad at too much.
08:16The Chris Paul thing was a debacle and you know, you wound up throwing in Patrick Baldwin
08:20as well, or Ryan Rollins.
08:22I'm sorry.
08:23In that trade, which was in Baldwin.
08:25Unfortunate that that was the reality, but yeah, he was new and you didn't have a lot
08:29of optionality in that situation.
08:31And now here you go.
08:32You get a draft pick and hopefully they hit on it really early to tell with, you know,
08:36a couple of summer games.
08:38You can't tell a thing yet.
08:39It's his first real crack at it.
08:40So I'm willing to give him some time to work his way through it.
08:43But one thing I don't want to see is them fire off a bunch of picks in the future for
08:48one last Hail Mary swing at it.
08:50Yeah.
08:50Jamie Watson in just a sec.
08:51So real quick, Austin and Oakland.
08:53We don't have a whole lot of time, but what'd you want to say about LeBron?
08:56Yeah.
08:57None, uh, none too particular guys.
08:59Y'all hit everything on the head.
09:00I just want us to not focus solely on LeBron.
09:03We had a lot of opportunities to get other, uh, players that were looking into us, whether
09:07it's Rui Hachimura.
09:09And if you want someone to play back to back, I don't know who's better than Russell Westbrook.
09:13Um, so we got a lot of opportunities for other players, even aging players, but yeah, take
09:18care of God.
09:19Austin.
09:19Thanks, Austin.
09:20Um, I can't argue with the thought process on Russell Westbrook.
09:24All I can tell you is that it makes my stomach flip upside down and yaks all over the floor.
09:30Yeah.
09:31He plays.
09:32I mean, like I, I, I just, yeah, this is going to sound weird, but I don't want the Warriors
09:39to win that badly.
09:41Yeah.
09:42Like, holy hell.
09:43No.
09:43Even when Chris Paul came, you were, you know, in that moment, you were like, I can't even,
09:48you know, and yet he was a warrior for however long he was and, you know, you dealt with
09:53it.
09:53You didn't love it.
09:53I held my nose.
09:54Yep.
09:54You did.
